We have had our swim brief challenge for a few years. It’s been a lot of fun to do, get guys to step out of their comfort zone and wear what you want to wear. Many of you have taken this challenge, however, there are a whole group of guys skipping the brief and moving to the swim thong. This is a big jump from swim shorts to being suns out, buns out!

I have worn both of these styles. In my 20’s I regularly rocked the swim brief. To me, it was summer attire that you had to have a few briefs ready at all times. You never know when you are going to have access to a pool or be invited to a last minute pool party in the summer. There were a few times on the beach when I was the only guy in swim briefs. I paid no attention to others, it was a natural thing to wear to me. Shorts in water drove me crazy and were bulky. I thought I looked good in them so why not rock it.

There were only a few times I wore a swim thong. Most of the times it was at a private pool with a few others there. I was never comfortable in them in public. I say this because I never had the junk in the trunk. Not like a lot of guys you see on Twitter. But enough about me. In the last two years, we have more guys wanting to skip the briefs and wear thongs on the beach.

The most interesting part is this movement has been fueled by straight guys. Our own UNB Ryan, Shawn, and JayinCA are leading this revolution in men’s swimwear. They are wearing them in public and with no shame. Ryan wore them to the pool at the Flamingo. While doing it he had very little negativity. Shawn, as we posted earlier this week, wears them to the beach and makes it a perfectly normal thing. Jay, has started posting his adventures on Instagram to show more guys they should rock a thong.

To me, I would have never thought of skipping the brief and going straight to the thong. Many of you are having this internal conversation. You want to wear what you want, where you want, when you want to wear it! We will have Ryan and Shawn write more about the do’s and don’ts of wearing thongs in public. Hello UNB world! I am so excited to for the honor to put my journalism degree to work here (Finally) at UNB! As your newest, trusted writer here at UNB, you can count on me to KEEP IT REAL. And I mean that I won’t steer you wrong and I will make sure I give not only honest reviews of underwear and swimwear but attempt to bridge the “SO WHAT GAP?” in my writing. But before we get into the ramifications and my world changing soap-box-speech… a little about me so you can frame WHO is exactly reviewing and sharing their, well fine literary and physical assets with you at UNB.

I am a late 20’s, single, straight male who isn’t afraid to challenge the status quo (you may have gathered that by this point.) I thoroughly enjoy socializing in the sunshine near the water, exercise, and taking care of my body to the fullest. My underwear story started in High School. Back then in the beginnings of manhood, underwear became a focus for me. I wore boxers as a kid and moved to boxer briefs as I got older, but I don’t know what compelled me or how what exactly happened, but I became thoroughly interested in Men’s Thongs. I like the way girl’s butts looked in them so naturally…I was curious. And well I got several. I tried them on, they not only felt comfortable and functional but I felt sexy. So, this is what growing up is about, right?

Unfortunately, my fears of ridicule kept me from pursuing my thong preference. I was an athlete and I didn’t want to be caught in…gasp*…a thong in front of my teammates. The thought was too stressful for me to deal with and a few short months into my thong days, they were over… Fast forward nearly 8 years later and I had a near death experience far from home and safety. In my life, I am into high adrenaline activities and unfortunately this time it had just been too close…I mean TOO close. That moment marked a change in how and who I live my life for.

Since then, I quickly determined what matters in my life; What people think about my underwear or clothing choices quickly did not matter. Thongs were back in my life. It’s been over a year now and I have never looked back. My nearly 50 pairs of underwear are composed of 90% thongs today and 10% boxer briefs. Frankly, this underwear renaissance for me has been incredible, and surprisingly more accepting from friends and girlfriends over this past year.

A few close friends know and they could care less. The girls in my life who have been well, intimate enough to see my secret have ranged from not really caring to really into my thong wearing self! As a straight male, we often seek our companion’s approval, so far it’s been thumbs up for the girls who know about it!

It hasn’t been all rainbows and sunshine on this journey. I have received snickers and ridicule for the thongs I wear at the gym, or even swim thongs on the beach. I am here to tell you it is completely worth it. You can’t put a price living your life day in and day out for yourself. Your underwear is a part of that. Consider me as an underwear advisor and life coach. The “SO WHAT GAP?” very much is about WHY you choose to wear your underwear/swimwear. Hopefully, it isn’t for anyone else other than yourself. SO, the “SO WHAT GAP” is bridging the concepts that this blog and these fantastic, creative, functional, and sexy underwear producers are REDEFINING what it means to be a MAN. Remember that. When you put on your underwear, you are not only supporting your goods but YOUR PSYCHE.

I have found that being true to myself and being in touch with who I am is contagious. Everyone wants a piece of you. Whether it’s in dating or friendships or family, you are making the world a happier better place, and people are naturally drawn to you. Help me and let’s keep these good vibes rollin’. Let’s grow this male underwear revolution and I thank you for taking to courage to join me and the rest of the community here at UNB!

We asked you guys a few weeks ago about supporting thong content. I know it’s super popular right now and an ambitious goal is to do a thong review a week. After we reach the thong goal I have to do briefs/bikinis and video projects! A lot of you guys said you wouldn’t support but quite a few said you would. Here are the goals we have come up with.

• Thong reviews 1 – $75 – Cover the UNB costs for the month and get one thong review!  This would be any week in the month. We would have a variety of thongs
• Thong reviews 2 – $125 – Get two thong reviews a month. The first and third week of the month!
• Thong reviews 3 – $150 – Get three thong reviews a month. The first and third plus scheduled the open weeks
• Thong reviews 4 – $200 – Get a thong review every week of a month
• Thong reviews plus swim – $300 – Get one review a month as a swim thong and bronze and above patrons get to pick and vote on one of our reviews
• Thong review, swim and video review – $375 – On top of all the others we will have one thong review a quarter (4x a year) where patrons will get to ask questions and have them answered in the review.

Do you change your undies due to the seasons? Cold weather? What do you guys do? We had a few of you take our poll and this is what you guys said.

It was a tie, 40% said they do change their underwear depending on the weather. While 40% said they don’t. I was expecting more guys to say nope, I wear what I want year round. It shows you guys take your underwear seriously.

It’s no great surprise that most of you guys wear briefs in the winter. The boxer brief number at 36% I thought would be smaller. Boxer Briefs and Trunks are popular with you guys in the winter. I occasionally wear them in the winter when it’s very cold. I”m wondering where our thong fans were for this poll.

It appears that the what you wear during winter doesn’t go against what you normally wear. You wear what you like year round. 31% say you do change. Glad I asked what you normally wear in the summer.

You guys prefer the skimpier styles in the summer. Very few enjoy the boxer brief. So yes you guys do change for winter, just not all of you.  Briefs and thongs are your favorites. We hope you had fun with the poll and results.
