WildmanT's NewWe just reviewed the Big Boy Brief from WildmanT and now we got a chance to talk to him about the line

Can you tell us how you came to create the Big Boy Line?

I have a few friends who brag about their endowment and how regular underwear don’t fit (poor things) and they have been yapping in my ear for the past couple years….”When are you gonna make something that fits us big boys?” Plus, I have another friend who has big….balls…and he always complained that underwear was too tight for his balls and it was uncomfortable when he sat down or worked out. Plus, they always got sweaty against his legs. So I took the two ideas and made a strapless pouch first. It was a waist band with a big pouch in front and nothing else. It was roomy, supportive and held the “boys” up and comfortable for my big balled friend. So I put it on Amazon to test it out and it sold like crazy. Then I decided there was a market for generously endowed and I made an entire line around “The Big Boy Pouch”!

What styles did you offer in the initial release and why did you choose those styles?

Hmmmm….years ago I had a small website that sold underwear. Not my brand, other underwear brands. WildmanT wasn’t really formed until the accidental and joke product The Ball Lifter was created. I was photographing a model in their underwear for the site but the bulge was not pronounced enough. Stuffing his underwear looked too fake and a cockring didn’t lift his pouch enough. His balls hung low dragging down the whole package with it. So I jokingly said, “If you could just lift your balls and hold it there, the photo would look great!” Well the joke turned into me utilizing some elastic and pinning it to his waist band. It worked great and looked amazing in the photo. The model said he wanted one for everyday. I laughed and continued with the shoot. After the shoot, I sat down to make a prototype…again as a joke. I thought it would funny if I put it online and showed the model. Plus my mother (sweet old conservative lady) worked for me and I thought it would embarrass her too! Well the joke was on me. Somehow it went viral and two companies in Japan bought a crazy amount of them and the ball enhancing craze had begun. From that point, I started creating Ball Lifters, Protruders, Max Cock-Rings and eventually underwear and swimwear with built-in Ball Lifter built in. I became the Ball Lifter company.

You mentioned to me earlier in the week “It was nice to finally make something exactly the way I wanted it made without compromise” What did you mean by that?

When I started off, I didn’t know what I was really doing and I had no industrial machines. Most of my designs were designed around my limitations. Then when I got big enough to use manufacturers, each manufacture had their own limitations and the designs always got changed just a little bit. Sometimes the factory had to change the colors or fabric type and sometimes they just couldn’t get the patterns right. I always liked the final product (or I would never have approved them) but I never got “exactly” what I was shooting for. This year, we started our own manufacturing here in Florida. And for the first time, I get to make exactly what I want. I have all the right machines, I buy the fabrics and elastics myself and I teach my employees exactly how to sew them. It seems silly but after seven years my final product is exactly like the prototype! Go USA!

The pouch, I will admit is pretty darn amazing, how did you come up with the design? I will admit when I saw it I was a little skeptical but after wearing it, WOW!

I just tried over and over to create a pocket of fabric that would go over your junk but not slip off. Once I got something that was roomy and comfortable yet you didn’t slip out of, I designed everything else around it.

Did you design this line for a specific guy or all guys?

Two people and they would kill me if I gave their names. John Jackson and Tad Ground! (Tim laughs!!!!)

Headshot3It has been on sale for a few weeks, what has been the feedback you are getting on the line?

I released it on Black Friday. It was a difficult time to release a new product. People are shopping for others, not themselves. Underwear is a difficult present to buy for someone else. And stores previously stocked up on merchandise to prepare for the holiday season so I was not too hopeful. I thought I would get some Black Friday traction just because of the sale aspect. Although I was correct about stores not buying right at Christmas time, I was floored with my sales with the direct customer. We sold more than we ever sold in a week’s time and all of the sales were for the new Big Boy Pouch line. I was amazed…..and freaked out because we ran low on stock

Currently it’s just available in black, are you going to expand the line into other colors?

I really liked releasing all black at one time. It had a more powerful visual impact. I thought of releasing the exact line in a new color every few months….but it turns out, the fabric that I love love love only comes in black and whiteL We may do the white but most likely we will do a whole new fabric all together when I find something else that I love love love againJ

For someone who’s never bought WildmanT underwear what advice do you give them before buying the Big Boy line?

One leg at a time??? Not meant as a floatation device?? Seriously…it’s pretty straight forward. If you are looking for a roomy pouch, you will love this line. It’s big, it’s roomy and it supports unlike other pouches. People buy one to try it and turn around the following week and order five or six pair. And to quote one savy customer “I’m telling you I LOVE LOVE LOVE this pair. OMG I don’t know how you did it but damn”

That quote is from yours truly! That is from the email I sent after I wore the pair. Its amazing!

Choosing a favorite pair of underwear is probably as hard as choosing my favorite Kylie Minogue song – there are way too many to choose from, and I’d probably be more successful at choosing the next Presidential candidate with a came of Duck, Duck, Goose. Alas, I must choose, so here we go.

For those of you who don’t know me yet, I am Josh, or UNB Josh as you might come to know me on Underwear News Calvin Klein tech thongBriefs. I’ve always had a love of underwear – at least as far back as I can remember, so it only seemed necessary to search out a place to share my love and actually put good use to my knowledge of it. That’s how I found the blog, reached out to it, and am now writing for it. If only everything in life could be so simple. I’ve been collecting underwear since I could drive and buy things for myself and currently have two dresser drawers full of underwear and am about to spill over to the third. My drawers are full of briefs, jockstraps, trunks, singlets, swimwear and thongs. All have their place in my wardrobe, but if I really had to choose one style I could only wear for the rest of my life, I’d go with a thong.

So that brings us back to my favorite pair of underwear. I know it’s going to be a thong, but which one? I used to consider one thong (a Calvin Klein tech thong) my lucky pair because anytime I wore it, it seemed like good things would happen. I used to wear it to job interviews, on dates and on test days in college, and it seemed like every time I had it on, I would get the job, get the date to second base (at least) or ace the test. However, just because it’s lucky doesn’t mean it’s my favorite, and sadly, it’s no longer available, so I couldn’t even tell you where to buy it.

So, we’re back to square one – or two, since we know a thong is going to be my favorite pair. I went to my underwear drawer and pulled everything out to get a better look, eliminate and decide. I came down to two for my favorite pair. The first is for everyday wear: the C-IN2 Core Y-Back thong. I’ve always really liked C-IN2’s underwear design. They make comfortable underwear perfect for any occasion, they have many great styles and prints, and they understand a man’s body and what parts should be accentuated. I’ve always been a fan of Y-back thongs because they offer something a little different style wise from a normal thong to make my underwear drawer more unique. I’ve tried different brands of Y-back thongs, but for sheer comfort and everyday wear, you can’t do much better than the C-IN2 Core Y-back thong. I bought my first one in white at an underwear store in Dallas and have since bought many more from C-IN2’s brand website.  I love these thongs because they are 100% cotton and can easily go from work to the gym and anywhere else you need to go. They are available in white, grey and black, so they will compliment anything you need to wear, and they run true to size. I’m a medium generally, and wear medium in the Y-Back Core Thong. They fit perfectly. Plus, if you aren’t ready to commit to thongs full time, these are a great pair to get you started with thongs to see if you like them.

BLOW Jock Thong

I told you I wasn’t able to completely limit myself to one pair, so my other favorite pair is the Blow Jock Thong with from Andrew Christian. As an underwear connoisseur, I have more pairs of Andrew Christian underwear than I care to admit (with more on the way), and I love many styles the brand offers, but after years of wearing Andrew Christian underwear, my favorite style has become the Jock Thong. It offers everything you want from a jockstrap and everything you want from a thong into one incredible pair of underwear. I have several in my drawer and wear them frequently. Out of all I’ve bought, my favorite is the BLOW! Jock Thong with Show-It Tech.

I really love everything about this pair of underwear. The pouch is made out of super soft cotton and has a lifting pouch to bring everything to the front. It’s not a really invasive lifting pouch, either, so it doesn’t become uncomfortable after a few hours of wear. The colors of blue and green are complimentary to each other and are colors you don’t often see in underwear – especially at the brightness brought with these. The band is silver and has a little sparkle to it, you know, just for that extra boost, and the jock straps in the back provide a great lift, too. The thong part itself is very comfortable, just as the pouch, and does not become uncomfortable in the least as the day goes on. In fact, I wore this pair while walking around Stockholm, Sweden for an entire day, and it was comfortable from morning to night.

There are many variations in the BLOW! line from Andrew Christian, which are available on the brand website. You really can’t go wrong with anything you choose, as I love pretty much everything from the BLOW! suite of options. But if you are looking for something new and different, go with the Jock Thong. There aren’t a lot of companies making Jock Thongs right now, so try something new and add to your wardrobe.

ATT89256I love bringing you guys new companies. One I ran across on Facebook is Fly Boy Apparel. They are just launching a kickstarter and are making some really cool undies. I got a chance to talk to the guys behind the site and get more info for you guys!

Tell us about Fly Boy Apparel, What made you create it?

My now business partner, Joshua Carlson, and I were discussing men’s clothing and as to why I had not taken off into the idea I had held for a few years now. I explained to him that the cost of wholesale and screen printing was simply too much with the funds I had available at the time. It was simply not a sustainable business in my eyes. We then moved the conversation onto men’s underwear and were discussing our favorite brands but that each had one issue or another, be it the fit, longevity, styling or price. He jested, we should create our own underwear line with the best parts of our favorite brands, and sat and thought for a few moments and said ‘Yea, uh……..actually, why don’t we??’.

We then set out from that initial conversation to slowly turn our idea into reality. Over the next six months, we started with basic photo shopping and sourcing. The logos and design started out drastically different as we realized some things, such as specific waist band stitching, were not feasible. We then turned it into having samples produced and shipped to us to which we thoroughly analyzed every inch and measurement to start tapering the design to provide the best fit possible. After a few weeks of tinkering we were able to place the first small order.

What makes Fly Boy Apparel different from other brands on the market?

Our premise for starting this line was to provide high design, premium quality underwear at a non-premium price. We wanted to use this opportunity as a chance to create our own style, incorporating the best features of our favorite brands, and leaving out the bad or fixing issues we saw in them.

We have been basically grass roots since we started. We have been beating the pavement, showing friends, acquaintances and anyone who was interested our product. We fully believe in our product and that we needed to just get it in front of people for them to as well. I have actually even hand delivered multiple order, jokingly calling or texting the customer that their “flyboy order has landed”.

We really take pride in what we have managed to do. And for Joshua and I, this is our baby, we want to nurture it and see it grow into something great.

12460035_10100617230583907_1142496384_n (1)

I saw your styles you are going to offer, they look great, what made you pick these styles?

Josh and I took a real hard look at this. We wanted something that would last and not become worn quickly with washes. We immediately ruled out cotton at that point. We wanted something that was going to convey an image, a brand, a lifestyle. We feel that what we produced fully conveys a FLYBOY mentality of stylish, athletic, and on the go. The material is highly durable, breathable, smooth, and comfortable. We were actually pretty amazed when we got the final samples in at the quality and fit we were able to produce. Neither of us had really any experience in the garment industry prior but we fully stand behind and believe in these athletic style trunks and jocks.

Sizes listed are small to large. Are you planning to make XL and XXL listed on your Size chart?

As of right now, with our small inventory, we only have the sizes small to large. However, as of the first 48 hours on kickstarter, we are over 50% funded and hopeful we can exceed the goal to provide many options. With the next order, with kickstarter’s help, XL will absolutely be available in many of the options. We started with a small investment and unfortunately, we had to do what we could manage with the first order. With funding of kickstarter, we will have at least two XL options available and if we exceed it there will be more XL colors.

You mentioned in your video you wanted to create a sexy line but ended up with an Athletic line, what made you pivot and change?

We still went with the men’s sexy underwear line actually. Through sure fluke, we didn’t realize until we got them and wore them to the gym ourselves, we realized they were great active wear. We originally did the mesh just to appeal to an “athletic, sexy style” but once we had tested it, it was like “wow, these didn’t stretch all out from all the exercises, they’re not damp, and I don’t feel dirty after my workout”. We looked at it like a huge plus that we ended up dual purpose.

20160103-22333

Starting a company is stressful what are some things you have learned?

I’ve learned a lot! Quickly! There are methods you will try that will fail. Ebay was really tough for us. We simply could not compete with the saturation of the overseas market on there. We didn’t let that get us down though, we started investing more time into our website, and are currently still working on improving, as well as our social media. We have been working hard to establish ourselves; we truly want to be more than just another underwear brand, we are aiming for lifestyle brand. Keeping a positive attitude about it all helps, you can’t let the day to day stress you.

I also learned that business never ends; there is always more to do, more to talk about, and more planning. It comes up in conversations a lot organically; it seems to be new and exciting for them. So I have to flip the switch and go right back into FLYBOY mode.

One of the best things I have learned though, is the power of building relationships. We were fortunate enough to partner with two great businesses that are fully supportive and parenting with us. It is still a bit of blur as to how it all happened so fast, but it grew fairly organically. TIPSY Phoenix has offered many avenues of promotional events that we can team up on. Their CEO, Eli Chmouni, has been great! He is planning with us events that FLYBOY can cater to and he legitimately want to help young entrepreneurs. He has been working with us on our business needs as well, such as trademarking. Tan United/TUC Shops helped us to find a home for FLYBOY to grow in. The owners, Keith Klemoy-Gurley and Randy Eddlemon, offered up some of their store space for our products to be in. It felt like a huge achievement to be in a store. They have been a huge factor in our development, and give us some outside guidance when needed. They really believed in our product and genuinely care to see us grow.

You started a Kickstarter for the brand, what made you do crowdfunding?

Honestly, it was something we were unsure of if we could succeed. The idea scared us to put our product out there for others to basically judge. I had backed a few my own in the past so I was semi familiar with it. I spent a few weeks contemplating over every aspect of our kickstarter. We thought we had nothing to lose by trying to convey our idea out there for people to see. I just keep the positive mindset that it will fund and overachieve so we have a lot of available options for backers.

The video was the scariest part for me. We didn’t have the sources to film something professional. So I just decided to keep it as real as possible. It took me probably 300 takes to get something I was ok with. It’s still not perfect, but kickstarters to me aren’t meant to be super professional. It’s about funding an idea and if you can convey properly, not perfectly, people will see the value.

MEBR_Side__36426.1448286736.1280.1280There is a new pouch on the block and it’s made by WildmanT. It’s called the Big Boy Pouch! The name is quite appropriate for the collection. I received the Big Boy Pouch Brief to review. It was on the top of my list this year to get and try. I am a huge lover of great pouches. When WIldmanT agreed to send me one I was super psyched!

The pair is made out of a sports mesh type material. Right now it’s only available in black. This makes it slightly see through but not over the top. When I went to put on the pair is like my brain slammed on the brakes. The pouch sort of looked like one of those where you stick your junk through it and it enhances. So my excitement went to “oh man.” But being the trooper I put them on. And WOW. The elastic around the pouch wasn’t there to super enhance your pouch. It was made to give some great support.

The pouch just felt amazing. It holds everything in one place and while yeah it probably has some enhancing qualities its made for comfort. I don’t know how Tim at WildmanT made this but WOW. My initial impression in no way lived up to the reality. He designed a truly unique and new pouch. Which is quickly moving up my favorite pouches in underwear. I am in love with this pair.

I wore this pair on an active day. It held up so great. The fabric moved with me through out the day. And the pouch gave great support and enough enhancing without making it seem over the top. One thing about the fabric, I wore it on a cold day and there were a few times when the wind picked up and I was like “Hello.” You could feel the breeze. I would suggest to wear it on a warmer day or wear it and be damned!

WildmanT has some great sizing. I received an XL and it fit amazing. The waistband wasn’t too tight and the fabric and cut fit great. I don’t think I have ever had an issue with the underwear from them. As always double check the size guide to get the correct size.

Pros:

  • The super amazing pouch design
  • Great fabrics that fit well through out the day
  • Mesh is slightly see through and fun

Cons:

  • May not wear on a cold day! You could get a breeze
  • Some may not like the mesh fabric
  • Only available in black, I want it in more colors!

Ratings:

  • Daily Fit – 10
  • Sizing – 10
  • Construction/Materials – 10
  • Styling – 10
  • Daily Performance -10
  • Overall – 10

This pair gets a rare 10 out of 10 from me because there is so much to love about this pair. The fit, style and daily wear were off the charts. Find the WildmanT Mesh Big Boy Pouch Brief at the WildmanT site for $25

MY FAVORITE PAIR

“From the cradle to the coffin underwear comes first.”, a quote from Bertolt Brecht. It was instilled in me at a very young age. My dad was in the apparel industry and always stressed the importance of details when it came to fashion. Underwear was no exception. My love for undies grew from walking around the apparel expos my dad attended. Many early men’s underwear companies were present with models to boot.

I aspired to be that masculine and confident and great underwear was just an extension of this. As I grew older and played sports I fell in love with the practicality of great underwear. I’ve pretty much been an addict ever since. Not only do awesome undies serve a function but it can spice up everyday activities. I won’t even get into the health benefits!

As a straight guy, I want to crush this stigma that underwear means anything other than what YOU want it to mean. Everyone deserves great undies! For me, there is also nothing sexier than when a girl steals and wears your undies. (wink) Better make ‘em fancy!

I recently received, from my underwear subscription service.  A small simple box with the word Wood printed on it. A small square gave a preview of the canary yellow undies inside. This small trendy box would be at home on the shelves in the apple store. I love it! The product inside was even better. A simple yellow boxer brief with a white waistband, Wood stitched in a subtle gold on the band off to the right.

Marketed towards a more seemingly straight outdoors-y market  (Hence, the name Wood).   Simple is the name of the game. They use a super soft Lenzig-modal made from beech  tree cellulose (again, Wood). The fabric actually has some moisture wicking properties. These things even breathe and stand up great for me at the gym!

For me, they sit just below the waist and don’t ride, or show crack, which is one of my biggest peeves. The subtle, elastic around the legs keeps them put as well with no bunching up throughout the day. With my peculiar 35” waist, the L isn’t too loose, and fits and shapes my figure nicely. They also add a bit of lift and form to the butt, which I need and enjoy! The closed front holds “the boys” nicely, and looks fantastic. After many a wash they still feel great, almost like the day I got ‘em, no fabric pilling or any misshapenness. The classic boxer-brief style visually elongates the body and has a slimming effect. Plus, the solid yellow looks great against my pale Irish legs!

These guys have really cracked the code at $20 a pop. They even offer a 3-pack option. I wish they had a color assorted 3 pack I’d total bite. I could easily see someone clearing out their whole drawer to make room for just Wood. Can’t wait to try the hip-brief! Get these boxer briefs for $?? at the Wood Underwear site. Cheers, to this great company!

NOTE: Brady is a new guy who just joined UNB. He’s going to be writing and giving his take on undies

20151231_195743

Hi howdy hey readers. Happy 2016! I’m excited to be returning to UNB Blog for my second year.  I hope to be introducing you all too new brands, undies, and possibilities this year. I hope that the New Year has started out well for all of you as well. Mine did and I’ll tell you why!

In multiple places around the world it is good luck, especially for your love life, to ring in the New Year wearing red underwear. A world tradition that means I get to buy underwear, what’s not to love? So I picked up a brand new pair of 20151231_195749briefs and I could not be happier with them. I got the Jack Adams classic cut briefs, the Team Brief and they rock.

Now, I knew that they would be amazing before I got them. Because I have a similar pair in blue, so I was confident this would be a great pair. The bold red is reminiscent of that classic red Baywatch speedo. It really pops. It has the classic Jack Adams racing stripes alongside the bulge area that add a touch of sexy design to them.  That makes the front really stand out, more so than normal.

If the color wasn’t enough the feel is divine. With a fabric make up of 92% Cotton and 8% Polyester the feel could not be smoother. It has a good hold where it needs to and an airy breath about it where it counts. The fabric blend is one of Jack Adams staples and is nicely replicated in their trunks and briefs. Giving you a consistent experience across much of their line. The piping along the butt holds up well and gives that extra bit of lift that all bums can use. The bold waist band also helps give a great structure to the pair as well as an overall powerful look.

I picked up my pair from my local store, Under U 4 Men in Seattle. Their flagship store is based out of Portland, Oregon which is where Jack Adams is headquartered. I personally love the shopping experience of the stores. Seeing pairs in person and discussing options with the clerks there. Jack Adams can be found on multiple selling sites like International Jock and Jockstrap Central.

If you haven’t tried out Jack Adam’s line yet you should definitely check them out. If your 2016 hasn’t picked up to the start you were hoping for, go out and treat yourself to a pair of red briefs like these. You never know, they might just be lucky!

Unknown-8I was just looking through the UNB Twitter Stream and I came across Bully Wear. Their name and French Bulldog logo caught my eye. I had to see what they were offering. So I went over to their site and saw the underwear section. I clicked on the link and it took me to small but great selection of underwear! The one pair that stood out to me is the Bark the X boxer brief.

“Bully Wear designs innovative Athletic Apparel that accentuates the male physique. Our edgy tanks, tees and caps are for the self assured man who is not scared to show a little flesh; Hell our customers work hard and play hard!” They also emphasize that they are “committed to bringing quality clothing to the gay and straight community alike.” Bryan and Ray Wong are the guys behind the brand. They say: “My partner and I both know the benefits of working out and keeping in shape as we go into our forties and fifties. We thought it would be fun to create a line of Athletic apparel that incorporated our lifestyle, our personal style and one that would show off the male physique, while remaining comfortable and affordable.”

Unknown-7

The Bark the X is a pair of boxer briefs made out of polished cotton mesh. The X comes from the X on the pouch. It makes the whole pouch stand out a bit more. The pouch color on both the red and black is white. The combination with the white pouch and mesh, it will accent and show off your body. Which for some of our readers is a good thing.

The design to me is pretty awesome. It was the pair that caught my eye first. Well, maybe the jock caught my eye first but this is the one I clicked on to learn more about. Its sexy but not over the top. The cotton mesh makes it slightly see through and gives a hit of skin.

The Bark the X boxer brief is available in red and black from the Bully Wear site for $23.50. The other pairs are pretty cool as well so go check out Bully Wear

NOTE: Our guys are going to start profiling pairs we love. The first to report is Underwear Dude, we have a lot of new guys and new posts coming soon!

Hey all, I’m Sam, and I go by Underweardude on twitter. I’ve been into undies off and on for about a decade now. I’ve been apart of a couple articles already.  Most recently being one of the two straight guys on the conversation about thongs.

The pair that is my favorite pair right now is my Ergowear Max Sauve Gold Bikini in blue. There is a lot to like here. As soon as I saw it announced, I knew that I had to have this pair. Just something about how the colors looked. That shiny gold waistband, bright and loud but also somehow understated.  If gold can ever be called that. It looks classy, not trashy.

I love the suave fabric(95%Polyester/5%spandex). Such a nice feel, but doesn’t feel feminine either like I imagine silk might.  The design is nice, very low rise.  The rear is big enough to stay still, the pouch of course is as good as Ergowear’s usually are.

Its very comfortable.  I did discover that after a long day the part of the pouch that lifted you up could get uncomfortable. A quick reposition made short work of that, and that only occurred once, after about 10 hours of wear in. Also, when first putting on the pair.  The pouch feels like it’s at an odd angle, but once the pair is fully on it feels fine and normal. The pair felt slightly small to me upon first putting it on, but fits fine. I’m not 100% sure of my true waist dimensions so I’m not sure how true to their sizing charts it is. I got the pair through being a part of the GDDWorld Ambassador Program. But I would have definitely purchased it myself otherwise. You can get it through GGDWorld, and also through Ergowear themselves.  I bet through more than a few more sites as well.

Basically, like all the other Ergowear bikinis i’ve tried, I can’t wait to wear this pair again. It’s comfortable and looks good on me. What more can a guy want?

We got a chance to talk to an up and coming model in the world of men’s underwear, named Matt Josbena. He’s was introduced to us through a former UNB guy. He’s a really great guy and we wanted you guys to know more about Matt.

Name: Matt Josbena
Age: 27
Interesting Fact: I used to weigh 300 pounds

What do you want to get into modeling? Why underwear/swimwear underwear/swimwear?

Modeling has always been a huge dream for me. To me its so much more than just taking a picture. It’s being completely vulnerable, and that was something I struggled with for a long time growing up. The reason why I love modeling underwear and swimwear is because you have to be truly comfortable in your own skin, and that is something I really want to help people do…build confidence!

What do you think sets you apart from other models in the industry?

I don’t think anything in particular sets me apart to be completely honest. Every model brings something to the table. Whether that be with personality, look, experience. I will, however, say that I am passionate and completely committed to my work. To me dedication, passion, and persistence go a long way.

What shoots have you done so far?(Which brands/photogs have you worked with?

I have done a lot of lifestyle shoots, bridal shoots, and fitness shoots. Over the past few year is when I got comfortable and confident shooting in underwear and my favorite photographer that I have grown to trust and we instantly work well together is Vincent Alain from Vincent Alain Photography. He is a genius!

Underwear has many styles from boxer briefs to thongs. Do you have any pairs you don’t want to wear on a shot? ?

I am most comfortable in briefs, but I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that I have just never tried wearing others. They can be kind of intimidating…am I right?!

Are there any underwear/swimwear brands you’d love to work with? Why?

Oryx, Andrew Christian, PUMP and Aussiebum are definitely on the top of my list. Mainly because I really love the design of the underwear and they also look extremely comfortable! But if there is one thing I love about modeling its being able to help a product line grow. So gaining the knowledge of other products would help me bring more business to other brands VIA social media and word of mouth.

Which photographers would you love to work with on a project?

I’ve got to be honest, I have followed Styrke Studio for a long time on Instagram and the photos are always incredible.

Who do you consider super stars in the world of modeling?

Eric Turner and Vince Sant. They make it look so effortless, which is how it should be. Natural and real.

Outside of modeling and working out what do you do in your down time? What are your hobbies and interests?

I love to cook and bake. I really like to go to natural springs and go for a kayak or a hike…be close to nature. I love taking acting classes at my studio ClassAct in Orlando. Traveling is definitely up there too. Really it comes down to making myself a better person and gaining more experience and knowledge! Also I love watching Netflix in my underwear sitting on my bed.

What type of fitness regime do you do to keep in shape, and does it change when you do a shoot?

I am in the gym 5-7 days a week depending on what I have got going on. Usually start out with a little warm up before lifting to wake up my body and then I go into the heavy stuff to build muscle. I generally do 20-30 minutes of cardio to keep myself lean. When I am about to shoot, I usually don’t lift as heavy and keep the cardio up. But “abs are made in the kitchen” so if you want that then you definitely have to keep on top of your diet.

Models can’t always eat great what is your favorite guilty pleasure in food?

Oh gosh! I think I have more than one…Pizza for sure and sweets (cake, cookies, candy, you name it!)

We are an underwear blog so what makes up your underwear drawer? (what percentage of briefs, boxer briefs, jocks, thongs do you have?)

Its 100% briefs. I just find them most comfortable.

What is one word that describes you?

Passionate

If you were stranded on a deserted island what is one thing you must have with you?

Protein Powder

What is your favorite color

Blue

What is a fact about you that would surprise our readers? (are you shy? Love disco? Know all the words to Star Wars?)

My entire life is a Bridesmaids quote. I can quote the entire movie. It so damn funny! And its always an ice breaker cause who hasn’t seen it?! That was the hint…if you haven’t seen it drop everything and watch it. You wont regret it.

IMG_1952After the last post I received some questions about Patreon. So here is an FAQ of sorts for you guys

What is Patreon? Its a crowd funding platform for content creators. Fans can give you an amount per post or monty. We have chosen monthly because of the amount of content we do a month

How much can I donate? You can donate as little as a dollar a month to what ever you feel you want to give. You can end at anytime as well or set limits on how much you give a year.

How do I donate? You need to create a Patreon account at patreon.com and fill out all your information.

Can I donate and remain anonymous? YES you can. If you don’t want your name listed on our site we can use a pseudonym or “anonymous” but you will have to let Patreon know who you are. If you wish to remain anonymous let us know and we definitely will respect your wishes. You can still get all the rewards on the different levels.

Why are you doing Patreon? We are doing this because we don’t do paid/sponsored posts. It goes against why I started the blog. Its about our opinions on underwear and gear. I would rather be held accountable to our readers than a paid sponsor for our livelihood.

What will our money be used for? It will help with the costs of running the blog. We also want to get better photo and video equipment and lastly upgrade some computers for the site. The money will also be used for special shoots for you guys and review pairs for brands we may not work with.

How can you donate? If you want to donate go to the UNB Patreon Page and take a look! If you have any more questions please reach out to us

UNB Und Josh-11 (1)There was a time where jocks were very common place in the world of working out and sports. It was pretty much standard that you would wear a jock for any sporting activity. The main reason was for support during the event and to prevent a sprain. Some sports still wear jocks but others have abandoned it for more modern underwear.

Contact sports still wear jocks. This is especially true if you have to wear a cup. Sports like baseball and hockey come to mind. But, sports such as Football are moving away from the jock. When I was little and playing sports it was a right of passage to go get your first jock.

What has replaced the jock? At the gym its moved more to UnderArmour and Nike gear. Its form fitting compression shorts that give you extra support in the legs. This gear has hit the mainstream and guys of all kinds are wearing them. It’s rare to see a guy actually in a jock at the gym now. I think a guy would get strange looks for wearing one!

There have been major advances in technology that have pushed the jock aside from being the main jock gear. This isn’t necessary a bad thing. Its great to see companies improving and making better underwear for men. But I still miss the jock!

So where can you find jocks? In 2009 I named it the year of the jock. This is really when the fashion jock too off. Before then fashion jocks were considered fetish wear. After 2009 it’s a standard pair more companies are making. They are experimenting with the fabrics used in jocks and with the traditional design. Each company is putting their own design spin on this classic.

DSC_0119

A prime example of this is the original C-IN2 Grip jock. They updated the jock for working out and gave it a new design with new materials. Gone is the uncomfortable nylon pouch and it was substitute by moisture wicking fabric. The big leg straps were replaced by smaller straps that felt more comfortable. Lastly the 3 inch waistband was replaced more standard one you would wear under gym shorts with out it showing.

Just when I think I’ve seen all the possible designs of a jock, someone puts a new one out! The jock is becoming a staple in the world of men’s underwear. No longer worn for working out but more for fashion and comfort.

In the 70’s and 80’s the jock was more of a fetish garment then an every day pair. Now guys are wering them to work under a suit. To run errands under jeans or just to feel comfortable in every day wear. What is a loss for the world of sports is a gain for the world of fashion.

We would love to hear what is your favorite jock on the market today.
