You know the eternal mantra in fashion that ‘less is more’? At Deadgoodundies that’s always translated perfectly into sales. The smaller the product, the better it sells on this UK website dedicated to male undies and swimwear. Thongs have always been a best seller, for years rivalled – but always beaten – by micro/bikini briefs. But now tanga cuts are nudging their way to the top. Men like the minimal fabric, maximum room to manoeuvre an active body and a flat waistband that serves as side straps. But most of all the sporty look works best with the athleisure fashion trend.

A tanga by any other name. Different brands call men’s underwear cuts by different names, but a tanga is basically two triangles of fabric suspended from a smart waistband, and joined underneath. Designed well, these underpants offer good coverage and support – and maximum style. The MAX XV also happens to boost the boys beautifully!

ERGOWEAR MAX XV BIKINI £24.00

If you’re already a tanga man, Modus Vivendi is a go-to collection for undies that enhance and flatter the male physique. Their colourful cotton tanga trios are quite a treat…

Modus Vivendi Cotton Tanga Multipack (3 Pack) £36.00

Of course it’s essential the cut of a tanga is absolutely perfect. HOM’s version comes in the softest cotton modal fabric that still offers just the right support.

A subtly sporty option in white, black, grey or a great deep blue.

HOM Classic Tanga Brief £18.00

Teeny tiny tanga kini… Minimalists will adore the colours and contours of Joe Snyder’s famous tangas. This one comes in a single size only to fit 28″-36″ waist. Always a huge choice from this collection on DGU.

Joe Snyder Candy Kini 12 £24.00

If you prefer something more sensual then Manstore is the name to watch. This double strap design is just one example of a constant supply of sexy underwear for men from designers who delight in risqué.

Manstore M712 Micro Tanga £30.00

The thing about a great tanga on DGU is that it will sell out FAST. This Rio Tanga from Olaf Benz has been an instant hit – perhaps because of the intense colours or the shimmering fabric. Again, one of many from a collection that’s never shy of showing off.

Olaf Benz 1763 Rio Tanga £31.00

The weather in the Eastern part of the US has been crazy. We are warm one minute and below freezing the next. It’s not the weather you would normally talk about swimwear. Unless Gregg Homme released their new line of swimwear. Their swimwear is not as sensual as their underwear. I’m not claiming that it’s boring either. But, when you go from leather and see-through material. Their swimwear is always amazing.

There are four new lines. They are the Cruising Collection, Flamed Collection, and Sea Reef Collection. The last you may recognize the name! Here is a brief overview of the new pairs

Cruising Collection

The new Cruising collection comes in three different styles. They are Boxer Brief, Thong, and Brief. This is a more color block collection. Available in Red, Grey, or Khaki.  Lastly, this line has a matte finish to the fabric.

The pricing for the line is:

  • $60 for the boxer brief
  • $34 for the thong
  • $50 for the brief.

Cruising Brief

The Cruising Thong

The Crusing Boxer Brief

Flamed Collection

Looking to spice up your swimwear with a bit of color? The new Flamed Collection has a bold vivid print! The line comes in a Boxer Brief, Thong, and a Brief. The fabric is a matte finish just like the cruising line. The colors are just the print!

The pricing for the line is:

  • $60 for the boxer brief
  • $33 for the thong
  • $50 for the brief.

Seareef Collection

Swimwear should be bright and fun! Unlike the other collections, the Sea Reef one is a solid with two stripes. The colors of this collection just POP. It’s my favorite of the collection. The colors of the line are Grey, Orange, or Aqua.  These will make a statement on the beach. Just like the other collections it’s available in a boxer brief, brief, and thong

The pricing for the line is:

  • $69 for the boxer brief
  • $54 for the thong
  • $62 for the brief.

As we ease into 2018, the UNB Staff has each made a resolution to try a couple of new styles throughout the year. We all have our different likes and dislikes, and hopefully, you will be able to find one of us to relate to and reach out to for underwear advice. Read below to see if our resolutions are anything like ours, and don’t hesitate to let us know if we’ve missed something that you think we need to be looking at throughout the year!

 UNB Ryan:

Two brands I really want to try in 2018 are Body Aware and JOR. I am attracted to the variety of styles each designer offers for different reasons. Body Aware offers many styles that blur the line between male and female, as well as masculine and feminine. Body Aware uses numerous styles and fabrics I think would make any guy feel sexy. Jor offers a modern approach to underwear and swimwear with daring styles and vibrant color choices. I am particularly interested in trying out some of their workout wear. I love the feel and look of a sexy thong paired with a set of skin-tight leggings in the gym, and can’t wait to try some this year!

 UNB Tim:

The brand I want to try this year is L’Homme Invisible. They are a brand we have covered over the years. They have a unique design aesthetic. They are creating lingerie for men. Not that it’s all lace and such but it’s to make the man feel sexy. I have asked a few people about the brand and they all love brands. Men’s underwear is more than everyday wear. We need underwear that makes us feel sexy and fun. I think this brand will make me feel sexy and awesome. My goal this year is to try more brands outside the US. This will be the first of many to come!

Cocksox

Underwear Dude:

This year I am looking to keep doing what I’ve been doing for the last few years, keep trying new brands and getting more from my favorites. I don’t have any brands, in particular, I’ll have to see what catches my eye this year. Though I do have a Cocksox gift card waiting for me to decide what to get with it. As for styles, I’ve tried most of them already. I am thinking about wearing the few jocks I have more often this year to try and see if I actually like the style or not.

UNB Mike:

Brands and styles I want to try in 2018:

Cellblock 13 – I love the sporty/fetish look and the color combos are great.

Body Aware – They have some awesome lace pairs that I really want to try. There are also some cuts like their tangas that look super hot. I’ve never had anything from them so I’m up for trying any (and all!) pairs.

Modus Vivendi – There are so many great pairs and lines that I want to try here! The hip-hop 90s and Dali pairs look awesome, and they’re about the only brand that does lace in awesome masculine colors.

Colors – I’ve come to the realization that a lot of my underwear is black. I probably pick that a lot because it’s usually a default color option, plus it always looks sleek, classy and sexy as hell. But I’d really like to venture out into some more colors this year. The brands above all have great color options so I don’t see that being a problem.

Fetish/gear – Already covered somewhat with Cellbock, but I’m really drawn to the sporty and kinky side of some of the fetish and gear options. I love that most people consider it to be so outlandish and wild and they could never picture someone they know wearing it. There are so many options with leather, lace, neoprene, black, colors, sporty, super kinky, etc. Bring it all on this year!

The Bottom Drawer:

I’ve been eyeing some of the more expensive brands like Olaf Benz, Manstore, and Gregg Homme. They have some bikinis and thongs that look pretty nice. Plus I’ve heard positive things about the brands. I probably won’t be splurging on them though. A brand I may give a try this year is Modus Vivendi. Their low cut and mini briefs have been drawing my attention in both underwear and swimwear. I also like their unique take with their marketing photos for some of their lines. Last year I tried Bruno Banani for the first time. The fit of the thong I tried impressed me. Now I wouldn’t mind trying one of their tanga briefs. There are lots out there I’d like to try, but these are a few on my radar.

The Thonged Ginger:

I’m very happy with my thongs and a few other choices, but I would like to get a Brazilian cut bikini, those look pretty sexy.

Joe Snyder Bulge thong– I have heard a lot of good things about these thongs and i want to try them for myself.

Mckillop– these just look good to me for some reason and I want to give them a try.

These are the big brands the rest are smaller manufacturers.

 Dustin:

 ERGOWEAR

I actually have tried one pair of Ergowear – a thong that was a gift.  However, it’s definitely a size too small so I’m not counting it as a real shot.  Their underwear looks nice and simple but the pouch is pretty unusual.  I like having room up front and have definitely become more particular about pouches over the past few years.  For me, I have everyday underwear and “fun” underwear and Ergowear seems like it might be a good blend of both.

The first pair I would try: the Suave Bikini.

JOR

I’ve been coming across JOR here and there for years and just haven’t pulled the trigger.  Next time they’re having a great sale, I will have to get a pair.  I have always thought their brand was fun, from the waistband to all to colors/combinations.  Again, most of their stuff is pretty simple in style/cut, but with a twist that might make an everyday pair just a bit more fun.

The first pair I would try: the Soft Navy Bikini & the Tayrona Bikini.

BODYAWARE

I do have some Bodyaware that I received for review through this site.  I’ve always told UNB Tim I’m open to reviewing any style – so he sent me something I’d never tried!  Let me say that I have an underwear obsession, but am not into women’s underwear.  I’ve meet many guys that are, and that’s cool, but it just isn’t my thing.  So, I never really thought I would like something from Bodyaware, but after wearing the Greek God, it definitely got me interested in trying more of their gear.  A lot of their stuff really is lingerie for men, and in a world of basic bitches who only wear black boxer briefs, I love that there’s a brand that will go WAY outside the box and create styles that clearly have a demand, but might not be as socially acceptable.

The first pair I would try: the Rare Earth Thong and the Glistening Satin G-String.

I hope that you are able to take some inspiration from one of us before we get too far into the year. If you have any questions about any of the styles above, or if you have a suggestion about a style you’d like to see featured in the future, please drop us a line and let us know!

Regular readers of this site know the importance and benefits of wearing great looking underwear. The confidence boost, sex appeal and overall feeling it gives you is all the reason you need to ditch the 3-pack of saggy department store boxer briefs. But if you’re new to the wonderful world of underwear, or just want some suggestions on new pairs to wear on a date night or the upcoming Valentine’s Day, we have you covered. I’ll give you some options based on how long you’ve been with a person, and whether your tastes run mild to wild.

First date

If this is your first time out with a guy or girl, or even if you’re out with friends and think that there’s a chance you might be showing someone your underwear, it’s always a good bet to go classy yet sexy. You don’t want to scare someone off if he or she isn’t expecting something like a leather jock on the first night. Therefore, choose something black, simple and sophisticated.

Mild

Black trunks in a high-end fabric benefit you and your partner. You get to look, and feel great, plus your partner gets the hint early on that you’re capable of doing better than Hanes from Target. The 2(x)ist Speed Mesh No Show Trunk shows that you care how you look, even if you’re 99% naked. It’ll give you the confidence from the start to make this work! It also sets the stage that your underwear choices will be a step above the normal guy.

Wild

Sticking with black but also not going too crazy, black briefs are a classic can’t miss. There will be plenty of opportunities to show your crazy and kinky side; the first date isn’t necessarily one of those times. There is nothing better for this than a Calvin Klein

Steel Micro Hip Brief. It’s an amazing feel and if someone has a problem with you wearing this, they’re not for you. Rock this on the first night and you’ll have no worries about showing them your wild side soon!

A few dates in

By this point, you’re comfortable enough with a person where they should know the type of underwear you prefer. You and your partner might be to the point of getting down to your underwear when you’re sober or in daylight!

Mild

Even if you lean towards the mild side, you can still show some thought and effort to all aspects of your outfit. You had a solid start with sleek and sophisticated black, so now you can start showing your creative side with some color in your underwear. The Pump Frosh Jogger gives you a solid burst of color in a cut that shows you off in the best ways. It’s cut small enough to make your date very happy to see you in them, but still mainstream that you can wear them in the gym without raising any eyebrows.

Wild

At this point in a relationship, someone with a taste for the wilder side of underwear can start breaking out the fun stuff! Anything from Gregg Homme will make you look and feel like a rockstar. The Torridz Hyperstretch low-cut brief has an amazing 8-way stretch material that will do wonders to highlight your best assets. Pick a great color like aqua and your partner will be constantly trying to get a peek in your pants to see if you’re wearing this super sexy pair.

A special night

After you’ve been with someone for a while, you might want to plan a special evening or even just want to spice things up a little. This calls for some kickass undies! Even if you think you lean towards the mild side, break out something like the pairs below to really impress your partner.

Mild

Whether or not you call yourself mild when it comes to underwear, you owe it to yourself and your partner to strut your stuff in a thong every once in a while. There are too many great looking and fantastic fitting thongs made for men these days to miss out. Picking the Sports Thong from Cocksox is the best way to bring out the big guns yet still feel fairly mainstream. This pair has a near perfect cut and fabric, so pair a special night with a special pair. You (and your partner) will not be disappointed.

Wild

If you think of underwear as the ultimate form of expression and have no issue wearing anything and everything, picking out something wild for a special night opens all kinds of possibilities. This is where you can incorporate great cuts with wild fabrics. The Modus Vivendi Flash Floral Lace Jock delivers all that and more. You get the super minimal jockstrap cut that shows off everything about you, plus the awesome look and feel of that great blue and red lace. Maybe this is the first time your partner has seen something this wild from you, or maybe you both know that a special night calls for the special undies and hopefully…a special ending! Enjoy!

It’s been one of the coldest winters in a while, especially in Atlanta. When I get home from work, the last thing I want to do is have to go back out. It’s time to put on something warm and watch Netflix all night. One thing that is perfect for these nights is onesies. One of the super fun ones to wear in front of the fire is the Camo Onesie from N2N!

This style came out a few years ago and earlier this month we profiled the mesh onesie. Which I’m not sure will keep you warm wearing it along but it will keep you warm if you wear it with someone! The camo onesie I can picture a weekend in the mountains drinking hot chocolate.

You may be asking how comfy this pair would be? The mesh one you can pair with a thong, jock or bikini. The onsie has a seamless pouch that will give you support. You can wear it to lounge around in or under jeans out and about. The fabric is an 80% cotton 20% spandex blend. It will stretch and move with you throughout the day.

Over this past weekend. Andrew the man behind the brand, posted pics of him in the Onesie taking down his Christmas decorations on his deck, giving his neighbors a show. These were posted on his Instagram account. Which was awesome! I mean you gotta stand behind your product.

If you want more camo, make sure you check out the Camo Classic Bikini or thong! It’s the same fabric in some smaller cuts. Which N2N is known for making! They make amazing bikinis! Wear them under or on their own. Just rock the camo anytime you want!

COLORS: Camo
FABRIC: 80% cotton 20% spandex
SIZES: X-Small – X-Large
COST: $60.00

Did you know we once had a podcast? You can go listen to the older episodes still on iTunes. We have talked about it internally for a few years but now I feel it’s time to really bring it back. We have some great guys and there are some things happening in the world of underwear that deserve talking.

The first episode we have planned is around thongs. This will be the first of many discussions we will have about thongs. This style has grown in popularity by both gay and straight guys. Bigger than I would have ever thought. We have a few guys you will know form brands/social media to talk with us.

Other plans we have are just roundtable of the UNB guys talking underwear. We will all bring a topic to the table for a discussion. It could be a news item we weigh in on. Something controversial we have a debate on. Yes, there are things to debate in the world of undies. And now that recap of Magic/Project during and right after the show.

We will even want real guys who read the blog to join in from time to time as well. One thing that I think is a strength about UNB is we listen to you guys and always ask your input on things. We love hearing back from you and some of you, when you disagree post comments, email us or talk to us on social. Which to me is awesome. We want to have some real guys on to share what the guy on the street has to say. We will post on the blog and social media for guys interested in joining.

What do you need to join a podcast? Now it’s easier than ever to join. The last time you needed a computer and headset. Now you need your cell phone (iOS or Android) and Skype. That’s it. We can record everything and put it out!

Before this week the answer to the question, “Does cold weather define your underwear choices?”, would have been a resounding  “No way!” However, the deep freeze that has enveloped the country has made me give this a second thought. The reason for this is I was at the grocery store on a very cold day and felt a draft. At first, I thought I tore my pants (not fun for a public space). After confirming that was not the case I remembered I was wearing a Jock Brief. The cold air was a little noticeable on the exposed areas.

I don’t ever remember this happening before, but it doesn’t get into temps in the teens very often here in Atlanta. For a full week, we have been barely getting above freezing during the day. I’ve been wearing Andrew Christian undies for upcoming reviews. Nothing too skimpy or revealing. Friday, I went to put on a pair and thought, “It’s going to be colder, I better wear the Unico Boxer Briefs. Which were a good choice for the day!

This got me wondering how many of you just say fuck it and wear bikinis, jocks and thongs on cold days. We have readers in Chicago, NYC and Toronto. Areas known for their frigid winters. I like to be warm but not too warm. Wearing long johns when I have to go to work is just too many layers. I like to only wear them when I have to be outside more than inside. Hell, I don’t like wearing undershirts under my shirts because I get too hot on regular days.

My new winter undies will be briefs and boxer briefs. Not just any boxer briefs but those from Mundo Unico and Ergowear. My love of the pouch still has to be there. I just don’t want any more drafty moments during the cold. When the weather warms up next week I’ll be back to whatever I want to wear. If you change your undies due to hot or cold let us know.

Rolling into January is a great time to review everything from the past year, especially underwear! I decided to dig up all the pairs I got in 2017 and give some thoughts and highlights. Writing it all down makes it a little eye-opening. Depending on who you are, this might seem like a ton or a slow year, but it felt like a decent amount for me.

New pairs: 33

  • Briefs: 27
  • Thongs: 3
  • Tanga/bikinis: 3

Brands: Gregg Homme, Cocksox, Andrew Christian, 2(x)ist, Joe Snyder, Justin Case

Highlights:

  • Tried lace for the first time! Love them and will definitely get more!
  • Modal material is my favorite; feels great, excellent stretch
  • I clearly have a thing for briefs but I’m always willing to try anything new.

Favorite pair:

Outlook for 2018:

  • I want more lace! It’s an area that’s growing and I feel like you just need to try it to see how great it makes you look and feel. Brands have been great about expanding their offerings and there’s plenty of new ones I want!
  • I’d like to get into some of the fetish and gear options. Brands like Cellblock 13 and Nasty Pig have some great looks and color combos that I really want to try!
  • I averaged less than 3 pairs a month in 2017. I think I can bump that up, especially with so many brands and pairs I want to try this year!

When you think of sexy undies and gear, N2N Bodywear is one brand that comes to mind. They have turned sexy gear into an art form. Just when I think I have seen all N2N has to offer, Andrew breaks out something that makes me do a double take! The Sheer Onesie was a pair that did that. You can wear something under it or not. It all depends on your mood.

If you are familiar with their previous Onesie, it’s the same design but with a mesh white or black fabric. The design has a 3/4 sleeve and leg. This is not going to be a pair to keep warm in. You may get hot in it but for different reasons. Personally, I like the pics with a thong or jock under. Just something super sexy about that look to me.

This pair is great for a night in with someone special. But I wouldn’t bet on it being on for too long! It would be pretty awesome to wear this skiing and then take it off when you’re off the slopes for that romantic night. Just sayin’. This just reaffirms why I love N2N Bodywear! They are about making a guy feel amazing and comfortable in the gear he wears!

NOTE: we didn’t post the sheer with out anything under but you can see those at the N2N site.

COLORS: Black or White
FABRIC: 83% nylon / 17% spandex
SIZES: X-Small – X-Large (at the time of writing this, XL was out of both)
COST: $60.00 (on sale)

Joe Snyder furnished the Maxibulge Cheek in pink for review.

Rating: 8.4/10 (Average of the ratings below)

  • Daily Fit: 8/10
  • Sizing: 9/10
  • Construction: 8/10
  • Styling: 9/10
  • Daily Performance: 8/10

Pros:

  • Hot Pink fabric stands out anywhere!
  • Roomy pouch accentuates your package
  • Comfortable for all day (and night) wear

Cons:

  • My only complaint is the large care tag (Sorry I can’t get past this!)

UNB Ryan’s recommendation: Joe Snyder’s Maxibulge Cheek boxer (if you can even call it that) is a sexy take on a boxer brief. This suit has a pouch that lifts and accentuates your package, making it appear much larger than it is and rear coverage that separates your buns and doesn’t quite cover them completely. If you like the cheeky boy short styles sold for the girls, then you’ll love this suit. The gathered rear coverage feels very similar to wearing a traditional thong, as it stays right in place all day long!

To restate my opinion on Joe Snyder’s line of underwear-they are made with a quick-drying fabric that can easily transition from underwear to swimwear. Also, all of their suits feel great against the skin and don’t feature elastic in the leg holes or anywhere else unnecessary. Joe Snyder sent me a pair of their Maxibulge Cheek Boxers in pink for review, and of course, I was thrilled at the opportunity to try something different! As you all know, I wear thongs almost exclusively and the cheeky style is not in my normal rotation. The Maxibulge line offers a suit for every body type and occasion, and you should be able to find one in a color that suits your personality. They are constructed with a high emphasis on highlighting your package, as they lift it up and out, and ensure it is the highlight of the suit!

While I have only worn this suit as underwear on two separate occasions and not in a public setting, I am certain that you could get away with wearing this cut at any beach, pool, or waterpark without fear of offending anyone. I will definitely be putting it to the test this coming spring and summer in some of the locations I can’t wear a thong! When worn under a pair of jeans, there is a very noticeable increase to the size of your bulge. I imagine that this will increase even more when worn under a pair of slacks in the office. If you are looking for a style to increase the appearance of your package, Joe Snyder has definitely come through with this line! Also, this suit is very supportive! If you are looking for something to wear while working out the pouch on this suit should keep you supported while going through your routine without pulling you out of place as some thongs have the tendency to do.

As expected, the quality and construction of this suit falls nothing short of Joe Snyder’s reputation of excellence. The only suggestion I have with this, as well as any of Joe Snyder’s other suits, is to shrink the care tag! The styling of this suit more than makes up for it, as there isn’t an inch of this style that doesn’t cling to your body. From the pouch in the front that silhouettes your package perfectly to the rear that clings to every inch of your ass cheeks, this suit is sexy. You would never have thought that a suit with this much coverage would feel so sexy when you pull it on! The bright pink that I received this suit in does nothing but add to the fun you’ll have while wearing this suit! I can’t wait until warmer weather to wear these outside washing our cars or doing other outdoor activities!

I have yet to find one of Joe Snyder’s styles that is out of line with the fit. Each suit I have worn from them is right in line with industry standards in my opinion. The one piece of advice I can offer is the differences in the pouch sizes. I have tried the normal Cheek Boxer from Joe Snyder, and it has a noticeably smaller pouch size that the Maxibulge style, for obvious reasons. If you need a pouch with more room, please give this or one of Joe Snyder’s other Maxibulge styles a try!

To recap, this suit is very well rounded (no pun intended) and may be worn in about any circumstance you could run into. You could comfortably and without fear of ridicule wear this suit anywhere you like, from the locker room to the beach and everywhere in between. I plan to wear these to work when I finally go back next week and look forward to filling out my dress slacks a bit more! I look forward to seeing what new styles Joe Snyder will offer in 2018 and will continue to shop with them. If you haven’t tried anything from them before, give Joe Snyder a try!

Before the Holidays we asked you if you ever gave underwear as gifts and would you shop at a men’s underwear store. We have the results and wanted to share them with you:

You guys def want to shop at a men’s underwear store.

The majority of you guys want to travel 25 miles or less to shop at a men’s underwear store

Most of you have shopped at a men’s Underwear store already. Which is higher than I thought it would be!

Much like the results above 25 miles appears to be the sweet spot for distance to an underwear store.

Most guys want the option of shopping online and also at a store.

Some of the Favorite stores you guys shop are:

  • underU4men in Portland OR
  • Andrew Christian, and some smaller ones in SF, San Diego
  • Toolbox in Indianapolis while there for other events.
  • Skivvies (Dallas), Tapelenders (Dallas), Universal Gear (Houston & DC), and 2 stores in Ft. Lauderdale/Wilton Manners in Florida.
  • Andrew Christian Flagship & Factory Stores. WeHo Block Party, When living in Northern California there were a few mens underwear stores in the Castro, but they seemed to close before I moved back to Los Angeles
  • Egoist Underwear and Cram in Chicago
  • BoyNextDoor in Atlanta
  • Mojoman, Orlando; Pride Factory, Ft Lauderdale; several others in Ft Lauderdale; one in Miami I don’t remember the name

Why do guys shop at Underwear stores?

  • I had a long layover in Portland and was downtown killing time when I happened upon the store, so I went in and shopped
  • Same day availability
  • It was nice to feel the fabrics and see the options
  • Variety. I love trying new things, and going to a dedicated men’s store exposes you to brands you might not know about
  • I like to be able to feel the fabrics if possible — Just a material description doesn’t tell the whole story. Also, when I shop in person, I am more likely to buy stuff — when I shop on line, I frequently decide its too expensive when its time to put in my credit card.

Why don’t you shop at underwear stores;

  • None close to me. Would take over an hour to travel to nearest one
  • Awkward, not sure about trying on things
  • It’s fun to go to underwear stores in a town where no one knows you. You don’t have to worry about being seen by your neighbor while shopping for thongs and jockstraps
  • I prefer places with a good selection of brands, and the closest men’s underwear stores to me are brand specific (Andrew Christian) — and even if I like the brand, I like to mix it up a bit
  • Their selection isn’t what I’m into. Lack of thong styles

If you missed the survey share with us your reasons why or why you don’t shop at underwear stores.

If you are like me you’re on the constant lookout for bikinis. Which, luckily, the style is becoming easier and easier to find. More brands are starting to produce the style. One of those brands is Candyman. They have always had smaller cuts like bikinis and thongs. And sometimes even more briefer cuts! The first collection of Candyman for 2018 is out!

There are a few really great styles but there are six new bikinis that I think need special attention! Looking at the style you can see it’s a low cut, no-fly, smaller waistband and fullback. Our friend Bikinisnthongs I think would approve of us calling these bikinis. If you have been a long time reader of UNB, you know that Candyman is all about fun. These are no regular bikinis they have some great prints!

The Candyman Frosting Bikini – has a floral print. It made me do a double take to see if it was swimwear. From what I gather it’s underwear. The print is awesome and fun. The blue background makes this my favorite of the six. Underwear should be fun and this would make me happy to wear!

Candyman Cheetah Bikini – If you are a fan of animal prints you ay love the cheetah bikini. This has a solid black front with a cheetah face on the back. It’s kind of a surprise! But still is a lot of fun.

Candyman Pineapple Bikini – If the Frosting Bikini is a little much but you love floral prints. The Pineapple Bikini could be a big hit for you. It’s a pineapple print on a solid black background.

Candyman Hands Bikini – This is the most fun pair of the new collection. The hand’s bikini is a black bikini with two handprints on the back. It’s like someone had paint on their hands and grabbed your butt. I could see me wearing this on a date night and asking, hey did you put your hands there!

Candyman Lion Bikini – Just like the Cheetah bikini this is a black front with a lion face on the back! It’s definitely not your regular bikini print.

Candyman Kitty Bikini – Lastly is the Kitty Bikini. If you are a cat fan you can have underwear with a cat face on the back. Not a big game cat but a regular cat!

If you love these and want to see more Candyman go to Candyman Fashions.

PetitQ is a brand that is not sitting still this year. This is their 8th collection they have released this year. That is almost a new collection every month. Which is A LOT! When the PetitQ boys released their line I hoped it wouldn’t be an over the top collection that ended. And it wasn’t. They have been going strong for a few years and I think we will see a lot more of their undies!

The brand has really grown. They have kept the super sexy cuts, see-through materials, and barely there designs. These things have become one of their signatures. Over the years they have used many different fabrics that you don’t think “men’s underwear.” I think the rules of men’s underwear have been broken! Brands like PetitQ are writing new ones where masculinity is defined by the wearer, not the materials. A perfect example of this is a guy can rock a pair of lace briefs and still feel masculine and like a guy.

This new collection has a theme of cutouts. The PetitQ boys you can tell have fun creating these collections. If you follow them on social media, you will see they wear their own undies. Also, in this collection are super skimpy cuts! Which I think is a staple of the brand. Here is an overview of the new pairs!

Andrew Christian releases new underwear on a pretty regular, frequent basis. The beauty of this business model is customers always have a reason to check out the site and see what is the latest and greatest. It also pushes the designers to always be innovating and have something provocative and new all the time. The newest FUKR line delivers Provocative with a capital P!

The FUKR line from Andrew Christian has always pushed the envelope in terms of sexiness. Past items have included materials such as mesh and net in every underwear style imaginable including a brief, jock, and thong. The latest FUKR styles continue that trend and then blast you in the face with a slick, glossy polyurethane fabric in bright cherry red. This definitely gives the pieces a very erotic, fetish-gear type of look in a brief, boxer and jock brief.

The FUKR Provocative Brief uses a fairly traditional brief look but uses the red polyurethane fabric with black contrast and leg binding. The FUKR logo is repeated on the waistband as an almost abstract pattern. It’s a nice design touch if you’re not looking at it close enough to realize what it says.

The Slit Boxer takes the traditional trunk shape and turns the erotic factor up to 11 with a devilish slit cut in the back. From the front, it looks like a normal trunk in the sexy red poly fabric again. But head around back and you get an access design that totally fits the FUKR mentality and fetish feel of the material.

If glossy bright red poly underwear somehow still leaves you wanting more sex appeal, grab the FUKR C-ring Brief Jock. Close your eyes and picture the regular AC brief jock. Then cut out the front and replace it with a detachable c-ring. And dip it in bright red glossy polyurethane. This thing is on fire!

All 3 of these items give you multiple options to get your sexy on. No matter how much “accessibility” you choose, any of these styles will have you and your partner dying to get your hands all over that juicy red goodness.

Everything Andrew Christian releases is a limited edition and once it’s gone, it’s gone. This is why the FUKR line originally included a c-ring singlet as well, but that thing flew off the shelves and is only in the hands of lucky owners now. So get your hands on these while you can!

We just had an article from Ryan talking about some of the thought and logic that goes into how he picks which underwear to wear each day. Here are some of the ways I do it.

For the most part, I pick out my clothes each morning, and my underwear almost always is coordinated with something I’m wearing. I have a lot of “Blue Mondays” where shirt, socks, and underwear always contain blue. I usually try to participate in Thong Thursday as well. I’ll even swap shoelaces to red, blue, green, etc. on some days and tie that into my color choices. Every once in awhile someone at work will comment how my laces match my shirt. I always get a laugh, thinking “if only you could see what else matches 😉 “

Those are some of the little things that give me something to look forward to when I’m picking out what to wear.

The type of clothes I’m also wearing usually factors into my underwear choice. If I’m wearing jeans or pants that are pretty slim and tight, I’ll pick the smallest, skimpiest underwear I have. In the dead of winter, I might grab some boxer briefs first just to have the added warmth and compression on my legs. And sometimes I’ll purposely pick something totally opposite of what else I’m wearing just because it’s my own little secret. For example, I might be super casual in jeans, boots and a flannel but I’ll have a lace bikini on too. I love thinking how shocked people would be to see the whole picture!

The other side to choosing underwear is dealing with rotation in a huge collection. Most people here have collections in the dozens, if not hundreds of pairs. How to get through that amount of choices requires logistics and planning as well. My underwear drawer(s) are definitely stacked with some sort of preference to favorites going towards the top. However, every few days I’ll still flip through the stacks to see what I haven’t worn lately. As much as I’d love to exclusively wear my absolute favorites, I know that wearing and washing underwear is a good way to put a lot of wear and tear on them. I like to make sure everything gets into the rotation, otherwise, it’s not even worth keeping. Plus, pulling out something that hasn’t seen the light of day in a few weeks is a good way to get reacquainted with a pair that you might have forgotten about.

That’s what goes on in my head every time I go to pull out a pair of underwear. How about you?

When I started UNB almost 10 years ago, the site’s readers were almost 100% gay. This was not a shock to me, being a gay guy who has always loved underwear. I wanted to share my passion with others and introduce others into the world of amazing men’s underwear. As we grew, our readership grew and so did our straight readers. I would interact with them and have become friends with quite a few straight guys. They would tell me friends and ex’s would tell them they were gay for wearing something such as a bikini, lace, thong or anything else skimpy and bright.

This made me go WTF? Underwear makes you gay? If only, I could finally date someone into undies (I jest!). Straight guys are supposed to wear boxers and boxer briefs. These pairs should have no fashion or form. Look at the pairs in the big box stores. Granted, they have improved over the last 10 years but they still don’t offer the support and fashion of men’s “fashion underwear.”

Where did the “gay” label come from?

After talking to Salvatore the other day via text about this. It got me thinking. He mentioned he read an article where gay guys in the North East wore swim briefs and labeled the entire line “gay”.  Yeah, this could have happened but it goes deeper than just a regional thing. This is all over the US and has been for a while.

One of the biggest is peer pressure. Even when we get out of school a lot of people want to fit in and not rock the boat. If all their friends are wearing boxer, you should be wearing them too. If you deviate from the norm you are labeled as strange or in this case gay. I can’t tell you the number of guys who have told me they wore boxers over their bikinis or thongs so their friends wouldn’t find out they loved something skimpy. If they didn’t do that, they would wear something basic when out with friends.

The next reason is the view of sex and of men in the US. Each year a big event during the holiday season is the Victoria Secret Runway show. It was broadcast on National TV during prime time. I think it ended last year. There were no thoughts of a woman in skimpy lingerie walking down a runway. Now, put a man in a bikini down the same runway and it’s “WAIT A MINUTE.”  Men in the US can’t be objectified as sexual beings. On broadcast TV you never see a guy in anything but boxers or boxer briefs. This is definitely a double standard in the world. We have seen this personally in ads we have wanted to run and a reluctance of some for working with us (some underwear brands and other brands.)

Was it always this way?

In the 70’s and 80’s underwear was moving towards bikinis and colors. It was not uncommon for guys to sport a bikini or something fun. I was in my early teens at the start of the 80’s and the underwear choices in department stores blew my mind. Jockey has some of the best bikinis, yes Jockey. If you know the Jockey of today it seems almost foreign. This is also where the nylon underwear came into popularity. Google underwear ads of the 70’s and 80’s

If you’re younger, one thing that will blow your mind is we had MLB and NFL players doing print ads for underwear. I”m not talking the Tim Tebow Jockey ads where you never saw him in the undies. Jim Palmer was in the pages of People magazine. He was wearing Jockey Elance or similar bikini. I remember seeing this and it blew my mind and I had to have those bikinis. Today could you picture your favorite baseball or football player wearing bikinis for all to see?

We also didn’t have the amazing fabrics of today. They were made of nylon, nylon blend, cotton and very few stretchy materials. I remember one of my favorite Jockey bikinis got a run in the pouch. A run like you would get in women’s stockings. Being a broke high school kid, I didn’t have the money to replace them. Then shortly thereafter the line was retired.

Then it all came to an end by the end of the 80’s. We saw the introduction of the boxer brief. Then the dull period of underwear. Where you could get colors but only black, grey, or white. It was this way for a while. Luckily the internet came along and brands were able to find markets for their smaller cuts and bold colors.

Is Underwear Currently Gay?

When you think about what the public considers gay underwear. They include thongs, lace, bikinis, and bodysuits. The general public my turn its nose up at those but we have straight writers who love them. UndiesDude, TheBottomDrawer, TheThongedGinger and UNB Ryan all love thongs. They are some of the biggest thong lovers I have ever seen. As for lace, UNB Mike has really taken to lace and finds it super sexy. UNB Ryan wants to try a bodysuit.

Speaking of straight guys loving underwear. Right now the majority of UNB writers are straight. I didn’t think this would happen for quite a while. When I think about it I think I am the only gay guy, active on the site right now. After working with these guys they have a massive love of underwear. At times I think their love for undies stronger than a lot of gay guys. It makes me smile to see them really get involved in the underwear world. I consider these as friends as well. It’s awesome that underwear brought us together.

What happens next?

We are slowly moving towards a world where guys can wear what they want. It’s slow! From 2008 till now I have seen movement in what companies are producing. Going are the boxer briefs and briefs and bikinis are growing in new lines. The double standard is still there where you can’t objectify a man.

Unlike in the 70’s-80’s, we now have the internet and blogs where guys can find what they want and meet other guys into the same undies. Guys can be anonymous on the net. There are many straight guys on Twitter and Instagram showing their love of undies. One of them is JayinCA who has become a part-time guest writer here. Remember, if a straight guy is posting pics of him in underwear, don’t assume he’s gay. This goes to the gay guys, people like to show off and share their love of underwear. Don’t call them gay, ask to see X pics or send them dirty messages. Send them messages of encouragement for putting themselves out there. Social Media can be harsh and we need to support our underwear brothers. Our brothers who are gay, bi and straight!

Curious as to how you think we can change this going forward. I don’t have one right answer for moving forward. It’s a very complex issues. Some would say its a trival one but it reflects the society in general. Let’s have a real and honest discussion about this guys.

What do you wear under your clothes every day? More so, how do you pick it out every day as you get ready? Do you lay out your clothes and underwear the night before? Or do you pick them out at the spur of the moment as you get dressed? Do you match your underwear to anything else in your outfit or do you pick them out based on your mood at the time?

I tend to pick out my underwear based on my mood every morning, and also like them to match my clothes as much as possible. For instance, if you see me wearing a pink shirt or sweater, there is a 100% chance that I am wearing a pink thong underneath! I also like my socks to coordinate as well, so there’s a pretty good chance that they will match what I am wearing.

Another consideration that I give is what I will be doing throughout the day. If I am going to be doing something active, I may decide to wear a more supportive pair of underwear. Conversely, if I know I am just going to be in the office all day I will usually opt for a slinkier style thong or g-string to wear under my dress slacks.

I’m curious to see if any of you follow the same routine as I do. If you have your own system for wearing your underwear, I would love to know! For those of you with sizeable collections, how do you rotate through them? Do you wear them all or just several of your current favorites? Do you and a partner wear matching pairs?

IMG_0200Drop me a line in the comments and tell me what you do to pick out your underwear every day. Maybe you can help me find a way to cycle through my entire collection again!
