Today’s Brief Distraction kicks off a week of Gregg Homme. We have a lot of things planned so you need to come back every day to see them! Todays pairs is from the Mood line!

Whether you’re aware of it or not, our state of mind is often heavily influenced by what we wear. Gregg Homme finds the juste milieu in terms of underwear with MOOD – a collection of styles specially designed to soothe and relax a stressed mind to!

The pair I got to review is the Pistol Pete Tease Jock. Having the feeling of support is most important when wearing a jock strap. But having the freedom is also important.

Mostly I have nothing but positive comments to make in regards to this jock strap. First of all, I LOVED the fit. It was very comfortable. At times, it felt as though I was wearing nothing. It was fantastic. The Sheer material was very soft and breathable which I love. The top band doesn’t cut off or restrict your waist. It has a very pleasant feel to it and it also cups your package very well. This Jock Strap feels like you are wearing nothing but yet I still have the support. Also the sheer material keeps you nice and cool down there so you don’t get sweaty as you can with wearing a regular jock strap.

The first and only con I have is that it is made of a thin material so I would be scared for it to rip easily or not being durable. Even though it moves well, if it was to shrink it may rip. But With the material being Sheer and pre shrunk, I don’t think it would rip unless pulled on very hard or getting caught by a sharp object.

Overall, This is a pair of underwear that you can wear daily or wear in sporting events. Just make sure the other boys don’t get too jealous of your jock! I would recommend this to any man that wants to try a jock strap that he can wear with any activity. Or for a man who is just getting into some gear wear. It is so good, that you can wear it wherever and whenever you want!

Go Softwear introduces the B-Erotic Collection.  This ensemble is designed in a rayon-spandex/satin mesh fabric for an Alluring and Provocative European flair. It comes in a hi-cut brief, full-cut brief, jock, V-neck tank and a super sexy CHEEK brief combining a brief/jock design all in one. The colors consist of Turquoise, Surf Green, White and Charcoal. The B-EROTIC Collection is available through Go Softwear site and at stores throughout the country.

The saying usually goes ‘Now you see it, now you don’t’ … but the Bum Chums Sneak Peek briefs let others see it all day long! This particular pair comes in black and features mesh-body brief with their signature, logo waistband. The Waistband is elastane, while the body of the brief is made of nylon and lycra.

I tossed these briefs into my gym bag, knowing that I would be heading out straight from the gym that night for and event before a late dinner. Upon first inspection, I noticed that the rise was slightly lower than a previous pair of Bum Chums I had reviewed a week or two prior. I preferred this lower rise, and also how thin and light the fabric was, fitting nicely under my ‘straight from the dryer’ jeans that night! I always enjoy knowing that I have a fun secret under it all!

Who couldn’t resist a pair of mesh briefs? Especially in a black basic cut like this particular pair! The briefs were quite comfortable, with a soft waistband and elastic trip. I really enjoyed the fact that these had a single-layered pouch; I have noticed that many brand double layer the front of mesh briefs for some reason or another. There is a center seam that runs down the front of the pouch, while the rear is constructed of a single piece. The cut of the brief accentuated my assets quite nicely, however, the pouch didn’t have much of a contour to it, squishing my ‘gents’ quite close to my body … This didn’t look right, I have come to find that for a mesh brief to achieve a certain level of ‘sex appeal,’ they have to have more of a pouch to properly present things up and out, as opposed to compressing them.

Like with all Bum Chums, my only real complaint it the large tag fixed to the outside of the wait band on most of their garments. This tag is far too large, and doesn’t have much of a purpose other than carrying a logo. There is a size and care tag sticker fixed to the inside of the waistband, which is meant to be removed before use, however, I am the first to forget such instructions. The pouch was also not quite roomy enough.

Pros

  • single layered pouch
  • sheer, soft mesh
  • soft waistband

Con’s

  • uneven seaming
  • small pouch
  • front logo tag

Jack Adams will release the new Gridiron Jockstrap on May 25, 2012 as it follows through on its plan to become a leader in the jockstrap market. This is Jack Adams’ third jockstrap style released in 2012 with even more planned for the remainder of the year.

The new rugged Jack Adams Gridiron Jockstrap was designed to capture the essence of an athletic experience. It has a thick two-inch waistband with a drawstring and a bold zipper front. Meanwhile, the soft four-way stretch mesh wicking fabric will keep men cool in the most humid conditions. This sexy jockstrap also provides the ultimate in comfort and support with the roomy contouring front pouch that Jack Adams is known for. It’s so comfortable that it will become an everyday jockstrap for many. Made from 95 percent polyester and five percent Lycra, the new Gridiron Jockstrap is available in four colors: black with white trim, white with black trim, black with red trim and black with yellow trim.

The Jack Adams Gridiron Jockstrap is available for pre-booking online exclusively at 10percent.com. Upon its release, the Gridiron Jockstrap will be available at other online stores as well as local community retailers around the world.

Coming off of a very strong first pair, I’m now ready to conquer another Bum-Chums review. But will it fair as well as its counterpart?

Yes! I’m thoroughly impressed with Bum-Chums so far. Their underwear is sexy, stylish, unique, well built, and not badly priced. The Bum-Chums In2Cooler Air Brief is no exception. Made of a cotton/Lycra/polyamide mesh blend, and available in white, black, and red. This brief encompasses everything that I’m starting to feel Bum-Chums stands for.

Take for example the mesh. Other companies mesh can look trashy, either cheaply made or just being too blunt in what is shown. Bum-Chums (while showing off a great deal in this pair) has found a way to show off the mesh in a very playful and classy way. The mesh is well made, and shaped to show off, but not totally expose.

They are perfect for the average day of wear. I’m not sure I buy into the idea of the mesh cooling your lower bits, but they are quite comfortable even during an early summer picnic.

If Bum-Chums continues in this direction, I’ll have a new favorite brand. They’re fun, sexy, comfortable and always leave me looking forward to the next time that I can wear them (as well as my next pair that I get to review).

PROS

  • Comfortable
  • Sexy
  • Playful while still being classy

  • Don’t clean themselves?

This past year has been the year of the animal print. But, what if you just wanted a little bit of the print to show your style? Well, you are in luck now with the Primal line from 2(x)ist. The new line has a waistband that is animal print. Meaning it’s just a touch of print and you aren’t overwhelmed with a wild print. Primal would be perfect under some low rise jeans, showing a cool waist band.

The line features:

  • 8% Nylon / 12% Spandex
  • Ultra-Contoured Pouch
  • No-Show Rise
  • Colors: Black or Tan
  • Styles: No-Show Brief and No-Show Trunk

Pricing is $30 for the brief and $34 for the Trunk. They are available at the 2(x)ist website.

Recently WWD had an extensive article on the multi billion dollar, global men’s underwear industry. Men’s underwear has come a long way from when there was just not that many choices; & most were packed 3 to a box, purchased without much thought, time or attention. Men’s underwear was literally in the closet; worn for utilitarian purposes & nothing more. There was no fun in the search & purchase of men’s underwear, unlike women when they purchase shoes. Calvin Klein changed all that back in the 1980’s with his traffic stopping Time Square poster. 2(x)ist became the hot, must own, wear, seen & be seen in underwear in the 1990’s.

Today there are well over 100 brands that carry the designer’s name (Andrew Christian, Michael Kors, Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein); & those that have some sort of cute eye catchy formula (2(x)ist, C-IN2, 4Skins, 2Wink, 3G); until I created FU e=fu8 Underwear. Currently mine is the only brand that features my name and an enigmatic formula.  With a name like FU, I had to do sexy well made underwear (it would be a crime against male sexuality if I didn’t), and e=fu8 is my exclusive, trademarked formula for The Pleasure Principle.  Life is short, maximize your pleasure principle. I hope guys who wear my FU e=fu8 Underwear & those who see it will be reminded to carpe diem, & make the most out of their precious time; to spend it pursuing things that bring & enhance their life’s pleasurable experiences.

Unlike 99% of the brands out on the market today, FU e=fu8 is made exclusively in Manhattan, NYC.  This is due to my love of New York being the fashion capital of the world; and wanting something to be created in Manhattan’s resurging and famous Garment District.  It is my second home & is getting a second reincarnation; much like the Meatpacking District in NYC. It all started here in NYC; but so far, there have been buyers from Canada, Boston, Philadelphia, Ohio, Illinois, Germany, Austrlia, Portugal, California & of couse New York City.

I wanted to produce and design high quality well made underwear that will give guys confidence & that extra bounce in their step. The fabric is ultra soft and has a nice stretch, so you feel supported. The finest materials were sourced to make this underwear collection; the fabric is the best available, a plush high thread count 95% cotton, 5% spandex, I went with this premium & more expensive cotton; b/c I found other brand name briefs on the market use a very thin cheese cloth/rag feeling cotton that loses its shape after a few washings. I refuse to cut corners & sacrifice quality. I wanted to design & create something that I would want to wear myself (and I do) & be proud to have my name on it (and I am). I carry my current FU e=fu8 Underwear collection around all the time; people are instantly captivated when they see, feel & touch it in person.  At a recent birthday party for a female friend, before the evening was over, I had orders for 7 pairs from the guys at the party, and in a recent FU e=fu8 Underwear 2 day photo shoot, the model instantly feel in love with the Pleasure X8 Cut once he had them on; and the makeup artist begged me for a complimentary pair. I hope guys have as much fun wearing FU e=fu8, as much as I enjoyed designing it for the image & style conscious 21st century men who are always on the go.  FU e=fu8 Underwear is the bold, daring, new men’s underwear line that could… and the saga continues with jock straps, tee shirts, swimsuits in the not too distant future.

We just concluded our annual readers survey and one of the questions was how we should expand our social media. A wide majority wanted us on tumblr followed by Pinterest. Well we have created both.

If you were on Pinterest we have been playing around with it for a few weeks now, and will continue to post to it. Our address is http://www.pinterst.com/unbblog. We have a few boards and will expand as we go, follow our boards!

Next is tumblr! More and more people wanted us to start a tumblr. We have done just that and we will let you know it will be a little more racy then the regular UNB site! We won’t go too far but we will add more pictures there, some we can’t run on our blog, due to hosting rules. We have some pics from C-IN2, Andrew Christian, Timoteo/Cellblock13 and Todd Sanfield’s new book Hotel Motel book! Find us at http://underwearnewsbriefs.tumblr.com

Our friends over at FreshPair.com sent up some exclusive Q&A with Cover Male. They are one of the newest brands on the market. The thing you notice most is they are fun and bright!

Cover Male, which just launched in January, has already had a great response from consumers. What do you think sets Cover Male apart from other sexy men’s underwear brands?
As Cover Male’s Designer, one of the main things that I try to concentrate on is always having that touch of elegance and sophistication in every single piece designed, not only to create timeless and classic undergarments for the modern male, but to create/boost the self-confidence and self-satisfaction that every man deserves. I believe that Cover Male works well on portraying these elements with its bold colors and modern cuts; making Cover Male the new “it” and “must-have” brand of the year.

What advice would you give to the man who’s not familiar with fashion underwear?
The advice I’d give to all men in general is to be more aware of what they are rocking down under. Men’s jeans are not as they used to be anymore. Low-rise jeans are now made to sit on the hips leaving the waistband of their underwear exposed. Their underwear is more visible than they think, a slight bend over or a lift an arm can show the world what they’re wearing down under. So make sure to have a pair of underwear that looks good when you accidently show off that side of you; just have one of Cover Male’s waistbands for that brief flash tease, it should do the trick.

Is there a style you’d recommend to the man who’s considering buying his first pair of Cover Male?
Yes, I would recommend our basic cuts: Waisted-Up Bikini and Waisted-Up Trunk. The comfort of these styles is amazing! They provide a great fit, impeccable flexibility and most importantly, a great workout companion under your shorts

Stay tuned for Cover Male Cotton Collection and Sports Collection coming soon to Freshpair. Find more of this interview at the Freshpair blog,  http://www.freshpair.com/blog/exclusive-cover-male-interview/

I got to review another pair of the Male Basics lace underwear. I enjoyed the last pair MaleBasics and was excited to try another. This time the review Male Basics Triple Lace Thong. Its a lace front pouch with thin multiple elastic straps that make up the waistband. A single thong strap attaches to all three waistbands in the back. The pair was black (which is my favorite color!). I think this is a very sexy pair of underwear

Since the last pair was so comfortable I figured I would wear them to work all day. Spending 9 hours of sitting at a desk in a comfortable pair of underwear and then test them out at the gym. Its not often that I find a pair of underwear to be so uncomfortable that I have to take them off. After 6 hours they came off. This underwear is very hot but it is not a pair that you could wear for a long time. They are more suited as a pair of lingerie that you put on with the intent of taking them off quickly. Hopefully someone else is removing them off of you. Wink wink.

I had to readjust the thong strap several times because it was too short for a comfortable fit. When elastic is as thin as it was in this underwear it has a tendency to dig into the skin more when it is tight and this to be the case with the thong strap. Some people would think I needed to get a bigger size but the waist fit perfectly. The pouch offered less room than I needed. Perhaps if Male Basics continues to offer this product they would reconsider the length of the strap and use more lace in the front for guys that need more room.

Buy this if you want to turn your partner on. Just don’t sit at your desk too long wearing it.

Pros-

  • Sexy design
  • Fun Waistband

  • Short thong strap
  • Flatted pouch

The Equmen Crew Neck shirt is the pair I was lucky to review. If you are a long time reader of the blog you will know I have tried a few different Equmen prodcuts. They are usually very well made and fit great!

If you are not familiar with Equmen they are made to strengthen your core and help wilt your posture. Which the shirt does nicely, it makes you pay attention to your posture. I noticed a few times how tall I was standing. Equemen are sort of shapewear but not exactly. I know that sounds crazy but it’s a mix.

The shirt I received was white and really fit in under my dress shirt. I don’t think many  knew I was wearing a t-shirt that wasn’t a regular shirt. I wore this to work just to see how it would do in daily wear. It was really great. It didn’t ride up, bind or really be noticeable.

With that said, I am not one to wear undershirts on a regular basis. If you are like me if you wear another layer of clothes you get much hotter during the day. Here in Atlanta, that week it was a little warmer and it was a little annoying. The other thing that is a pain is getting it on after a shower. It’s like you are wrestling to get it on. I think if you turn it inside out and put it on you will be fine, but after a shower it doesn’t want to move.

Pros:

  • Great Fit
  • Increased Posture
  • Strengthens your core

Cons:

  • Made me hot
  • Wrestled to get on
