Winter is around the corner. I know certain parts of the US and Europe are already feeling the bite of winter. So, it’s time to start thinking of underwear to keep you warm. If you are like me Long Johns have always been something that you dread to wear. I say this because they never fit well and always felt like I was wearing another pair of pants under my jeans. My solution to this was to wear running tights as opposed to long johns.  While this is not ideal it fit better and kept me warm.

We now flash forward a few years and long johns have started to be fashionable. Companies are starting to pay attention to them and making them with a better fit and in colors/patterns. There are pairs you could easily wear as loungewear with out anyone knowing they were long Johns. Here are a few pairs to check out:

Mundo Unico – Do you want something that fits great but is classic in styling. Check out the Long John 96101101. They will keep their shape and keep you warm at the same time. Available in Black, Navy and White. Made from 93% cotton/7% Spandex. The pair retails for $45 on the Mundo Unico Store Site.

2(X)ist – Maybe you want just a little flair in your long johns, check out the Tartan Long Johns.  2(X)ist has almost traditional pair, I say traditional because it has a fly front. But the pair is not traditional because of the great tartan waistband. It is available in white and black, with a fly front. Made from 100% cotton. Available for $30 from the 2(X)ist website.

MaleBasics – If you want a performance pair of long johns then the MaleBasics Microfiber long johns are just the ticket.  These feature a “special uplift technology. Made out of 78% nylon and 12% spandex, so they will move with you through out the day or what ever activity you are going!  Colors Available are Black, and White and cost $42. Find these on the MaleBasics Site.

Narciso – Narciso maybe a company you may not know to well. They are based out of Argentina. Their take on underwear is very interesting. They call the long johns “Long Boxers.” These long boxers are full of stripes. It is ranges from subtle to wild! These are some long johns you wouldn’t mind the world seeing. Finding them maybe harder but Erogenos has a few pairs for $42.

Timoteo – We all know Timoteo makes really great undies, but did you know he just released new long johns in his Sport 2.0 collection?  These long johns have the Sport 2.0 waistband and a pouch in an accent color. The main colors are Black, White and Blue. Made out of 96% cotton and 4% spandex. Available online for $36

Frank Dandy – If you are looking for something WILD then you need to check out Frank Dandy. They have solid long johns but the ones to check out are the Cavalaras (skill and day of the dead looking), Jaguar animal print (on a solid orange background), and Comic Square (a quilt/patchwork pair in two colors). These are def  not your fathers long johns! These have to be seen! Made out of 95 % Combed Cotton / 5 % Elastane. Available online for $59.

These are only a few pairs of long johns. There are many more being released. If you have a favorite pair leave a comment here. We can’t cover them all but think one of these will be perfect for you!

We love bringing you guys great new places to buy underwear. There is a new online store called Designer Drawers. This weekend I got a chance to meet up with the owner this week to talk about their recent fashion show.

They had 11 models at the sports themed show called “Tailgate Fall Fashion show. The brands they showcased are also the same brands they sell. These brands include Timoteo, Baskit, Pistol Pete, N2N and Skmpeez.

“It was an amazing show with a great turn out. it was held at a gay bar but a mix crowd turned out. It was an exciting night!” said Matt the owner.

Wanna know a secret? I love wearing leather. It’s true. I love underwear but I also love the feeling of putting on a leather garment. I don’t wear many jocks though it seems lately I have been getting a bunch. So now I can add a leather jockstrap to my growing collection. For those of you that have never worn leather let me break this down for you in a very PG rated way. There are groups of people that love wearing leather as a fetish/lifestyle. It’s primarily associated with gay men but there is also a large straight population as well. Within this leather community there are people usually more dominant and more submissive in nature. The leather garments they wear often illustrate their power role. The Leather Pouch Jockstrap is basic enough that it could be worn by anyone regardless of their role. And here is the best part: It’s a really comfortable jockstrap.

Now I don’t recommend wearing this jock to work out in but I did wear it all day long with no discomfort. The jockstrap is made from black elastic with the leather pouch. The leather pouch comes in a variety of colors, the pair I reviewed was black leather. The other color options are yellow, red, blue, grey and white. The elastic waistband is 2 inches wide. It’s just regular elastic. Its not super soft or scratchy but it is a little stiff and will soften often time. The straps are one inch wide. It’s very much a regular jockstrap. The pouch is made from two pieces of leather that has a center seam down the front. There is plenty of room in the pouch. I should also mention that the quality of the leather is really nice.

There was one tiny snag with jockstrap. During the day I went to pull up the waistband and heard a rip. That’s when I realized that the one seam attaching the top of the pouch to the elastic waistband had ripped on the side. The pouch began to separate from the waistband a bit. It was totally my fault for trying to yank it higher up. However, even though I ripped the seam the garment didn’t fall apart. The separated  side was only half an inch long and didn’t continue to rip even more. It’s hardly noticeable. And anyone with a sewing machine can easily fix it. I wouldn’t say that my accident is because of the products poor craftsmanship but I would recommend that Jock’s by RJ consider double stitching the stretch stitch on the pouch to the waistband.

The pricing for leather products can be ridiculous. As much as I would love to get more and more the truth is, I have rent to pay.  I recommend this brand. If you are new to leather then this is a great economical brand to begin exploring with. They also can custom make any order you place. For example on their website it says, “if you are hard to fit because you have a small waist and large legs, you can just give us your measurements and we’ll make sure your items fit perfectly.  No more worries about whether online items will fit.” There is also more than just leather and jockstraps available. I cant wait to try some of their different thongs.

Pros-

  • Great quality leather
  • Comfortable design

Cons-

  • Seam ripped

It is with GREAT happiness I write to you about the Galaxy Wrestler singlet by N2N Bodywear. Now anyone that knows me intimately will be able to tell you that N2N was my first designer underwear crush. Sadly, being the college student I was, I had to wait until the sales happened, as I gleefully clicked through their 5$ and 10$ digital “bins” looking for my selections.  Those who know me through circus, will know that I usually end up wearing a one piece to train in. I’m a professional aerial circus artist. I need my torso covered or else I’ll get friction burns all over the place. So, I was the lucky reviewer picked to tell you all about a great wrestling singlet by N2N called the Galaxy Wrestler.

The Galaxy Wrestler is N2N’s most covered singlet. The Galaxy is a one-piece tanktopped singlet, made out of 83% Nylon, 17% Spandex. The design features contrast block panels down both sides, with N2N branded in little flat metallic dots down the side. There is no front seam, but there is a back seam, which is the optimal fabrication for a singlet, so your behind gets nice definition to it, while the front doesn’t get the “guillotine” feeling. I really like the design of the singlet, because the seam lines and color block detail really emphasize the chest, and help narrow the waist. There are three-color options for this singlet, black with platinum sides, olive with cream sides, and navy with baby blue sides. Putting it on, as always with N2Ns stuff, you can’t help but feel sexy. They sure know how to make products that feel good on the body.

Since this is an article of clothing I train in, and I train everyday, I happily gave it a test drive through my daily schedule. Putting a singlet on can sometimes lead to some odd arm/shoulder contortions to get through the neck hole without stretching too far and ripping the elastic. The Galaxy is cut open enough that getting your body through the neck hole isn’t that big of a hassle.

My day usually consists of about 1-2 of stretching to gain flexibility and elongate the muscles before training. Then usually about 2 or more hours of actual circus training (trapeze, aerial hoop, hand balancing, acrobatics). Followed by at least 2-5 hours of teaching circus classes.

During my stretching was when I really put the singlet through its paces. Because a singlet is a top and bottom connected, your lower half movements have an effect on your top half garment and vise versa. The 3 areas you’ll notice can go VERY wrong on a singlet/leotard…etc are the front crotch, back crotch and shoulder straps. If any of your forward or backward bending body movements make it feel like either the front of your crotch or your tailbone area are being sliced by the seam of a singlet, it doesn’t fit well. Also, you will notice the straps digging into your shoulders to accommodate the lack of room down at your crotch.  Having dropped that bit of knowledge, I am happy to say the Galaxy fits wonderfully. It feels snug, without chafing, but doesn’t feel baggy either. Goldilocks’ hunky brother would be happy to wear this.

The fabric feels great, it manages sweat very nicely, it fits snugly (and looks sexy), and is designed well. I am proud to not only to add this to my collection of training clothes, but it’s probably my favorite now too.

Pros:

  • Great fit
  • Good color choices
  • Sexy design

Cons:

  • Kinda pricey, but the fabrication is quality.
  • I wish I was sent all three color options to review 🙂

CellBlock 13 has become one Jockstrap Central‘s best selling brands ever so it only made sense for them to bring in another two hot edgy designs: The Mechanic Brief and the Prizefighter Jock Brief. Here’s the details:

Mechanic Brief

CellBlock 13 takes the all American brief and gives it a total tune-up resulting in a fashion forward and totally hot item. It’s a low-rise brief made with a mesh stretch fabric that’s gives a nod to the future and provides welcome air conditioning both front and back. Exterior detailing in the form of contrasting piping make for one luxury ride.

Prizefighter Jock Brief

Like the previously launched Gridiron Jock Trunk, the Prizefighter Jock Brief is almost the same, yet cut short like a brief. With the same ultra-modern perforated stretch fabric and ass-cut-out-of-it backside, it’s certainly the hottest range of jock briefs on the market and a total knockout.

Jockstrap Central has both designs in three fetish friendly color combinations – red with black for those who like it hot, black with blue for the leather crowd, and black with yellow for those who like it wet.

A new video launching today, “Leaves Changing, Bodies Blooming,” introduces viewers to C-IN2 Clothing  Co’s new selection of colors for its Fall/Winter 2012 Collection that stays colorful and vibrant. The video was shot on location in Tuscany by fashion photography sensation Rick Day.

“The trend with Fall/Winter color palettes is typically to go darker and more serious. We know that C-IN2’s customers like to stay colorful and have our great underwear accent their wardrobe,” said C-IN2 founder Gregory Sovell. “It’s the age of jet travel, and somewhere in the world, the flowers are always in bloom. As Isabella Rossellini says in Death Becomes Her, ‘I follow the spring. I haven’t seen an autumn or winter for years.’ That’s what shapes Fall/Winter 2012 at C-IN2.”

The Fall/Winter 2012 features new fall & winter inspired colors for each 7 of C-IN2’s groundbreaking lines of underwear.

ZEN, now in Plum Wine, True Blue, Dark Emerald, Polar Rose, and Lemoncello, is a combination of Rayon (made from Bamboo) and Cotton fibers blended to give a special transmission of comfort. An update for 2012 replaces the leg bindings with microfiber elastics. The elastic leg tension is adjusted accordingly for the different styles. Fabrics are unchanged and the peaceful balance remains.

GRIP, available in new color Charcoal in November, is a completely new approach to high performance men’s underwear using cotton in a dual layer technology that actually transports moisture away from your body. The result is that you feel dryer faster, so you can sweat longer.

FILTHY, inspired by the idea that filthy dirty is definitely sexier than squeaky clean, is now in Olive Fatigue, Denim Indigo, and Army Brown. Filthy is a collection of textured fabrics that have been hand-rubbed with pigments and dyes to give a dirty worn-in, worked-in look.

POP COLORS AND STRIPES are so popular because they’re so colorful. This season it’s Russet Rust, Moony Blue, Flame Orange, Espresso, Grape Grey, Emerald Green, Pagoda Teal, and Extra Magenta. Colors change seasonally and there’s truly a limited supply.

HAND ME DOWN, now in Espresso with Teal, Russet with Emerald, and Denim with Grey, is C-IN2’s special vintage look. This collection was inspired by the younger siblings who ended up with their older siblings hand-me-downs with the wear and tear apparent. This product continues to get better the longer you own it. Colors change seasonally; limited quantity available.

PRIME is the high end of luxury. Now in Voilet Shake, Hemp (dark khaki), and Cold Blood (a true seasonal red), this collection takes the best of the best and C-IN2 makes it better. C-IN2 blends 60% Cotton and 40% Modal Viscose to make a fabric that’s softer than soft, but retains it’s shape. This collection maintains a ultra wide microfiber engineered elastic waistband that stays in place throughout the day. You’ll feel the difference.

CORE is C-IN2’s best selling underwear. It’s the everyday 100% combed cotton basic underwear in white and black, and now the grittier heather grey.

The new video can be seen at: www.C-IN2.com or on the brand’s Facebook page: www.facebook.com/CIN2ClothingCo

Gregg Homme is back with their 2012 Fall collection. Gregg Homme is one of the most creative brands in the men’s underwear market. They think outside the box and consistently come up with incredibly hot and sexy underwear made for men. This year is no exception.  They have come up with great styles and some more incredible fabrics.

The first line is the new Charged collection. This has a Gregg Homme banded waistband with two see through bands. If you know me, I LOVE a great waistband.  “Made from 91% Polyamide and 9% Spandex this smooth and breathable hi-tech micromesh material is handpicked from the finest European fabrics.” This line I will say is probably more conservative when you think of Gregg Homme. Meaning it’s not made of mesh, super small cut or right colors. It does have the great fit and materials known to Gregg Homme, because you can’t always wear skimpy underwear. There are five styles in this line the Trunks, Jock, Muscle Shirt, T-Shirt and String. The five styles also have five colors: Black, White, Red, Blue and Yellow.

Venom is a line that shows that animal prints aren’t dead!  The line consists of a snakeskin pattern.  But it’s not the typical snakeskin pattern, it’s an embossed subtle pattern printed over a breathable polyester/spandex fabric.  This really shows how well Gregg Homme does with fabric selection. It’s one of their key differentiators of the brand It’s could be considered fetishwear by some. The Venom line is available in Red and black in four styles: String, Boxer Brief, Thong and Brief.

Gregg Homme doesn’t always do underwear that is super sexy but they also have some really cool loungewear. The loungewear is called Musk, but I will admit its Gregg Homme and of course it’s going to be sexy. It is made from a brushed microfiber. This will make a great fabric for lounging around. The fabric has an abstract pattern in black and white. So you can wear it as underwear or lounging around the house.  It’s available in five different styles: Muscle Shirt, String, Boxer Briefs, thong and brief

Who said animal print was not sexy? You may think that sounds crazy, especially those who don’t like animal print. But, GH has turned animal print into something sexy and fun with the Appeal line. This means it’s a translucent animal print, so it’s not 100% see through but be prepared to have a lot showing. They did this line in three colors, Black Navy and White. Depending on which color you get, will depend on how see through it is! Available in a string, boxer brief, thong and brief.

Gregg Homme has done their very first singlet. I would say singlets are going through a rebirth of sorts. It seems that more and more companies are doing them and leave it to Gregg Homme to put their very own spin on the singlet. The singlet is part of the Combat collection.  The Combat collection is a tie-dye pattern in green and the entire line has a soft black mesh pouch. Again, as we have said it’s not for the shy or those who don’t want to show off.  The line is available in the singlet, boxer brief and Brief.

What would a Gregg Homme line is without a little bit of fetish wear? You may remember the Master from the last collection, this time it’s the Haze collection. It’s a rubber looking material with buckles. Gregg Homme is not one for putting in things just for decoration. There is a function to what they design so the buckles actually work. This line also mixes mesh and the rubber like material.  Have you ever bought fetishwear that never felt good and was uncomfortable? I can almost guarantee that this line will feel great all day or night long! This is a line you must see it’s very hard to describe! Available in a muscle shirt, double brief, boxer brief and single brief.

Find these and more at the Gregg Homme Site.

We have expanded our staff a little bit over the past week.  The newest guy on the blog is Jon. He’s joining us as a college student and also another straight guy into underwear. Which we think is awesome. It’s really great to get more guys straight and gay into underwear! Here is a little about his journey into underwear

In the eyes of modern media and society, to have an obsession with fine underwear and be straight is the equivalent of being a hippie during the Vietnam War and support President Johnson’s foreign policy. Modern culture just doesn’t want guys to be this way and while the majority of straight men wear loose fitting, old, and crummy boxer shorts and boxer briefs, there is a silent minority of underwear conscious straight men, which care deeply about the underwear, the styles available, and the industry as a whole. My name is Jon and I write this piece today for Underwear News Briefs as a straight man, which fits into this category. I am a current college student and what you would call your average guy. I love to watch baseball, football, hockey, and watch most types of auto racing. Along with this, I enjoy playing pickup sports frequently when time allows, having some beers with good friends, and chasing girls at night (usually failing, although you still have to think of yourself as a player!). Over the past two years, I have discovered the awesome variety of men’s designer underwear available for purchase and while at first I was a bit self-conscious in terms of hiding what I was wearing under my pants, I have now learned to appreciate what I wear and speak more openly regarding my underwear.

Prior to making the switch to designer underwear and specifically briefs, I was what people would term the “crummy boxer” guy. Because of locker room homogenization and the straight fear of being an outcast because of your underwear, I reluctantly wore underwear which I not only thought were not eye appealing, but more importantly, incredibly uncomfortable. Even my girlfriend at the time thought my boxers were stupid and lame! However, once college hit and I could no longer take working out and dealing with chafing and weggies, I made the switch. At first, I was very self-conscious. I can remember the first time that I went to play football one summer night wearing my new CK briefs under my shorts. One guy that is a regular attendee of the pickup games is a big prankster and has the tendency to “pants” people often. Throughout that game, I watched my back like the mafia was hunting me down. I was so terrified of being emasculated by my friends or even lose friends as a result of the underwear that I was wearing. Luckily, there were no issues that night. In my drawers at home, I would make sure to keep around three pair of “normal” boxer briefs to cover my CK’s in order to not catch any grief from my brothers or parents. I would even go as far as refusing to let others do my laundry. In the crowded locker room at the gym on campus, changing in front of others made me self-conscious. Standing in just my briefs, there was just an unexplainable feeling that all eyes were instantly glued to my undies. At that time I felt like a fool and I thought that those eyes were looking down on me in laughter, however; I tried to not be deterred. I just kept telling myself that they were just briefs and that it’s not that big of a deal.

It was only this spring when I finally began becoming more open in public about my underwear. Now when I play football at night, I honestly wouldn’t care if I got “pantsed”. Even if everyone on that field laughed at me, I would not hesitate to say that I wear designer briefs because they are so much more comfortable that whatever you guys call underwear, along with being so much more eye appealing. Because of the close-knit group of friends that I have, I know that my underwear choice would never be a deciding factor in a friendship. I would probably continue to get lots of jokes and they may last for a while, but I would hope that out of this, a few of them would consider trying what I was advocating. The fear of my family seeing my briefs in my top drawer has long since passed. I don’t care what they say and honestly why should I? They are just underwear and are there to make me feel the most comfortable and confident as possible. As for the locker room, that is not a big deal. Like I just previously said, they are just underwear. Most people that go into a locker room want to get out as quickly as possible so the likelihood of some guy giving you dirty looks for wearing “gay” or “weird” underwear is very slim. Today, I change in a public setting without reservations.

I have one story to share, which brings my tale of achieving confidence in my briefs full circle. Last winter after a party, I ended up at a hot tub with a few girls and we all just decided to strip down into our undies to chill out and get warm. I knew I would get a reaction when I took off my pants and I certainly did which honestly, I was excited about. Wearing nothing but a pair of 2xist micro modal no show briefs, I splashed my way into the Jacuzzi and to my surprise and delight; there were no negative remarks. One girl even said that she found them HOT. Yes, there were a few looks, but it was probably at something else! What a great night that was. It eased so many of my fears.

Straight guys reading this and considering making the switch, DON’T HESITATE! I can’t fully explain to you how great it feels to go on a nice long run without pulling sweaty boxers out of the crack of your butt. Imagine that! You feel so much sexier wearing briefs and you sure as hell don’t have to worry about constant weggies caused by sitting or walking, or for that matter do absolutely any activity. I know that at first the fear within straight men of excommunication as a result of your underwear is very real, but I can assure you that your true friends will always be your friends no matter what is underneath your pants. Even if some jerk in a locker room starts giving you crap for your briefs, just stand there and speak you beliefs. Why should he honestly care? Hey, you never know, you could even convince some people to switch and follow your lead! Like I have said multiple times, its just underwear, but it is no doubt the most important thing you are currently wearing. Have confidence in yourself and wear what you think not only looks the best, but also feel the best. Trust me, I have been there, you will not be sorry.
