SONY DSCPetitQ has become a brand I have associated with the idea of being a purely sexy brand that knows how to show off a man’s body. I had admired their sexy, skimpy underwear and was excited at the opportunity to review my first pair. I got the PQ40 bikini in the mail and was excited at slipping it on and experiencing the hype I had made in my head all this time. At first glance, the bikini seemed like a basic white brief. I noticed a soft comfortable feel to the pair in my hands, made from a nylon and poly blend. As I slipped it on, I was surprised and excited to notice that half of the front of the bikini was a sheer material! I thought to myself “this is the PetitQ I know!” Not only did they feel great and soft but they looked very sexy too. The hidden fabric meets the sheer fabric right down the center of your package, exposing half to whoever you want while keeping half under wraps. I thought to myself “if I push my package a little to the right I can be modest, but if I push it to the left, I can be naughty.” It’s a great pair for a guy to be a little sexy and a little conservative in.

I wore them through a very busy day at work which consisted of all of the normal movements with sitting, standing, walking, and driving which is the perfect combination to test drive any new pair of underwear. This pair passed all of the tests with flying colors! It was comfortable all day long and I had no problems with adjusting my package, riding up, or uncomfortable wear. This had been a first for me in a very long time. Any guy that goes through a lot of movement in a day, whether it be in a professional manner, athletic manner, or other, wants a pair of underwear he can rely on to be comfortable and not interrupt his plan. This pair did that. Many people would probably think that a pair of underwear that was novelty in fashion would not hold up against the normal movement of day to day way of life. PetitQ has managed to combine sexy and comfort in this bikini and I applaud them for that.

I wear a medium, size 32″ waist, and this pair held up to the size of my waist perfectly. It fit great around the waist, covered my package and butt comfortably, and allowed enough room for nothing to be smashed at all.

An important fact to learn about this pair of bikinis is that a novelty, sexy brand such as PetitQ does not have to be worn for a short period of time, such as a sexual fantasy. Sexy pairs of underwear can be practical, suggesting that after wearing them for a long day of work can still surprise your loved one when you get home from work and drop the pants! Anyone looking for a great pair of underwear to wear for the day that translates into a fun night in the bedroom should check out PetitQ.

Pros:

  • Comfortable
  • Sexy
  • See thru

Cons:

  • Slimmer sides
  • More options in style and color

CS002_redThe pair I am reviewing is the Cocksox CSX65 Boxer Brief. This pair was really attractive when I pulled them from the package. The color is a bright vibrant red. The feel of the fabric was super soft. I couldn’t wait to try them on. I had never bought Cocksox before and really like the idea of the CSX so it doesn’t say Cock on my waistband.

I have worn this pair twice already. Once when I worked both of my jobs so it meant moving around a lot and wearing them for a long amount of time. The underwear stayed in place the whole time. They felt comfortable and were easy to move in. At times I forgot I had them on since they were so comfortable. The next time I wore them it was for both jobs but it was also a 99 degree day out. So I got extremely sweaty. These are designed to wick the moisture away from the body and I got to say it really worked. As someone with a bubble butt when underwear gets sweaty it normally starts to ride into my ass. These stayed in place and remained comfortable. I would recommend these for working out and sweaty situations

The pair is a size small which covers 28 to 30 inch waists. The pair fit me perfectly. The pair looked awesome on my ass and the pouch fit me perfectly. The pair is made of 92% Supplex® 8% Lycra®. According to their website Supplex is the feel of cotton with more technology.

I really loved this pair of underwear. The y-front on the front and the bold bright color is fun. The pair is so comfortable that I will be wearing them often. These have jumped up my list of favorite underwear for sure. I will be purchasing more of these for sure!

Pros:

  • Held up throughout the movements of my day
  • Fun color
  • The fabric is super soft and comfortable

Cons:

  • There were no cons with this pair. I loved them and will wear the pair lots.

I am not the best person on Twitter. I have a few accounts I have to keep up with so I”m not always on, I’m trying to be better for UNB! I ran across Helux Gear on Twitter. I looked at their site and they are doing something new in the world of mens underwear. They have a pouch that is made like a double helix. Yup the pouch sort of wraps around to form a fly in the pouch

When I first saw this on their site it looked like it could be really cool or come off bad. So when they offered to send me some I jumped at the chance. I got to give these a test run and was super excited. The package came and it has three pairs in it! The first pair I will review is Brief.

I will say I loved the light blue color. It’s almost a sky blue in color. The pair put me in a really good mood! I slid it on and at first I was like. HUH? Its not a pouch I was accustomed too. It seemed to be a little lower. But with that said, when i talked to them they said the first batch didn’t have the exact pouch they wanted. So I kept that in mind when I put them on.

After a second I figured out to adjust myself in them and they fit pretty well. Granted I still felt a bit wonky in them, but I made me wonder if the day went on would it hold up.

The pouch, as many of you know is the most important factor for me. It can make a or break a far for me. So when you create a new pouch I am instantly interested and hope it lives up. After I got positioned in them and noticed it was a bit lower than i normally like. It didn’t constrict or bind me like I thought it may but felt like a normal pouch. As the day went on, I didn’t notice it was any different.

The pouch also is very functional. I know we have many readers who hate a fly in underwear. So when I got home I had to see how it worked. The fly is held in place by elastic. It’s not binding or cut off any circulation. I pulled the elastic on the pouch to the side and it was easier than most fly to use. I put it back in place and hoped it would go back in place. A little adjustment  was needed but it held everything in place. I really like the new innovative design.

The sizing was pretty good. I wear a size 38 was it right now and the large in the brand run 36-38. It’s pretty standard sizing as you would expect. The fit was pretty good to me so I doubt you will have issues with sizing if you get a pair. The waistband fit great and other than the pouch feeling wonky to begin with, it was a great pair that held up pretty well throughout the day.

Pros:

  • Innovative new design
  • Great color – Blue
  • Good sizing options

Cons:

  • Some guys may not like the pouch, it’s different
  • Only available in a two colors.

I know many of you out there either don’t feel comfy or don’t have a beach/pool where you can wear a swim brief this summer. So you won’t be participating in our Swim Brief challenge. That doesn’t mean you can’t get some really fun swimwear for this summer.

The pair I got to review is the the Teamm8 Surf Swim Short. I really love the fun pattern of this pair. So when I got to pick a few pairs of swim, this was top of my list. The print really caught my eye and I had to have it! As you can see the Surf Swim Short is a traditional swim trunk. Well, it is for us in the US. These are the kinds of suits I grew up on wearing. So they give me a retro feel.

It has a retro look but made with new fabrics and design. The old shorts I wore never had pockets. So this is a new addition to the style. I personally like a swim suit with pockets. It’s not that i want to load my pockets down in the water or hanging out. But, inevitably you will need to go somewhere and its great to have a place to put your ID and money when you go, instead of holding it in your hand.

Next is the print. I said above that I love it. The reasons I love the print is because it’s very beachy, colorful and not over the top. First, the print reminds me of the beach because of the palm leaves and floral print is what you should wear at the beach. Next are the colors, its very Miami South Beach to me with the more muted/pastel colors. They work well together. Lastly is its not over the top. How many times have you seen prints and went, who’s curtains did they use? Well this one is fun and you’ll get noticed for the right reasons.

I wore these to a pool where it’s encouraged to wear swim briefs. Note that I did bring a swim brief as well but kept them in my bag. I wanted to see how well these did by themselves. Often I wear a swim brief under other swimwear because I like the extra support under other lined suits. The one smart thing Teamm8 did was have the lining and fly meet up. Meaning when you udo the fly you don’t have to worry about the lining. it’s sewn into the sides of the fly rather. I thought this was super smart.

I will say for trunks these were pretty good trunks. I prefer a more square cut or swim brief as my main pair. I will definitely wear these again. They felt great just relaxing by the pool and in the water. Reviews for swim are always hard for me because I never put swimwear through it’s paces. I”m more of a relax and hang out rather than play volleyball or be active. So for me these did the trick and I got a few compliments and informed a few guys about Teamm8!

Pros:

  • Loved the print
  • The lining doesn’t get in the way
  • Was very comfy

Cons

  • Some guys may not like the lining
  • Pockets, again some may not like pockets in swim

mbs04-turq_1Today’s review is the Male Basics Sport Boxer. As always when I received them I couldn’t wait the open them and see them. The first thing I noticed was the great design of the sports brief. I have never had mesh type underwear and was excited to try them.

As always I wore them on a busy work day. I prefer to try them on busy days when I know I will be moving a lot so I can get the best results for my review. I am a true size medium, but I found these to run a little small. They were snug in the waist and tight around the leg holes. I do have somewhat muscular legs and even taking that into consideration they tended to bind and pinch my legs throughout the day. I tried to gently stretch them but with not much luck.

I was hoping the mesh type material would be cool and airy, but I found them to be a bit on the hot side. Like I said I’ve never tried mesh type underwear and maybe this is the norm. The material is very sturdy and of good quality. I always go for high quality underwear and Male Basics defiantly makes high quality

The design and construction were superb, and they look very sexy, both on an off. I was impressed with how well they were made. Much better than I thought they would be. I thought with the mesh type fabric the construction wouldn’t be very good but I could tell these are made to last.

I tried them two more times but not at work One time was dinner with friends and one day was out running errands, and as fun and sexy as they are they just didn’t fit the way I was hoping. I am thinking of getting a pair in large and see how they do.

If you like sport boxers, mesh type underwear or something fun, sexy and different these are a must have for your collection.

Pros:

  • Great material
  • Fun design
  • Stands up after washing and wearing several times
  • Great construction/ quality underwear

Cons:

  • A little on the snug side
  • During strenuous activity it got warm down there.

lanai-red-0It is now swim season and it’s time to spend as much time by the beach/pool as possible. I would totally agree with this but here in the ATL it’s been rainy and cloudy every time you turn around. So you can wear swimwear but it hasn’t been ideal conditions. So I used the Teamm8 Lanai swim shorts to hang out in one day by the pool. This was the first time I ever wore Teamm8. So I was excited to give them a try.

I will say it’s not normally the style I would wear. This pair has a very retro look, it reminds me of something from the 70’s/80’s, and yes I was old enough to remember them! So I was a little apprehensive about them. Back in the day I hated these types of swimwear and hoped that I wouldn’t have a bad flash back! But, this is Teamm8 and they make out of modern materials/fabrics, so I should have known this wasn’t going to happen.

I wore these to a pool that really isn’t swim brief friendly. It was a friends neighborhood pool, but I did keep my swim briefs under them, I like the extra support. As I relaxed in the pool and hung out this did fit great. The color got a little big of attention because it’s not the usual navy, white or red most swim trunks are. A few people complimented me on them and asked who they were. I forget you talk to people outside of the underwear/swimwear world, most of the population hasn’t heard of Teamm8. Well I am changing it for them an other brands.

Back to my day. These dried pretty fast and didn’t bunch or bind when going form pool to laying out and such. One of my biggest gripes in swimwear are those that don’t dry fast. I hate sitting in wet clothes for over an hour! The 100% nylon dried pretty fast so I was super happy.

The color I received was Watermelon. You are going to make a statement in this pair. It has a small palm tree print that alternates black and white tree. The pair has white piping around the lets and seams. It also includes a drawstring waist. Which is pretty standard for swimwear. If the Watermelon is not your style check out the mint (green) pair.

As for sizing, definitely pay attention to sizing charts. It was a little tight on me, just because I have gained a few pounds. Which I’m not happy about but I plan on going back down. However, that said you can get the right size if you check out the sizing guide. Their chart is easy to find, a button next to the size selection brings it up!

Pros:

  • Great construction
  • Attention getting color
  • dries fast

Cons;

  • retro design some guys may not like
  • Colors maybe too bold for some guys

141772I guess I had better preface this review by saying it’s been a while since I’ve been able to write about mens underwear for UNB. It’s been even longer since I have had any new underwear to review, and in many ways I am starting fresh. There has been a lot going on in my life that has kept me away from the underwear industry and worse, writing about underwear. But after a long time on the sidelines and a bit more stability in my life, I am finally ready to get back into the swing of things here on UNB.

I figured the easiest way to blog about underwear is to actually give myself a specific pair to write about, so I hit up the Memorial Day Sale that just wrapped up at Freshpair.com and came away with a pair of underwear I’ve had my eye on for months. I am talking about the Doreanse “Warrior Thong,” which is still available at Freshpair.com and a few other online retailers. A few things attracted me to this thong from the get-go. First, I had heard good things about the brand, specifically that their thongs are worth a try, but secondly and far more prominently I was really drawn in by the look. The cut was masculine without looking too much like some thongs that can be easily mistaken for a jockstrap.

While I wouldn’t call myself thong-obsessed (I prefer briefs 8 times out of 10 for daily wear), I do like the support thongs offer (when they fit right) and if I can find those thongs and g-strings that add just the right amount of flair without being too flashy I will usually pull the credit card out for them. I work a desk job that happens to require me to move around quite a bit, so this thong got a very full day’s worth of work in. I probably got up from my desk 15-20 times today, including a trip to the car wash and Chipotle (yum) for lunch, the only thing I did not do today was work out as I am getting over a brief cold. Needless to say, this thong went through a tough day’s worth of activity and performed flawlessly. I never once had to go to the bathroom to “re-adjust” or never once felt any discomfort with this thong. Most thong-guys would tell you that the best thongs are the ones you can wear all day and forget that you’re wearing underwear at all, and the Warrior Thong fits firmly in that category.

Once you pull this thong on, the first thing you’ll notice is the quality, but that wasn’t the case when I was pulling it out of the packaging. Attached to the pouch and the back “string/thong” material is about an inch worth of ribbed cotton (think “wife beater” tank top) which aside from the stitching that holds it to the waistband has little structure. I was worried that this would roll up and get uncomfortable, but if you get the right size, and get this thong on the correct way, it won’t move. Somewhat ironically, I figured out that these strips of ribbed cotton I was worried about may actually be what may have kept me from passing on this thong altogether. Why? Well if you were to take it away, you would be left with just another run-of-the-mill thong that looks like a jock (think CK Body Thong), which is a style I tend to stay away from.

Aside from the masculine, “Warrior” look this thong gives its wearer, there cannot be enough said about the thong’s most redeeming quality. Its comfort. Holy smokes this thing is comfortable! I attribute the comfort to two things: 1.) The bulk of the thong is made of a 45/45 modal/cotton blend, which for my 200-some pair collection is the most comfortable fabric blend out there. 2.) Getting the right size, which is crucial to every thong’s success on a guy. I am in the process of losing weight, but even when I am at my best, attainable weight I am still in a size 36 pant (I’m currently 6’4″ 240 with an athletic build). I bought this thong in XL which fits a 37-38″ waist, according to the Doreanse size chart. Some of the online reviews on Freshpair.com said this runs small, which is why I decided to go to the size bigger than my pant size. I was initially nervous that it would be too big, because athletically cut thongs tend to run big, but the XL fits wonderfully on me and since I am somewhat well endowed, even if the L fit my waist, the pouch would be too cramped. So when you go get this thong, make sure you order one size up from your pant size and you’ll still get the support you require.

I say  when because there is no reason for you not to buy this thong. I am so confident that you will love this thong that I would say that it’s the perfect thong for the guy who’s been kicking around the idea of buying his first one. Or, if you’re more of an Aficianado of the style like me, you can’t go wrong with this pair and the diversity the Warrior Thong’s style will bring your thong collection. I say when because even when it isn’t on sale it’s only $15 at Freshpair.com and right now it is on sale for $11.25!!! though, it is backordered. All that means is that you’ll have to wait an extra week or two to get it delivered, and that this review is spot-on!

Like the underwear industry and UNB, I could not stay away from this thong – and boy am I glad I finally got it and I am even more happy that I could share this review of it as my first post back here at UNB.

Pros:

  • Out-of-this-world comfort, coming from the modal/cotton blend
  • Masculine, but fashion conscious look
  • You could wear this thong 24/7

Cons:

  • Only 3 color combinations available, just two on freshpair.com
  • That I can’t say enough good things about this thong…

Picture from Freshpair.com

mypakage-weekendThe pair I am reviewing is a pair of black MyPakage Weekend Boxer Brief. I had never heard of this brand so I was really curious. On the front of the package it mentions keyhole comfort technology, which looked really interesting from description and the picture. When I pulled them from the packaging they were so soft. I don’t remember the last pair of underwear I got that was this soft.

I wore this pair twice. The first day I wore them when I went to work. I was curious how the “keyhole comfort technology” would feel. It is some elastic that your bits fit inside. I must say I wasn’t that impressed since I didn’t do these justice in the pouch region. This pair is very soft to wear, but I noticed I was having to pull my pants up constantly because they were sliding on the underwear. I wore them to work and the constant readjusting was troublesome. They were comfortable but not the best for work.

The second day I wore them on the weekend when I was just going to be lounging. They were extremely comfortable and seemed to perform better when I wasn’t as active. Though once again I wasn’t filling the pouch area and so the keyhole comfort technology didn’t do much for me.

This pair is a size small that covers a 28 to 30 inch waist. I am a 28 to 29 inch waist and have a bubble butt so normally have no issue. The waist of the pair fit me perfectly, it stayed in place and looked good. The rest of the boxer brief seemed loose on me, even on the butt. Normally my butt stretches all pairs but this pair had some extra room on the butt. These felt more boxer like to me than boxer brief. This pair is made of 95% modal and 5% spandex which makes them so soft. I love how that material felt against my skin.

Pros:

  • Super comfortable material
  • Waistband stayed in place

Cons:

  • Pouch was too roomy for me
  • Fit more like boxers
  • Caused my pants to slide down some

sly-torn-denimMy first review for UNB is a pair of Sly Collective Torn Denim boxer briefs. When I received them in the mail I was excited. When I took them out of the package I was beyond excited. The print is awesome. They really look like a pair of work jeans. You know the pair: your favorite jeans that are worn and torn and perfectly broke in, rips and all.

The material is a cotton/ elastane blend. The waist band is snug but not too binding. The logo is flashy and fun too. Before I tried them on the first time I laundered them. I washed them in cold and dried them on the cool setting. The color and shape didn’t change.

I wore them to work to give them a real test. I do a lot of walking and climbing of stairs. These boxer briefs didn’t ride up or pinch in the crotch. I often find that the legs of boxer briefs ride up as the day goes on but the Sly boxer briefs didn’t move. I also do a lot of lifting and bending at work and they never were uncomfortable. During the day I kept thinking of the awesomely fun underwear I had under my actual favorite comfy jeans. They are fun and sexy at the same time.

One fun little feature of these underwear is a small pocket on the right leg. It’s the ideal size for a pocket watch, or, a condom perhaps. The little pocket was just one more great feature on what has quickly become one of my favorite pair of underwear.

I have worn them three times since I received them in the mail. I have laundered them four times and the print didn’t fade at all and they have kept their shape. I have found in the past that printed underwear doesn’t always last but these are holding up great.

The underwear is a size medium and the size is accurate. They cover a size 32 to 34 inch waist. I have somewhat athletic thighs and the leg openings were not so tight that they cut into my legs.

Pros:

  • Great material
  • Amazing print
  • Comfortable, from the beginning of the day to the end of the day
  • Great fit for your butt and crotch
  • Stands up after washing and wearing several times
  • Pocket watch/condom pocket

Cons:

  • I only have one pair so far.
  • But really, I cannot think of a con with this underwear

I recommend you guys give the Sly Torn Denim Boxer Brief a try. If you are not a boxer briefs kind of guy these will change your mind and make a believer out of you. This pair was furnished for review by Sly Collective.

SLY_2011_WORK_AZURA1_1I was recently was given the opportunity to test wear a pair of trunks from the Sly Collective. Sly Collective is a new brand in my collection. I had never heard of them prior to them showing up in my mailbox. I was very pleased with my first time wearing them. The fit and wear was very comfortable. I was told that these wear trunks, but I would say that better fit the description and cut of boxer briefs. While I do not know the exact measurement specifications for trunks versus boxer briefs. I feel this pair better fits in the boxer brief category. There is a very distinct difference between Sly’s trunks and boxer briefs, so making the right choice is easy. Browsing the website of Sly reveals that they have a wide variety of colors and patterns. They also offer a small selection of briefs if that is your preferred cut of underwear. I would encourage you to browse the website of Sly Collective and see for yourself.

I took Sly Collective on a test wear during a normal day in my life. There was nothing uncomfortable about them from the moment I first donned them until I removed them at the end of the day. The sign of a good fitting pair is the not knowing you have them on and Sly did that for me. Often times you have to readjust the leg placement or fix a wedgie. Sly required no adjustment at all. I wore them while doing extensive walking and also during some seated time in a vehicle. Getting out of a car will usually mean having to pull the legs down on a pair of trunks or boxer briefs. Again, not with Sly as they stayed right where they were supposed to. I call into question the longevity of the legs and their ability to keep the underwear where they belong after normal wear and tear.

Since I was given a pair of trunks to review the size I wore was small. I follow a general rule of thumb that when I wear trunks or boxer briefs I go with smalls. This rule has suited me well and in the case of Sly Collective also holds true. The measurements for the small size is 30 to 32 inches. I would say that this sizing is very true to reality. If you consider yourself to be a small then ordering a small in Sly would not disappoint. I would definitely consider myself a small in Sly Collective trunks and boxer briefs.

Considering that the Sly Collective trunks I reviewed were more along the lines of boxer briefs than trunks. I still rather liked them. As I mentioned before I wore them during a normal day and did not know I had them on. They required no adjustment throughout the day and stayed in place from beginning to end. The material was soft and waistband was the perfect size. The bands on the bottom of the legs were tight enough to hold the legs in place not so tight they made the underwear uncomfortable. They even included a cute little pocket on the leg in which to hide a small item. This a catchy feature that makes them unique and fun. I have no real complaints of Sly Collective. I still stand by my original belief though that they would better fall into the category of boxer briefs. That is a small issue in the grand scheme of things. All in all a great pair of underwear that I strongly recommend checking out. I know I’ll be shopping for another pair, briefs this time.

Pros:

  • Soft comfortable fabric
  • Strong leg bands to hold in place
  • Unique pocket feature to set them apart

Cons:

  • Better suited to the boxer brief category

Sly Collective furnished this pair of underwear for review. They retail for $20 at the Sly Collective site.

UNB SkateboarderI’m kind of sad this is my last review of Blue Collar Underwear. I have really enjoyed wearing them. They are a really great underwear company you guys should check out. I saved the Skateboarder Trunk as the last pair. As you know I’m not a big fan of trunks/boxer briefs and this one didn’t have the really great pouch. So I figured why not (and I temporarily misplaced it is the real reason). What? Yes I do misplace things.

The first thing I LOVED was the waistband. Green is my favorite color in everything and in underwear it really draws me to a pair. So the waistband and green stitching I loved. Although the lack of pouch really had me worried. I never do well with pairs that are flat in front. It doesn’t hold things in place and after a while it drives me crazy. I mean so crazy the pairs have to go and I usually bring an extra pair of underwear to change into.

I hesitantly slid on the pair and hoped for the best. The first thing I noticed, unlike many other pairs, it did fit me pretty well. There wasn’t any worry of things moving where they shouldn’t. Granted I didn’t know if this would hold up but was hoping for the best. These are made to be an “athlete’s dream trunk” as they say on the Blue Collar site. I would agree with this statement. They would be great for working out or being active.

I really was surprised how well these held up for the day. I don’t know how it created a pouch. There is no defined pouch like previous pairs and it looks just like a regular pair of trunks that I am not a fan of wearing. As I have said before that Blue Collar is making underwear for real guys. They are one brand you are going to have to look out for in the year to come.

Sizing on these were perfect. Unlike the Snake Charmer, these fit great. As I have said I’m 6’4’/245 and 38 waist. These fit 36-39 and really were super comfy. They didn’t ride up or bind at any time. The one thing I hate about trunks is they ride up in the legs. I don’t know how they made these but it’s a win-win in every area.

Pros:

  • Green Waistband – love green
  • Created a pouch – when I didn’t think it would
  • Breathable material

Cons:

  • This pair I can’t think of any other than it may make me rethink my dislike for boxer briefs

DSC_0163__78826.1399443510.1280.1280This is my fourth pair of Blue Collar Underwear. I will say I’m impressed with them so far. The pair I’m reviewing on this review is the Snake Charmer Trunk. This pair I was super excited to get. The material felt amazing when I took it out of the bag. Super soft and felt almost rubber like. The second thing I noticed was there was a print on the pair. It was printed in black on black fabric so you really had to look to see it. It was super cool! This one was so much fun.

I slid them on and well…it didn’t fit. It was a bit too small. I was super bummed. I didn’t want to get a pair to review that I can’t fit in. Granted I don’t have a large backside, but it didn’t cover me completely at the top. I was really upset I love this pair. I decided to give them a try anyway. I figured they are on, the worst that would happen would be I would have to take them off during the day at some point. This wouldn’t be an issue because I had tons of errands to run and would be running in and out all day.

As the day went on I totally forgot that the pair didn’t fit me. Which too many I know is hard to believe but I did. I ran around and the pair didn’t slide down. I still find it hard to believe that it didn’t. I bought a pair once, I won’t name the name, but it didn’t fit and as the day went on it totally slid down. So I give them props for this and the awesome material.

The material is 95% Viscoseand and 5% Spandex. I don’t believe I have ever had a pair made out of Viscoseand before. I loved the feel. Much like the other pairs I have reviewed they had a defined pouch. They have really mastered the great fitting pouch. When you look at all their pairs each style has a great pouch. Lastly is the print, I love how subtle it is and how it adds to the pair with out making it appear over the top.

I wore these on errands like I said. So it was a some what busy day. The smaller size really didn’t detract from the pair. After I put on my jeans I never felt them being small again. I know it seems crazy but it didn’t bother me the rest of the day. I forgot midway through the day and wasn’t till that night that I remembered.

Sizing, well this one really didn’t fit me that well. I am 6’4”/245 and 38 waist. This said it fits 36-39 but I have a feeling it’s more 36. I don’t know if it was mislabeled or just a miss size. The other pairs I have reviewed never had an issue. We all can buy a one off that doesn’t fit 100% perfect. Every brand has them and I would say exchange it for a new one if you do.

Pros:

  • Love the materials the Viscoseand felt great
  • Again can’t talk about the pouch enough
  • The design printed was super fun

Cons

  • Sizing – it didn’t fit me
  • Some guys may not like the smaller trunk design

UNB Fireman BriefI hope you have enjoyed the last two reviews I did. The City Brief by far has been my favorite. But now I’m on to the Fireman brief! I’m super excited to try a brief. Granted the other pairs were called briefs but they were more of a trunk. I admit I’m a big brief fan. It’s the style I wear most!

The Fireman brief is a nice brief cut. The first thing you notice is the pouch. It’s a very great designed pouch to give you plenty of room and support upfront. The pouch as contrasting piping in black, that off sets and accents your pouch! I found the pouch to be very supportive and plenty of room. It felt great during the day. Lastly, is the fabric it’s made out of a 95% cotton and 5% spandex. I would have loved a higher blend of spandex but it still felt great!

I wore these on a lazy day. Unlike the last pair that I put through it’s paces, this one was for a relaxing Sunday. I will admit it as super lazy and a much needed rest. When I lounge around I want a pair that is super supportive and holds everything in place. This pair did just that. I was able to just hang out in my undies and relax. We all have those days where it’s an undies only day to watch movies and relax.

The one consistent thing in Blue Collar undies has been the pouch. I love how they have paid attention to that. I definitely have a need for a pouch that has room and support. Sometimes it can be hard to find undies that fit properly. So for that my hat is off!

Sizing was very good on this pair. Like I have said I’m 6’4”/245ish on a good day. The sizing for this pair listed as 36-39. My 38 waist really felt good in these. They didn’t bind or constrict me through out the day. I can say with confidence if you pick the right size you won’t be disappointed.

Pros:

  • Traditional Brief Cut – which I love
  • Good supportive Pouch
  • Sizing was spot on

Cons:

  • Wish they had more colors – just black and white
  • Materials were great just like more stretch/spandex blend

sly-zebra-briefsToday I had the chance to review a new brand that I had never seen before which was very exciting to me.  I was also excited about the chance to introduce my thoughts on this pair with all of the UNB fans.  The brand is Sly and I had the pleasure of reviewing the Zebra brief.  When I first opened the package I was excited to see the familiar black and white pattern thinking to myself “well, I don’t have anything animal print’ and excited to slip them on.  It reminded me of when you used to hear comments about being naughty for being red underwear, now it’s my wild zebra print!

Upon first feel, the cotton material was very soft to the touch which made me excited because I knew comfort was a clear goal for this company.  They are bigger than most of the briefs I wear but should be perfect for the man that is looking for something shorter than a trunk but covers more than a small bikini.  I wear a medium and they stayed true to size for me.  They seemed to fit just right, not feeling constricted or loose.  I also noticed a small black pocket on the side of the pouch about the size of a little square.  Let’s be honest.  If you want to wear these in hopes of taking them off at the end of your date, you don’t have to keep your condom in your wallet.

I decided to give these pair a run over the weekend as they seemed very comfortable looking for a day of relaxation and me time.  I slipped them on after my morning shower and prepared for a day of house work, errands, and spending time with friends.  They felt great when I put them on.  The material was very comfortable.  After a few hours of wearing the underwear, I did begin to feel partially constricted in the front.  The pouch did not give me as much support as I need and I found myself adjusting myself quite often.  This could also be because I am used to smaller briefs.  I would have liked to see a little more room in the pouch for additional support to keep everything comfortable throughout the day.  Everywhere else the pair fit me great.  I never had any problems in the back which is a relief when it comes to constant movement of sitting down, walking, and moving around.  This is a huge benefit for anyone who knows how it feels to constantly feel like your underwear is riding up!

I normally wear a 32 inch waist pair of pants and medium and most of my underwear. I reviewed the sly brief and a medium and I can honestly say it was true to its sizing and my 32 inch waist. I did not feel that the underwear was too tight or too loose so there was no need for me to even think of trying on a small or large because the medium fit perfectly. Many underwear brands can sometimes be misleading because they’re sizing does not match up to what we are accustomed to however sly did not do this to their customers. They managed to pull off the correct size and the correct scale for comfort.

Overall, this underwear held up good for my day.  Unfortunately, at the end of my day, I slid them off, condom still in its pocket.  Maybe next time 😉

Pros:

  • Fun print
  • Creative compartment with pocket for money, condom, key, etc.
  • Soft, comfortable material

Cons:

  • Not enough support in the pouch
  • Style – hope there is a smaller style (bikini like)

UNB....Navy Blue Camo

After my last review from Blue Collar Underwear I was super excited to try some more. For the record they sent me 5 pairs to review. So you will read a lot more about the brand in the next week or so. The City Briefs just had me loving the brand. Would this love continue to the Miltary Camo Briefs?

The briefs are more of a trunk to me. Unlike the City Briefs these were more of a cotton fabric rather than nylon. This made me wonder if they would hold up through out the day as well as my previous pair. Without hesitation I put them on and set out on my day. I wore these to a really long and active day. I helped a friend out and worked an event for 13 hours. This was no ordinary day. Getting the day started at 5 am and non stop till 7 PM.

The first thing I noticed on the pair was the camo color. I liked the use of blue rather than the traditional green. It is a lot of fun. The next thing is the material. It really breathed well through the day. However, it didn’t conform to me as the City Brief did and at times it rode up a bit. Not a great deal but it was noticeable. This could have been due to everything I had to do during the day. I think if it had been a regular day I wouldn’t have had any issues. Third is the pouch, which was great. Blue Collar seems to have a great pouch in every pair they make. It gave me ample support during the day. There is nothing I hate more than a pair that looses support in the pouch. Why bother having undies if it doesn’t hold up and these did all through the day.

Sizing in these were very good. As I have said I’m 6’4” and 245ish with a 38 waist right now. These fit waist sizes 36-39 waist. Granted I’m on the upper end but it still fit pretty well. You should be able to find the right pair with their size chart. Like with all size charts if you’re on the boarder of a size you may want to go for the larger size.

I will say I am becoming a fan of Blue Collar Underwear. I have three more pairs to get through. One I temporarily misplaced, but I did find! They will be out next week or so.

Pros:

  • Great Camo Print
  • Supportive Pouch
  • Breathable Material

Cons

  • Rode up during the day
  • More of a trunk than a brief

  • Daily Fit – 8.5
  • Sizing – 9

UNB BlueSkiesfrontHave you heard of Blue Collar Underwear? Chances are you haven’t heard of this brand. I think it’s definitely a brand you should know! They were “started to revolutionize the way you feel about your underwear and the way your underwear feel and look on you. Our goal with every pair of underwear is to bring functionality, fit, feel, comfort, quality and affordability back to the underwear industry. And we’re doing so without sacrificing style.” They go on to say don’t let the “Blue Collar” name fool you, they have made their underwear for everyone.

I have been talking back and forth with them for a while. We have profiled them on UNB a few times and they wanted me to review some of their undies. The first pair I received was the Blue Skies City Brief. I will be the first to say that Trunks for me can go either good or really bad. BUT, I’m kept and open mind because I never know when I’ll be surprised.

The first thing I noticed was the fabric was a mesh fabric which I kind of liked. When taken out of the package, it worried me that they maybe a little small. But after sliding them on those fears were dispelled (more on sizing below). These were kinda stretchy and really felt amazing. I will say I’m surprised how well they fit and felt. Remember you have to step outside your underwear box sometimes!

Let’s look at the comfort of the pair. The first thing I noticed was the fly. It does have a functional fly and had a white panel on the right side that thought added to the design. The fabric felt great. Honestly, I was surprised how well it conformed to my body. When I felt it out of the package it didn’t seem super stretchy. This was a pleasant surprise to me! I gave these a big challenge going to watch a sporting event in the sun of the south. If these were to not handle the hot day, I would be very disappointed.

The pouch is one thing I loved. Long time readers know that I love a great pouch. Being on the bigger side it is important. The initial reaction was the pouch may not be stretch or be comfy. Sometimes in trunks, the pouches can loose their shape. This one did amazing. I was really impressed and it’s one of those pairs that makes me enjoy trunks.

The size I reviewed was an XL. The XL fits guys 36-39. I am 6’4” and 245 ish ( on a good day) my current waist size is 38. The pair fit pretty well. I am on the upper end of the scale. It didn’t bind or feel too small. I was happy with the sizing. These days more and more companies are doing their own sizing so it’s super important to pay attention to the sizing charts (Which we will have all updated on our site soon). Never assume you’re a certain size, ALWAYS look at the size charts.

Pros:

  • Fabric felt amazing
  • Great pouch that was supportive

Cons:

  • Some may not like the functional Fly
  • Only in Darker colors (love to see this in some bright colors)

  • Daily Fit – 9.5

sly-hyper-plaid-boxersThe pair I am reviewing is the Sly Hyper Plaid boxer briefs. When I first saw this pair I was in love. The plaid coloring on these pair is cute and appeals to me. I will say I am a true Portland guy who loves anything and everything plaid! The packaging was really unique as well, it came wrapped in a pouch that reminds me of thick parchment paper. The underwear wasn’t as soft as I expected when I first pulled them out, but they are soft when you put them on.

I decided to really test this pair out by wearing them on a day I had to work both of my jobs for a 13 hour work day. I also had them on for well over 24 hours since I started working at 1 am and then didn’t change clothes until the next day. One of my jobs was doing shipment at Express, which is in the back room where it is hot from the steamer, and requires a lot of standing and sitting and moving around. The package this pair came in called them “Work Hard” meaning they are designed for the working part of your day to keep you comfortable. I have to agree with the company’s description. After wearing this pair for all day the elastic around the leg holes stayed tight and never stretched out. The pair was also comfortable and didn’t move all day long. At times I even forgot I was wearing them because they were so comfortable.

The pair is a size small which covers a 30 to 32 inch waist. The pair fit me really well even though I am around a 28 inch waist. I think the bubble butt helped to make the pair feel tighter even though my waist is smaller than what their sizing says. The pouch isn’t huge but it fit me just right. At times I actually felt like I had more room than I needed in the pouch.

I really like this pair of boxer briefs. The design is fun and bright and colorful. I am going to be wearing this pair more often. They were comfortable and held up to all the movements of my day. It isn’t often that when you have a bubble butt you aren’t readjusting your underwear throughout the day.

Pros:

  • Held up throughout the movements of my day
  • Fun color and pattern
  • Comfortable on the body

Cons: (if I was to have to choose one)

  • The pouch was more roomy than I am use too

I loved these and would love to get more pairs from Sly! Sly Collective furnished these for review.

interview-IV-neotrunkFor a second there, I thought I was dreaming. How can it be that since my start at UNB I have not only met some amazing underwear enthusiasts, but now I’m receiving pairs for reviews! It is kind of like dying and going to heaven, except not as dramatic.

I digress. For the duration of this review I will be covering the Interview IV Neotrunk from Interview Brand Underwear. When Tim sent out the list of pairs the team would be reviewing, I was a little surprised: Interview was not a brand previously known to me, something that doesn’t happen too terribly often. However, it only took a Google search for me to get really, really excited.Based in Los Angeles (woo!) Interview features a wide selection of underwear styles from trunks to jockstraps, many of which come in fun and attractive colors. Mine were no exception; the Neotrunk pair I received was a royal blue color with yellow around the thigh and white around the waistband. The colors were amazing right out of the packaging, and I appreciated the contrast. To the touch the nylon feels amazing; almost like silk…all of these things I noticed and appreciated before I had even put them on!

For reviews, I really try to put a pair through the ringer; and choose to wear them on days when I know I will be doing the most of everything. This pair was spared no grief and went through a whole day of work at school as well as night celebrations with my friends and boyfriend. Overall, the pair was a great success. I mentioned before the vibrancy of the colors: these held up when I put them on and I discovered that I quite like the look of blue around my butt-I don’t have many pairs in any color close to it so I enjoyed that newness. The yellow thighbands and white waistband help give this pair an edgy sporty look, and would make it appropriate for date night or another day at the office.

Tim sent me a large and I think this was a good choice. Since they weren’t too small, I got to avoid a lot of the “riding up” that would have occurred if I had gone with a medium, and it meant my thighs didn’t appear to have muffin tops of their own from being too restricted. The 90% nylon make up of this pair also meant that I had plenty of ventilation breathing room as I went throughout my day; keeping in mind again that I am constantly running around being chased by children. I was especially appreciative of this considering the absolute heat wave Los Angeles experience the week I received the pair; I hardly sweat at all and the pair didn’t feel like I was wearing another layer of clothes that trapped heat.

One quick note before I wrap this up: it is very common for underwear (especially trunks) to come with a seam down the middle of the pouch like they do in this pair from Interview. What I’ve noticed is that this pouch caters to a specific type of man, the man who tucks his junk forwards, away from his body. This seam, while also providing support, enhances the look of a mans pouch and make it look more pronounced. That being said, what about those of us who tuck our junk towards our body?

Often times I find that this seam leaves us with a little bit of an unsightly pucker because the pouch isn’t filled out like it was meant to. While this is really just a prefrancing issue, I could see why someone would be frustrated by the way this looks (or what it would look like to someone else) and on a personal level, I try to avoid this style. I can’t level this as a negative aspect of this pair and this pair alone, as I mentioned this is common in hundreds of styles and brands. But it is something I noticed while wearing this pair; not that it changed my overall opinion of it in the slightest.

Overall, the Neotrunk from Interview is a great, versatile pair of underwear that would function well at work, the gym or at play. Priced at a cool $21.00 this trunk also comes in at a pretty reasonable price and would be a great choice for anyone looking for a solid pair of undies. So in summary:

Pros:

  • Great colors give it an athletic but fun look
  • True to size
  • Material is super lightweight and airy

Cons:

  • Nylon feels like it could rip very easily

These were furnished by Interview for review.

Jumping JohnMack Weldon is a company that has been in the new. Literally, they were written up in the New York Times for using more realistic guys in their ads. This one thing gave me hope that the underwear would match the coverage (no pun intended) over the last few years. They are not flashy or have crazy designs. Mack Weldon is a more classic styled underwear line.

Mack Weldon sent us several briefs to try. Alex already posted his video of them about a week ago. Now it’s my time to try. When I took them out of the package the first thing I noticed was the bright orange. UNB James loves the color orange, but I’m not so big on it, but the brightness of it I really liked. The second thing I noticed was the size of the brief. These are more tighty whitey style than I am used too. It always scares me to try a brief this size. I get flash back to previous pairs that loose their shape and become baggy through out the day.

I reluctantly gave them a try. I just knew I would be cursing my underwear choice through out the day. It wasn’t until about 3:00 PM that I realized the pair was doing great and not loosing its shape at all. I didn’t do anything crazy just daily activities. The brief was M00B02-MY_1made out of quality cotton that conformed to my body. In the back they had something I didn’t notice till later. There is a fabric panel at the top in the back, sort of a crescent moon shape. I would assume this keeps the back from getting baggy and really be form fitting. This pair surprised me. One last thing is on the fly there is a super small branding tag that is just a cool touch

The fabric this brief felt amazing. I knew it wasn’t pure 100% cotton and has some spandex mixed in. The official list of fabric is 47.5% Long Staple Cotton / 47.5% Modal / 5% Lycra. THAT’S IT! Modal! Modal is one of my favorite fabrics for underwear. The way they mixed this in was brilliant. Previous pairs of Modal can be very thin and fragile. Get it caught on a zipper and that pair is done. This mix is really great and Mack Weldon out did themselves.

Sizing is always a big issue. I’m 6’4” and about 245 so not the small guy by any means. I currently have roughly a 38 inch waist. The sizing for the large I reviewed is 34-36. I was surprised when I looked at the size chart. Granted they were a little tight but they fit great. I prob could have used a larger size but it didn’t bind or make me feel constrained through out the day.

Mack Weldon really impressed me with the undies. This pair could have gone horribly wrong. They took time in sourcing fabrics and construction so my hat is off to the crew at Mack Weldon. Would I buy more undies from them? Absolutely! It’s a classic style that every guy needs in his drawer!
Pros:

  • Amazing Modal/Cotton Fabric
  • Great fit through out the day
  • Classical Styling

Cons:

  • Maybe too plain for some of our readers
  • Not in super bright colors more subtle color palate

  • Fit – 8
