White swimwear has a lot of fans! While other guys will not wear it! Which are you? This is the new 7343 Molokai Bikini from Andrew Christian for $45.51.
One thing about aussieBum is they make super fun underwear and swimwear. Examples of this are the Billy, Paradiso, Neoprene and more! The newest line is called the Geotron. This line reminds me of an 80’s vibe in the color block and the design. Back in the 80’s you could get away with wearing swim briefs more than today. Although we are going through a swim brief renaissance of sorts.
The new range has solid and color block. My personal favorites are the color block. The bright florescent colors are HOT. Its the Sunrise that I think is my personal favorite. The blue/pink/green with the white trim is awesome! It is a pair that will command attention on the beach. If you want to tone it down you could get the solid black or Azure (blue).
This is what aB has to say about the pairs; “Geometric pieces, highest quality Italian lycra and bright colours come together in ‘Geotron’, our latest swimwear range. Available in three plain and three fresh summer-inspiried colour combos, this new brief style cossie is a season must have! 80% Nylon, 20% Lycra. Sheer Rating: Low 1/10. Waistband: Elastic”
They retail for $28.12 on the aussieBum site!
New swim season is here! This is the Darrell Low Rise suit from Timoteo! If you’re up for s fun floral print! If you want to check this pair out head to the Timoteo site.

Have you seen Little Rok? They are a great swimwear company that has some fun suits for the geek in all of us! We got a chance to talk to Rocco, the owner, about the brand.
Tell us how you combined your love of comics and bodybuilding and mixed it the world of designing clothes, specifically swimwear?
Since I was a little boy I loved drawing and also reading all kinds of comic books. When I’ve started working in the fashion industry, many years ago, I’ve put into practice my qualities as an illustrator to create and personalized some of the graphics of the new coming collections until, back in 2012, I finally started my own line Little Rok. I’ve realized that there are only a few lines out there that put together the world of superheroes and fashion that still allows you to feel comfortable and sexy and that’s why I decided to focus on swimwear.
You have two of my favorite swimwear, and made my geek side very happy, with the My Swim Cap and Star what was the inspiration? Who are your favorite comic characters?
It all started as a joke when I draw for a friend of mine a sort of my own reinterpretation of one of his favorites superheroes. I pictured this character with sportswear and sneakers giving him this way a newer and fresher look, and everybody loved it. I personally don’t have a favorite one myself, but what really fascinates me is the fact that undercover they are all normale people with normal lives but with superpowers.
What is the inspires you to take something from comics and put it down as a design?
I love comics because is like living in a fictional and fantastical world but with real people. For many years, I’ve followed the work of some of the most famous cartoonist out there, but only when I personally met Claudio Castellini, an Italian artist now working and living in the US, I’ve realized that I wanted to keep drawing superheroes and also keep working in the fashion industry. He was my true inspiration.
The Cap and Star are not the only pairs you are known for, tell us us about the “Huge” character. What was the inspiration? How popular has he become in the world of bodybuilding?
The “Huge” character was born from the idea of creating a superhero from the real and everyday life. A real man, in this case a bodybuilder, who cares about the way he looks and trains everyday harder and harder to always becoming bigger and more powerful. This way, he inspires people from all ages to become like him, not only physically but also mentally showing then that with determination and hard work anyone could achieve their goals.
The swimwear was the first thing that caught my eye. The Star picture made me stop and take notice. But you do things other than swim. Can you tell us about your other clothing you make?
Little Rok has a wide range of T-shirts, tank-tops, shorts, and sweaters made with different types of fabrics from cotton to mesh fabric, and also with different styles like the “raw edge cut” which I’ve noticed people like it a lot. Basically, a line for people who prefer a more sporty and casual look, and also for those who like to dress comfortable and fashionable while doing their physical activities.
Do you have any new comic collections coming out soon?
Yes, soon the new collection will come out with lots of cool and interesting characters. I’ve designed new t-shirts and tank-tops with the “My Star” graphic on it which now sort of represents Little Rok. New swimsuits are coming, and last but not least I’m launching this year a limited edition of the “BOOM” swimwear that was a huge success last year, not only among costumers but also among other designers from across the ocean.

It’s fast approaching summer and swimwear season. One of the companies you think of when you mention swimwear should be aussieBum. They always create great swim that will get you noticed on the beach. The Paradiso is a range that is bright, colorful and fun. Wearing this suit to the beach will command attention!
The Paradiso comes in two different patterns. The first is the Parrot and the second is the Toucans.
As you can tell each pattern has one of the birds mentioned on each hip. Granted its not for everyone but I think its amazingly fun. Its for the guy who wants to call attention to himself. The print is not one I have seen in swim. It has a tropical feel and when I saw it just made me smile. I thought aussieBum has done it with this pair!
If that’s not all the print on the back is just as big as the front:
That’s because you have the aussieBum name written across your bum in a super fun font and a continuation of the print on the front. I love these. You maybe asking would I wear them… well I need to put my money where my mouth is and say yes I would.
These are super fun in the true aussieBum tag line “Live without doubt!” These both retail for $34.87 at the aussieBum site
More underwear/swimwear brands need to do runway shows. There are only a handful of them right now. I talked to Ca-Rio-Ca after the show and they told me they were a last minute fill in for LA Fashion Week. They basically had 48 hours to put together a runway show. It take brands weeks to get everything in order but Ca-Rio-Ca took the bull by the horns and embraced this as a challenge. It was a challenge they rocked!
I suggest you watch the video. The show looked like they had been working on it for weeks. It was very well done and a lot of fun. Gil, the owner, told me they did a casting at Wilhelmina Models Los Angeles. Casting is complete and they move to the show. It opened with Carnival dancers. Then the they showcased the amazing swim they have for this year.
There are two highlights that stand out with the models. The first is the model who did the back flips down the runway and then a little break dancing. The second was the two models walking the young boy down the catwalk. We posted that picture on the blog a few weeks ago.
I hope we get to see them in another show soon! Watch the video it’s a little over 7 minutes and a lot of fun! The Ca-Rio-Ca store is open in LA, so if you’re in the area stop by!

Colby you have been around the world of men’s underwear/swim wear for a while. You have done videos for a few companies and more recently cheapundies.com. What made you team up with your boyfriend, Rocco Ybarra, and start a line? Who’s idea was it and how did the conversation happen?
I have been trying to get a line started for almost a year now. Rocco also had interest in starting a line. We decided to team up and utilize each others strengths and make our dream a reality. We both have similar bold styles and love of prints so it was an easy process.
Your have done something really different from other brands and are using fun prints. I am loving the Hammerhead print, what made you guys go with prints? Why did you choose such fun and whimsical prints?
I think menswear has been kept in a very bland place for a long time. I think with the LGBT movement and the emergence of metrosexuals, men are finally ready to wear clothes with personality. At least that’s what we want, and we couldn’t find it in the market so we decided to do it ourselves.
Do you guys have a favorite print out of the collection? While you are out have you spotted anyone in pubic at the beach/pool in you swearing SOAR yet?
My favorite is either the hammerheads or the cherries. Roccos favorite is the hammerheads. When we were in Miami we had a couple people come up to us on the beach wanting to know where we got them and asked to purchase some on the spot. Luckily we had some with us!
What has been the biggest challenge you guys have faced and over come producing the initial collection?
The biggest challenge has been putting together all the bits and pieces it takes to launch a collection. There are over a hundred steps to just get the initial run up. You really have to be dedicated and realize that the process takes 6 months or longer before you start seeing any sort of return on your work.
The collection is super fun what feed back are you getting from the industry and from potential customers?
Everyone has loved it so far! The only request we have gotten is for more!
In our previous post you said you have shorts and shirts coming and a Onesie. So can you give us a hint at what the onesie will be like?
I can say that the onesie is technically underwear, but meant to be worn as street wear. You’ll be able to wear it to the grocery store, the club, or Sunday Funday!
Thanks for you time guys. Just in case our readers don’t know where to find your brand SOAR, where can they find you guys online.
Everything is available at www.soarclothing.com
We are sure you have seen Colby Melvin on our site many times. He has been a model for several underwear brands. The latest brand he has work with is Cheapundies.com. Colby is a model always has a big smile on his face and really looks like he enjoys what he does. But he has a new job and that’s is Swimwear company owner!
Colby and his boyfriend and SOAR CEO, Rocco Ybarra, formed SOAR Clothing. Soar stands for “Stand Out Above the Rest.” And their swim suits certain stand out! I asked Colby why they started the brand with the amazing prints and he said “We both have a love of fashion and like to wear very bold pieces.” The first pair I noticed was the Cherries, then the Ice Cream and finally the Hammer Head. They use really amazing prints for all their suits. If you are after solids, SOAR is not for you.
I asked him where they get the prints from because I haven’t seen many of them before. Colby said “We have a variety of sources that we use for prints, but we find inspiration from our friends and the very adventurous life we live. We want anyone to feel like they can also live a very fulfilling and vibrant life.” This definitely shows in the prints.
CA-RIO-CA rocked LA Fashion Week. They took the stage and had a very successful show! They came in with just 48 hours notice in an open spot and were one of the most talked about shows in LA Fashion Week. Their new collection will be out soon so stay tuned for more amazing pairs!
Did you know that Nasty Pig does some amazing swimwear? I knew that they have done it in the past but this is one of my favorite pairs. I LOVE the look of this and the colors. If you are a fan head over to Jockstrap Central and pick up your favorite pair

Many of you out there maybe familiar with Colt’s other line of work. They are the producers of “art” films. In the last few years they have entered into the underwear and apparel business as well. The underwear was redesigned and released a new collection last year. It’s looking super hot!
It may seem odd we are profiling this pair but the look of the pair is very classic in a swim brief. The pair is called the Kelso. It is named after one of their iconic stars Steve Kelso. Colt calls this an iconic swim brief and I would agree. You would expect something super skimpy from the studio to show off everything. They went for a classic cut and while not a classic brief in my definition it’s pretty close. My definition of a classic swim brief is three inch sides and a full back. From the looks of the picture it looks like a 2.5 inch side, close enough for me.
The pairs are available in a red and navy. On the front it has a Colt head on the left hip and the back it has COLT written in white letters. So if you plan to wear this, be prepared for people to know what it symbolizes. Which for a few of our readers they won’t mind at all and will enjoy some added attention. Made out of an 80% nylon/20% spandex fabric.
I will admit I would love one of these. It reminds me of the swim briefs of my younger days. My days of skimpy swim briefs are over but the fuller cut ones are still available to me!
Maybe the swim brief is a bit much for you. They also make the Kuzak square cut. Named after their model Pete Kuzak. The classic square cut has the same colors and embellishments. Meaning the Colt head is on the left hip and Colt written around on the back. This pair is also for the guy who needs more coverage than a swim brief offers.
The Kuzak is made out of the same 80% Spandex/20% Nylon fabric. Also in red and navy! If you’re bold enough to wear the collection go out and buy some!
We are on a kick this year about swim briefs. But not every guy feels comfy enough to wear them to their pool. The prime example of that is our Jon went on a family cruise and wanted to wear a swim brief. He knew it would never get past the parents or friends going. They would give him a hard time or go “go change now.” If you are in a situation like this sometimes a great trunk is what you are after.
2(X)ist has some some really amazing fabrics in swim. Overtime I get to sit down with Jason Scarlatti from 2(X)ist and go over whats new. He points out a lot of the amazing prints they come up with and most of them are a play on stripes. The new Sunglasses print is just fun. From a distance it looks like a blue or red print. The close you get to it the more you notice it’s made up tiny sunglasses.
This pair could definitely be conversation stater on the beach. The Ibiza short is the shorter trunk that is in fashion now. Out are the longer board shorts. Most brands are doing this length. Made out of a 100% polyester fabric means it’s fast drying and will be comfy all day. It is available in Red and Blue
Over the last few years 2(X)ist has expanded their swimwear line. Each year the bring out amazing new pairs in fun and festive patterns. Prints are always big in swimwear, more so than underwear. It’s interesting that a guy will wear a pair like the Sunglasses trunk but be very classic in his underwear. My other favorites in the line are the Tropical Floral print and the Tye Die Floral. We may just profile them soon!
If you’re looking for cheap swimwear, this pair isn’t for you. This pair retails for $75. However, for the price and being from 2(X)ist it will hold up and last. Where can you find this pair? Unless you live in a big city you won’t find these in too many stores. The only place I have seen 2(X)ist swim was in the Macy’s at Beverly Center in LA . That being said you will more than likely have to order them from the 2(X)ist site.
New Swimwear is out from ES Collection called Itzé. If you are fan make sure you go to the ES Collection page and check out the entire collection.
The new 2(X)ist swimwear is out. We are writing up the line and will bring you more about it this week but I had to show you guys this amazing video they did! More on them this week

aussieBums ultimate combination in style, functionality and quality calls itself “Neoprene” made from the same fabric as sporting wet-suits and featuring a brand new silicon logo on the side. Designed to mould, stretch and crease this range completely forms to your body with time while maintain a sexy, traditional hipster shape.
I think this is the start of a neoprene trend in men’s swimwear. Which is going to be awesome. I love when brands use non traditional fabrics in swimwear.
Lets face it Animal print swimwear is hot! Its sexy and fun and something that always catches peoples attention. If you see a guy walking down the beach and see a leopard print you are going to sit up and take notice. How many of us are brave enough to let the wild side out? I’m willing to bet more than a few of you. So, if you wear animal print you will command attention at the beach or pool and I think most of you prefer it.
aussieBum released the new Animal Instinct. Which is a set of briefs and turns in three different animal print. Those prints are Chetah, Giraffe and Tiger. Each one designed for aussieBum. The Hipster/trunk they have listed is a tiger print. Here is what aussieBum says:
“Animal Instinct” will bring out your wild and fiery side this season with three in-house custom designed animal prints making it a truly aussieBum unique swimwear range. Available in Tiger, Giraffe and Cheetah in our sexy brief swimwear style. Get wild!”
I think these are super hot! I love the cut and the prints. Would I wear one on the beach I just may! Why not, I mean if you wear a swim brief wear something to get noticed and not blend in! I think that aussieBum has out done it self with this line. They have been a brand of super fun gear and this just takes it to the next level!
The pairs are made out of 90% Polyamide, 10% Elastane. The instructions say hand wash rather than machine wash. Each swim brief is available for $34.33 from the aussieBum site.
If you’re going to look for something fun then I think you should look no farther than this range. I think its’ some of the best swimwear I have seen this season. I know that there are tons more pairs coming this summer! Stay tuned for more great swimwear from aussieBum!
I have always hated board shorts, but being a straight guy living in the US, that is all you see. You may say…that is all that is socially acceptable. Being a guy who is not necessarily in the best shape of his life, I have always been on the board short train, but I hated the mesh liners and/or hanging free so my secret was I always wore a speedo style suit underneath.
When on the beach though I would pull the boards down a bit and the legs up to get a better tan, but never got up the courage to go in just a speedo. I always wondered…Am I in good enough shape? Will people laugh? Will people make comments? I just had no idea how it would be perceived. One thing I did know was that swimming in board shorts was awful! Trying to tread water with the weight of shorts was not fun!
Then in July 2013 I proposed to my girlfriend. We set a date for October 2014. Now I knew I had to lose weight for the wedding. In planning everything we decided to go to the Maldives on our Honeymoon. With the loss of weight I decided I would at least get some smaller swimwear for this trip.
I decided there is no way I am going there and wearing board shorts, so I bought some short and thin Diesel swim shorts, but when we got there I noticed that the Europeans there were in some boards, some shorter swim trunks and some swim briefs. So I thought….here is my chance!
I said something to my wife about going out in just swim briefs and she turned to me and said, “Go for it. Who cares.” I was still very apprehensive. Yea I lost some weight, but not enough to look like the guy a few villas down. I kept thinking, no I can’t people will stare…people will laugh.
After a day of watching the other people on the island, I decided to just do it and see what reactions I got. I went to my beach lounger with the Diesel shorts over a pair of Geronimo swim briefs. I sat on the chair, laid back and then slowly removed my shorts. I looked around and not many people were there yet so I though ok, so far so good. Then our neighbors on either side, both also young couples came out to their loungers and I started getting paranoid. I watched them without them knowing and I know they saw me, but no weird faces, no whispers, nothing. So far so good. More people walked by and again no strange looks. It seemed as if no one cared!
Then I decided I needed to get up to get a drink. I thought, should I put my shorts back on? Should I just walk to the villa in my swim briefs? If I wasn’t already sweating from the heat I would have started sweating at that moment. I decided to say screw it and I got up and walked just in the swim brief. Again, no dirty looks from the neighbors.
So after all of the apprehension, fear, and worrying I realized no one cares! So I decided to go all 10 days in speedo style suits! I wore N2N, WildmanT, Aussiebum, and Speedo brands. It was great! So much better than board shorts and much better tan lines! The only time I put on the Diesel shorts was to snorkel just for some extra protection from the sun.
Oh yea….the wife enjoyed it too!
What a great time! Will I now be brave enough to do this in the summer here in the US? The jury is still out, but I have plenty of time to figure that out since it is March and still 20 degrees and snowing here right now!
NOTE: The writer is a guy named Steve who lives in the North Eastern US. We have talked for a while and he agreed to share his experience being a straight guy wearing a swim brief
The photographer of the year, as you guys voted, on UNB is Adrian C. Martin! He is an amazing photographer. This time he’s back with a small set featuring BWet Swimwear.

How much are we looking foward to summer? I will say I’m ready for this winter blah to be over with. Here in Atlanta we go from 70 degrees to 30 degrees and its been a roller coaster of temps. March is here and spring is around the corner and so is warmer weather. Or so they tell me.
While in Vegas I got a chance to meet up with Teamm8! They have some great stuff coming in the next few months. I can’t wait to share them with you guys but in the mean time you can check out the Cabana swim range. The reason I love this range so much is the geometric print they designed. Its just a lot of fun for swimwear. My personal favorite is the pink pair! I mean isn’t the point of wearing a pair of swim briefs is to be seen? Why not get some great color to be seen. I bet you will get a ton of complaints as well!
The collection has briefs, trunk and swim short but we are just focusing on the brief. The two colors of the brief is the pink I mentioned above and blue. Each is amazing. The blue is a little more subdued but still a great design. On top of that the pair has a cool waistband with a drawstring that ties in the fun and shows on each size. Made from 80% Nylon and 20% Elastane so it will hold up to the surf, sun and pool!
If you aren’t a swim brief fan like I said check out the swim trunk and short in the same pattern. Also the swim short could make a great cover up for the brief. Wear it to the beach or pool and take it off to relax in the brief in the sun! The brief retails for $69 AUD at the Teamm8 website.
Ilde is a swimwear company I discovered on Tumblr. There are a few underwear/swimwar Tumblrs that i love checking out. One of my favorite’s had a few pictures of Ilde. I had to find them and looked them up. They have some amazing prints as well as solids. It’s a very cool line and I am reaching out to them to get more information on them! Enjoy the pic for the time being. Find them at the Ilde Swimwear page
