The underwear version of a “quantum leap for mankind” is taking that courageous step. From generic “tighty-whities” to quality underwear. It can be daunting venturing into the world of great, comfortable, sexy underwear. The variety is overwhelming. The color selection kaleidoscopic, and the style selections offer everything from well-tailored boxers to extreme fetish wear. Once you get over the explosion of choices — the rest is tons of fun!

How to get from “droopy drawers” to a fabulous first layer? You need a “bridge to underwear”! Here are some suggestions for some “bridge brands.”

First and foremost: Calvin Klein – “CK” in “undie-speak” is the go-to brand. It’s been around long enough to be mainstream and considered conservative by some. Yet well-constructed, form-fitting, with style selections to fit every body type.

The safest is the neither hot nor cold “boxer brief.” It’s basic enough to show off at the gym. Yet stylish enough to make the break from discount store multi-pack underwear.

Boxer briefs do a great job of spanning the gulf with their full-coverage styling, sensible colors, and enough fabric. S that you can wear them in front of your mother. Because of that, they also aren’t all that interesting or fun. Time to take another step across the bridge!

Trunks! The style that’s nearly perfect for the slightly older “dad bod”! They feel great, cover a multitude of sins, and offer colors, pouches, and fabrics for any taste. and — you can drop your pants in the locker room with total confidence!

Venture into another mainstream brand, 2XIST, for a great selection of trunks. At 25 years old, the brand is firmly established and has found its niche. Their quality, fabrics, and design are among the highest in the biz. Their selection of trunks is unsurpassed. It’s an easy, fearless step from the “middle child” of boxerbriefs. Which aren’t sure what they want to be when they grow up, to the more adventurous younger sibling of trunks.

The last step on this leg of our journey is to form-fitting, lo-rise, sculpted pouch briefs. If you made it this far, there’s no turning back — and be forewarned, from here, it’s a joyful slippery slope all the way to bikinis and thongs!

The brand recommendation for briefs? Another mainstay: C-IN2. Founded by the former head designer at 2XIST. C-IN2 transported the same commitment to quality and craftsmanship. While ramping up its edgy designs, fun fabrics, and a pouch profile that might push your envelope — in a good way!

Check out these briefs: What’s not to love? Eye-catching design, fit that lifts and enhances, fabric that’s soft and effortless. A waistband that spells confidence! Yet — they aren’t overly revealing or betray someone attempting to capture their lost youth! They are good, solid undies that are so much fun to wear — you just have to try them! If you’re nervous about too much profile, slip them on under a pair of jeans.

How about those of you over 50 who read this blog — what do you wear? Has your taste in underwear matured as you have? What brands or styles do you love?

You’re never too old for a little party in your pants!

Military inspired underwear has been around for a few years. Like many other trends in underwear, such as mesh, pink and thongs! It’s not going away. I do like that this is sticking around and more and more brands are giving it their own spin. Go Softwear is not a stranger to military inspired undies. They have been making them for years. Also, for fire, police and more The latest collection is called the Boot Camp Collection.

The new Boot Camp collection comes in a Tank, Trunk, Jock Brief and brief. The designs are not just military inspired. It’s a mesh of military and athletic. Maybe if our military offered cool underwear more of us would join…prob not but it’s worth saying out loud. The waistband is a camo band with the HARD CORE name in red across the front. The body of the pair is an army green, of course.

Unlike other fetish pairs, this doesn’t scream “HEY I”M WEARING FETISH UNDERWEAR.” Wearing mesh, rubber like material or metallics will draw attention. This could be worn to the gym and the tank with jeans. I don’t know if anyone would really know what the pair was, unless they are versed on undies.

The line is made out of a 90% cotton 10% lycra blend fabric. Making is a great fabric that fits well. It will hold up to  any activity you want to perform while wearing them. You can find this pair on the Go Softwear website.

This year we decided to do something different in our Valentines Day Guide. I asked our guys to recommend a few pairs. However, they fit in three categories. The first is a Classic Pair, a pair that has classic styling for each guy (note that each guy has a different opinion on each of these, that’s what makes UNB so great). Next is a romantic pair, one you could wear on a date with someone you have a long lasting relationship. Lastly is erotic, something designed to rock the world of your partner you have had or just met. Here are our recommendations.

Classic Picks

The Bottom Drawer: For my classic pick, I’m going to go with Kiniki’s Stretch Cotton Micro Brief. It’s a classic cut bikini with some skimpiness added with it’s low cut and ¾ back. Cotton also comes to mind when I think of classic and these are a 95% cotton and 5% elastane. The 5% elastane makes a big difference and gives these a snugger fit than you’d get with just cotton. Of course you have to have a Valentine color available, which is red for this pair. https://www.kiniki.com/collections/mens-briefs/products/micro-brief-red-stretch-cotton?variant=1170894032

UNB Tim – Xtremen 51388 Microfiber Boxer Briefs Color Gray – Classic doesn’t mean it can’t be sexy. I love the look of long boxer briefs. They gray of these are a classic color. These can be worn under jeans or casual. It can also be under a suit. While not red or black, I think you don’t have to go with those two colors to make Valentine’s Day. https://www.clevermoda.us/collections/style-boxer-briefs/products/xtremen-51388-microfiber-boxer-briefs-color-gray

UNBSandy – Black Silk Heart Boxers by Royal Silk – It’s just fun and sexy to lounge about in a pair of well-fitting and flattering silk boxers covered with bright red hearts! Some guys (of a certain age) like the less-form-fitting aspect of boxers and after all — the silk adds a nice profile! http://royalsilkusa.com/black-silk-heart-boxers-2.html

UNB Bryce – My classic pair is the Saxx Fuse Boxer with the Pineapple Bomb print. To me classic is a pair that would be perfect any day of the week. Saxx is perfect for that, extremely comfortable and designed to help keep your equipment away from your legs. I love the Pineapple Bomb print because the pineapple is fun, and the color is bright. https://www.saxxunderwear.com/us/fuse-boxer-3946.html

Romantic Picks

The Bottom Drawer: For a romantic pair of underwear I normally lean towards a thong. Let’s go with a skimpy thong that will show off all your assets. The Joe Snyder JS11 Rio Thong is what I’m going to recommend. It has nice narrow sides and tail and a u-shape pouch that just keeps everything contained. You’ll get maximum exposure with this selection. For an added bonus these can double as swimwear. It’s available in several good colors for Valentine’s Day. https://joe-snyder.us/js11-joe-snyder-rio

UNB Tim – Gregg Homme Rococo Briefs – Romance comes in many forms. Lace to me is super sexy and romantic. These briefs are made for a romantic evening out. After a candle lit dinner to come home and surprise your partner with these. They are skimpy but not too skimpy. Perfect for a long make out session with your partner!   http://gregghomme.com/rococo/142103-rococo-briefs

UNBSandy – Magic Silk Silk Knit Lo Rise Bikini — nothing says romance like red silk and these knitted silk lo rise briefs are an invitation to a romantic evening no one can refuse! Slip these on and send the message that you don’t intend to wear them very long! These undies feel great whether you’re the one wearing them or the one exploring! https://www.mensunderwearstore.com/prod/magic-silk/MS-6386-RED16.html

UNB Bryce – Pistol Pete Metallica Zip Front Brief. For me romantic underwear is something you want to wear around a special person. What can be more romantic than wearing gold underwear! The pair also features a fully functional zipper on the front for easy access when you need it. http://www.internationaljock.com/pistol-pete-metallica-zip-front-brief-gold,20497.html

Fetish Recommendations

The Bottom Drawer: Ertoic for me is more sheerness, enhancing pouches, and probably put g-strings here too. None of which I have many of or wear very often and not real wild considering some erotic options out there. I’m going to recommend one that I don’t actually own for this one, but it’s a quality brand that I have several pairs from. I’m going with Bodyaware’s Italian Transparent Tactel Tanga. I have their regular Italian Tanga (not listed anymore) made of the same material and it is sheer and shows everything. The Tactel Tanga is available is some pastel colors that would work great for Valentine’s Day. https://bodyaware.com/collections/tangas/products/q106

UNB Tim – Maskulo Rubber Look Briefs – Suppose you want to get a little wild on Valentine’s day? Something fetish looking but easy to take care of? Maskulo has the Rubber look briefs. Made out of an 80% nylon, 20% spandex / lycra / elastane with a solid waistband. This pair has a detachable codpiece, that they are known for making. The back is a zipper. Yeah, a zipper!  No matter what you are in the mood for that evening, you are covered (Sorry for the pun). Mix this with a harness and some restraints and you have 50 shades of fun. http://maskulo.com/collections/featured-1/products/rubber-look-briefs-detachable-pouch-zippered-rear-black

Underweardude-If I was going for something a bit..different on Valentine’s day, I’d go for one of Pikante’s Castro Thongs. The front pouch is really more like a sleeve so you can show your significant other exactly what you’ve got to work with. https://www.pikanteunderwear.com/products/pikante-pik-8017-castro-thong-color-red

UNBSandy – Good Devil Red Jockstrap — it’s red, backless, with a sheer see-thru pouch — really — what else could a Valentine need? http://www.gooddevil.com/good-devil-gd4818-jockstrap-red

UNB Bryce– Gregg Homme Shackled Briefs. What says fetish more than chains and leather? These briefs have a leather like look with chains that hang down over the pouch. Maybe wearing these will help excite your partner into trying something new in the bedroom. http://gregghomme.com/fetish%20look/140803-shackled-briefs

These are a few suggestions from our guys. We hope you find a pair you like or it inspires you to find something perfect for your Valentine’s Day celebration.

We do a lot of posts on UNB over the years about what to wear out on your Valentine’s Day celebration with your significant other. This year is no different from others. We have some great suggestions coming this week.  Which I think you guys will like! But, back to the point of this post. Being one of the few single guys on UNB (we have a few of us on the site). I haven’t had a Valentine’s Day Date in a while. Before you go “awe Poor UNB Tim” its’ more my choice than anything else. Right now I feel I am where I need to be in the dating world.

Over the last 8 Valentine’s Days I have run UNB, some years I have said “Fuck it”, I’m wearing something fun. Other years I just simply forgot, don’t you married/dating guys wish you could just forget the day? This year however, got me thinking, why should the single guys be left out of the day. It’s one day where underwear can be celebrated and you can show the sexier side of yourself.

Who cares is you’re the only one going to see it? As we have said many times, great underwear gives you power. It makes you feel more confident throughout the day. I know when I wear something super sexy, through the day I remember what I have on and it makes me smile. Going “Oh yeah I have on (insert pair).” I know many of you do as well.

If you’re single and aren’t doing anything. That morning get up and pick out one of the sexiest pairs you own. It could be a black lace brief under your suit going to the office. A thong under your jeans going to class. A bright colored bikini wearing under your coveralls. Or just a classic pair of longer boxer briefs for a day at home. What ever you are doing, single guys unite and wear great undies. Our married/dating fellow underwear lovers shouldn’t have all the fun on this day!

Ergowear has updated their Suave line. If you haven’t tried the Suave line, I highly recommend it. It is one of my favorite lines in the Ergowear line up. The fabric is some of the softest there is on the market. When you think of great underwear, fabric is pretty high on the list. And according to our readers, a supportive and great pouch. This line has both of those things in one. The pairs I have of the Suave line are in my regular rotation of underwear.

The new release has two colors. They are blue and my favorite green. Match those colors with the Feel pouch. The feel pouch is more of a natural, free hanging pouch. It’s for the guy who wants support but not super enhancing or showing off.  I have had many people comment to me on this pouch is one of their favorites. When you first put it on, mine felt a little strange. It took me a minute to get used to it.

The fabric is 95% Polyester 5% Spandex microfiber. Which may sound like a strange combo. I know there are many hearing “polyester? Nope!” This isn’t your fathers polyester. It’s one of the softest fabric combinations in the Ergowear lineup. I think most guys, who give it a chance will love it as much as I currently do!

Lastly are the styles. It has the Mini Boxer, Bikini and Thong. The Mini boxer is more of a trunk and almost a brief. The bikini is a true bikini (I won’t get into the specifics) and the thong is what you would expect. Any of these would be a great addition to your underwear drawer! Check out the entire collection.

BRAND: Ergowear
PAIR: Suave Feel Mini Boxer, Bikini and Thong
COLORS: Blue or Green
FABRIC: 95% Polyester 5% Spandex microfiber
SIZES: Small – XL
COST: Thong – $27.48, Bikini – $29.48, Miniboxer -$34.66

Last week we had the Bottom Drawer talk about bodysuits. We had to ask a brand creating some of the sexiest and most interesting bodysuits a few questions about the new trend.

Why do you think there is a trend in bodysuits?

The form-fitting nature of bodysuits has quite a sexy appeal to it, and the fact that it can be worn as underwear or as part of an outfit follows the trend of clothes being multi-purpose, which is important for anyone who enjoys thrifty fashion.

Guys are stepping out and why do you think they are choosing BodyAware bodysuits?

I think they’re choosing us because we offer so much in the realm of bodysuits! Whether you need it for fitness, to show some skin with a sheer fabric, or just be comfortable in some rayon, we have so many different kinds that fill any bodysuit cravings you may have.

What makes your suits different from others on the market?

Ours are different because of just how they show off all of your beautiful assets, as well as the innovation that we attempt with each bodysuit, like how our YogaAware Bodysuit has a thong back, and how our V-Neck Ribbed Bodysuit could easily look like a trendy t-shirt if you wore some pants over it. No matter what we do with our bodysuits, we always intend to make them sexy, so that you can feel sexy while you wear them.

Here are some of the bodysuits BodyAware has currently:

Bodysuits Have You Tried OneWho out there has tried bodysuits? I’m talking about the ones that look similar to a leotard and not full body. They fit in with bikini and thongs with their association of being feminine. They might get that rap even more so.

I have tried out a few about 10 years ago. The ones I tried had the tank top style cut top and I saw them as underwear and undershirt in one. I had a thong cut and two bikini/brief cuts. The only issue I had with the ones I tried is using the restroom. Two of the three would require you to remove your shirt to get your arms out of the bodysuit to pull it down to go potty. If you had to pee then you could slip yourself out the side. The other one had snaps in the crotch that was a better design for restroom use, but then you had to get them snapped again. If in a public bathroom at a urinal, people might wonder what you were doing.

For me they ended up being mainly sleepwear, since they would be a pain for restroom use away from the house. I did use one as base layer for cross-country skiing. I could also see them for short term wear like working out.

This post came about because UNBTim pointed out that he’s seeing more brands offering them like Bodyaware and Pistol Pete. That got me looking to see what is being offered out there in bodysuits for guys now. My one pair was from Bodyaware and was the one I liked best. They have added five bodysuit versions to their line recently. That brings their total to 9 different bodysuits. Two of the new ones have no opening between the legs, two have snap closures, and the one has full front zipper. What I like about some of the ones I’m seeing now is that they are making them look like shirts. Pistol Pete has ones that look like hoodies. Though most bodysuits look like they are tight fitting shirts. Even came across a site that you could get polo looking ones. Another brand that I see offering some bodysuits is Rufskin, which says theirs are ideal for high endurance exercise. They definitely do look that way.

In the end, the bodysuit never caught on with me. I do find the ones that are looking like shirts interesting, but I like my outwear shirt to be a looser fit. If they didn’t cost so much, maybe I would give them another try. At this point I do not want to pay that much for something I might not wear. What are your experiences with bodysuits that look like leotards?

I attended a boarding school in Florida during the 1970s and while there was a dress code, I discovered that I could express myself with underwear, and consequently found very early brands that used color and fabric that weren’t the typical white briefs that I had worn my entire life. I recall having a package of Hanes that were colorful, trimmed in contrasting colors, were soft, and cut in a very short boxer brief or trunk style. I literally wore them out!

During my college years, I lived in Chicago and discovered that some of the trendier department stores had more adventurous styles of underwear — Elance and Poco — and I started wearing colorful bikinis and briefs. Again, a similar theme, my exterior was either dictated by a work-related uniform or dress code; yet I could enjoy my freedom of expression with the layer closest to me! Plus…it made me feel sexy as hell! Still does! Hence, the REAL reason I love underwear — it’s fun to get dressed and it’s often the first thing I pick out! The ads with Jim Palmer and Marky Mark were huge incentive to expand my selections and they contributed to the idea that good men’s underwear was a mainstream commodity!

My first venture into high-quality underwear was Calvin Klein (no surprise!) but then discovered 2XIST, CIN2, N2N, Andrew Christian, Cocksox, and Obviously, which today, are my “go to” everyday underwear. I usually wear briefs but love to mix in a thong (CK and N2N) or a jock (N2N, Aussiebum, AC). I love quality, design, color, and pouch. I also like supporting brands and designers that are trying new things, pushing styles and fit.

NOTE: UNB Sandy is one of the newest members at UNB. He will be speaking to guys over 50, showing them no matter your age, you should wear great undies.

I’ve been following UNB for some time, and was wondering if you could recommend your favorite hang free / anatomically correct briefs? I’ve seen reviews of various hang free briefs on the site before (Alex’s review of the CSX Sports Brief comes to mind), but I was wondering if you could do a consolidated post on your favorite pairs (or just email me what you recommend)?

I got a couple pair of AC Almost Naked briefs a while back, along with the CSX Sports Brief, and really would love to branch out a bit more. Honestly, after trying these, I can’t go back to non-anatomically correct pouch underwear.

I know this was a bit long, but I’d really appreciate any suggestions you folks have.

UNBTim:

First, this question sparked our ASK UNB. I think it’s a good question as well. Ergonomically designed pouches are one of the hottest trends in men’s underwear. It’s a trend that I hope doesn’t go anywhere. I love an amazing pouches. We were asked about “hang free” pouches. For those of you who don’t know what this is, it’s a pouch that lets your boys hang naturally. There is no extreme pouch or lift.

One of my favorite brands over the years has been Ergowear. One pair that you should check out is the Ergowear Feel Vermouth Suave Bikini  – While the feel is not one of my favorites pouches from Ergowear I prefer the X3D pouch better. This is a more natural hang pouch from Ergowear. It still has great support but more of a natural feel. It’s not as restricting as some pouches out there.

Another company that does an amazing job with hang free pouches is Sukrew. They are still one of the new brands on the block. However, I have described their pouch as one that seems to have been on the market for years and refined. Unlike other pouches, this one doesn’t push up and show off. It lets you hang freely and feel great all through the day. This crosses all their designs. From the Sprinters, briefs, jocks and thongs. How they have done the pouch in all these is like witchcraft. If you’re a fan of briefs the Full Brief, you will like! If you buy the U-Brief, well, you won’t get any support. It has no pouch at all.

My last recommendation is anything from N2N Bodywear with the N-Hance pouch. This is a specially designed pouch from N2N. It comes on a variety of their styles. Right now is an odd time because they are closing out a lot of their underwear and a new line will be released soon. The pouch has been made in several different fabrics and styles. The briefs, especially the bikinis are made for this. Its similar to the other pouches, but hard for me to describe. Its a great mix of support and the way a guy naturally hangs.

These are my top three recommendations. There are way more pouches I could recommend. But you wanted hang free! And I think you would be happy with any of these.

Michael:

The first ones to try are from the Australian designer, Obviously. They have gone all in, and their entire line is anatomical with many of their designs made of soft bamboo. Last year, UNBTim gave a rave review of the brand and it’s AnatoMAX line, saying “All the pairs I have ever owned have been amazing.”

Although not advertised as anatomical, I’ve tried the Baskit’s Energy Briefs, found the pouch to be quite roomy, and it comes in fun, attention-grabbing colors. It is made of nylon (90%) and spandex (10%), so these are perfect to wear during sweaty, physical activities.

As the reader notes, Andrew Christian, with its “Almost Naked” collection, makes anatomical cuts. But, you should also try their “Show-it” collection. They have an internal “comfy cup,” where you put your package, and as the name implies, you’ll show off more. More importantly, just like a kangroo’s pouch, your joey is lifted up and protected from potential leg crushing when you can’t (or shouldn’t) “manspread.”

Some designers have been very explicit with this design move. But, more and more designers have retooled their collection to be anatomically correct without much fanfare. I predict that this natural design may just become the new standard in menswear.

Hey guys, my name is Mike and this is my first post for UNB! Anyone that meets me would think I’m your normal, 30s(ish) straight guy next door. But on any given day if you had x-ray vision you’d see that I’m probably wearing what most would consider to be pretty crazy underwear: tiny briefs, bikinis, maybe a thong. Any color or style is fair game, and a lot of days I base the rest of my outfit on the color and style of underwear I pick first.

I can’t think back to a specific moment when I realized I loved underwear; it’s just always something that interests me. I remember being in high school and seeing the Calvin Klein underwear at Macy’s. It seemed so adventurous, so adult to think about buying briefs like that. I mean, each pair came in a box! Everyone knows the fewer pairs per package, the better it is. It was also such a thrill to finally get the nerve to buy a pair of CK hip briefs and have to take them up to the checkout. I also remember the time I bought a CK thong and tried to ‘hide’ between others pairs so it didn’t seem so obvious. Which I’m sure it was! To this day I get a rush out of buying fun underwear in person and seeing if I get any reaction from the cashier.

After high school I found the world of online underwear retailers and the floodgates opened for me. I started with the big players like 2(x)ist, CK, and C-IN2. Then I branched off into the wonderful world of Andrew Christian and cheapundies. It turns out I’m very partial to briefs, especially anything with a good pouch. I’m also a sucker for sales, so I’m always willing to pull the trigger on something fun and new.

The fact that I found great fitting anatomical underwear, fabrics that feel amazing, and perfectly fitting cuts like briefs means I’m never going back to ‘regular’ underwear. Add in things like jock briefs and thongs to the mix and the best part of my day is in the morning when I get to pick what to wear.

To me, the best part of underwear is the amount of variety available and how it always makes me feel amazing. As a straight guy, I know the typical stereotype about guys’ underwear is the image of string bikinis, probably leopard print and sold in a tube of 3. But I guarantee that any straight guy that would try a modern pair of briefs with a good pouch and an awesome fabric would be an instant convert. That’s what I hope to accomplish here at UNB. I want to share my experiences with new brands and underwear to straight guys that are either intimidated or hesitant to dip their toe into our wonderful world. There’s no shame in feeling great from what you’re wearing. You’ll get a thrill knowing that you’re the only one who knows you’re rocking red briefs today. And who knows, maybe your coworker sitting next to you just happens to be a fan of Thong Thursday too!

NOTE: UNB Mike is one of the newest guys on UNB. We will have a lot more from him soon!

Most of us work 40+ hours a week. Meaning we are spending at least 8 hours a day in our undies. We should be wearing great undies to work to give us one less thing to worry about or annoy us. After talking to you guys over the years, I realize not everyone wears their good underwear to work. I have to go WHY? You are missing out on feeling great every day.

I know there are some that have strict uniforms and requirements. The military comes to mind. Also, professions where safety is key and fire resistance is important. These I get, you can’t wear what you want. But, if you’re an accountant, retail worker, mechanic or anything else, you need to be wearing your great underwear. Don’t leave it for weekends or special times.

One of the biggest joys of underwear for me is the comfort they bring throughout the day. If I wear something that doesn’t give support, has bad fabric or dull colors. I feel less than optimal. My best example is taking my beloved briefs/bikinis and then having to wear boxers. I’d sooner go commando, which to me is the same thing.

Office Workers

Fewer people are being made to wear suits. If you are consider wearing underwear that matches or complements your tie. It’s a small step that no one will know. If your business casual does the same with your shirt. Whether it’s a polo or button up shirt, make your undies match your shirt. It seems hokey to say but it’s a fun thing you can do. After a while doing it, you will subconsciously start doing it. I do now. I pick out either undies or shirt first and the whatever I pick next will match.

Retail Workers

If you are in retail, and I have been there. Wear underwear that gives great support. You will be on your feet 8 hours or more. Walking, standing and being active. I”d say be more practical. But that doesn’t mean you can’t still be stylish. There are plenty of great undies with pouches and amazing design. Like Sukrew, N2N Bodywear and more.

Blue Collar Workers

I think our blue collar brothers are left out of a lot of underwear discussions. It’s often thought these guys don’t like undies or could care less. We do have readers who are blue collar who love undies. They aren’t trapped in the world of boxers or boxer briefs. If you’re not “out” as an underwear guy, you may not want a whale tail from a thong sticking out. You may never hear the end of it. But, if that’s how you roll, by all means, do it. You can get great underwear that is more classic in styling and won’t bring too much attention. Like Baskit, Todd Sanfield and more.

If you’re not wearing great undies every day, you should. Wear some great undies to make you feel amazing and sexy every day

Are you a fan of bikinis? Do you want to try bikinis? Are you going to try new styles? If you answered yes to these questions a pair to give a look into is the Pistol Pete Rainbow Bikini. I am a big fan of the bikini cut. We have seen more and more brands make them. Pistol Pete has made every color in the rainbow and then some.

First, let’s talk about the colors. It comes in eight colors. Yes EIGHT! They are orange, purple, black, blue, green, red, white and yellow. It’s got every color of the rainbow! It’s rare that brand release so many colors at once. But, I’m glad they did! Now everyone can get their favorite color in this line.

What makes this a bikini? According to our bikini expert, Bikinisnthongs on twitter, it’s a lower cut, minimal waistband and smaller sides. I think this fits the bill on all three of these criteria. It’s also noted that the back is a full back. I prefer a full back and know a few of our readers feel same. Other bikinis could have a 3/4, half or minimal back.

The size of this bikini to me is almost perfect. It looks to has a front seam. It creates a bit of a pouch. It’s not an enlarging or enhancing pouch. Note that bikinis can have seams in the front, back, both or on the side. Each guy has a preference for where the seam is. I prefer a front seam.

Made out of 80% nylon and 20% spandex, it will have plenty of stretch and give. It will fit you like a second skin. Again, in any color you want! Including my favorite color, GREEN! Find this and a matching thong, the Rainbow Thong, is available in just as many colors.

BRAND: Pistol Pete
PAIR: Rainbow Bikini
COLORS: orange, purple, black, blue, green, red, white and yellow.
FABRIC: 80% nylon and 20% spandex
SIZES: Small – X-Large
COST: $24.50

When I started UNB almost 9 years ago I was on a mission to bring undies to the masses. It seemed a little overwhelming but in the last 9 years it has happened. More guys are paying attention to underwear. Our staff has more straight guys than I thought would ever read UNB. A lot of the times I feel I’m preaching to the choir, and this is one of those posts.

Over the years there have been several trends. Each year I think they get more and more sexy. It started with Jocks, then mesh, then erotic and now thongs. I don’t know what it is but thongs have really taken off in the last year and a half. The straight guys are the biggest proponents of thongs.

It seems that more guys want to feel sexy on a daily basis. No longer are you guys waiting for a special occasion to break out the good undies. And why should you? Women can wear all sorts of things its about time we, as men, get to break out more than two styles.

What makes me think this? Guys are not sticking to just cotton blend underwear. Fabrics such as silk, lace and satin are making their way to men’s underwear. They are no longer regulated to women’s underwear. The rise of BodyAware and  Male Basic Lingerie, are two companies that have a new formula for undies. They blur the lines of masculine and feminine.

Gone are the days of the boxers and buy six packs of ill-fitting underwear. I think over the next few years we will see a renaissance in the world of men’s underwear. The average guy will start wearing better undies. I hope this will make the big box stores take note and up their game. Thanks for being a part of the men’s underwear revolution!

We asked you earlier in the week, what do you guys want to do this year. We gave you a variety of things and it was great to see what you guys had to say. We have the poll up and feel free to answer it. But as on Thursday night, January 5th.

We had a tie for first thing to do!

This year break out the swim brief and go for it! And tell us about it!

It’s a great way to expand your work undies!

It seems that more than just I, like jocks at the gym!

While others want to thong at the gym!

Spandex and singlets are growing in popularity!

Try something sexy and fun this year!

Share your love of undies with a friend!

Continue that sharing and ask for it for a gift for a birthday or holiday

Not only wear a thong to work and in general, but at the beach or pool

Introduce your friends to great undies! Give undies as gifts

Just try a thong and enjoy a new experience!

Lace continues to grow in popularity and more of you want to try it.

Convince a friend to try undies and this will be his face!

Thanks for taking part guys!

Back in the day, jocks were pretty much what you wore to the gym. They were made to give you plenty of support and maximum freedom. One small trivia bit, the stripes on the waistband on the classic Bike #10 jocks stripes were different for each sizes. Made that way so you could sort jocks without having to read the label.

Back to the point of the post! Now guys are wearing UnderArmour undies, briefs, trunks and even thongs to the gym. It’s rare you may see a guy change at the gym wearing a thong, but they are wearing them. Many are using them under runners or spandex so they have no or limited lines.

Why Do I like Jocks to work out

I like to wear a jock because of the range of motion. Unlike trunks or UA gear. You are able to bend and stretch. Wearing something like a boxer brief it can ride up when you bend down or stretch too far. There is nothing more annoying to me. A jock won’t loose it’s shape and bind when you stretch.

Jocks for working out, not fashion jocks, are made for exercising. They are made out of material that will keep you cool and dry. One thing I could never figure out is how guys can work out in 100% cotton briefs or boxer briefs. They get wet and don’t breath through the work out. It annoys me to no end.

Lastly, you can express yourself in your jock. Long gone are the days of just the white jock. You can get them in any color of the rainbow. It can even match your workout gear. Most of the sports jocks are solids. I haven’t seen too many prints. I prefer blue, green and red jocks to work out in. It gets me in a good mood!

Are you going to wear a jock to work out? If you are let me know!

This year we talked about underwear as gifts. Either its for you or someone else. If you haven’t read that post, head back to the UNB Archives for the Underwear as Gifts post. This post got me thinking. We all love certain things and are uncertain about what others like. It hit me why not give a subscription as a gift.

How do Subscriptions Work?

Think of it as the underwear of the month club. Every month you get a new pair of underwear. You pick the size and usually style. Then each month like clockwork you get something in the mail. Some of the services will let you pick one style. Like a brief, boxer brief, jock or thong. And you have to stick with that style. Others, will let you get a random style. So you never know what you’re going to get.

Some of the services pick a brand and send out the entire line. That means they will send out that line in each style. Such as the SupaWear SupaDupa line. Whereas, others will mix up what is sent out not always doing the same brand. If you’re getting this along with someone else you may not want to be matchy matchy, but that depends on your style.

Lastly, you can get underwear delivered in a few options. Most do 3 months, 6 Months or a Year. Just look at each site to see what they offer.

For Yourself

If you read UNB on any regular basis. You have styles and brands you love. Some of you even have very large collections. For someone to get you undies, it could be difficult for them to give you something you don’t have in your collection. A subscription will allow them to buy you underwear but get something new every month. Maybe even from brands you haven’t tried or mix up and get different styles.

You can suggest a service to someone close to you. Especially, if they know you love underwear. It takes the hassle out of trying to find something you don’t have in your underwear drawer.

For Someone Else

Let’s say you have a friend who wants to try new undies. You could go out and buy a pair, but wouldn’t exposing them to more than one pair be the perfect gift? An underwear a subscription will expose them to different styles, brands and fabrics. It will allow them to explore underwear with each new shipment.

Give them a 3 month or 6 month subscription to expose them to many different brands. I would suggest getting them a subscription that rotates styles as well. They may Thank you for it later!

Suggestions to Subscription services

There are tons of services. But, here are a few we recommend. I have tried most of these and don’t think you will have any issues with them!

Enjoy Undies this Holiday Season!

There are very few things underwear guys agree on as much as the hatred for Tags/Labels. It consistently ranks high in our reader survey on issues you have with underwear. It’s a given you guys HATE them. But before we get into much more. They are a necessary in underwear. All garments must have tags that have care instructions and fabric content. This means we can’t eliminate them all together.

This post came about from a discussion in our Patreon Slack group. They are a group of guys who support UNB and get a place to talk amongst each other and the UNB editorial board. I asked them about some post ideas. Here are what two members said:

They can be really annoying inside underwear and many brands have gone tagless.  Not sure why all brands haven’t.  I have purchased underwear before that has tags in both the front and back, which seems excessive.  I also have purchased thongs before with a tag in the back that is wider than the thong strap.  I always cut them out but sometimes the extra tag piece can poke your skin which can be really annoying.

All designers should utilize a fabric stamp for thongs rather than a tag for thongs, much the way everyone is starting to do the same for t-shirts.  It’s annoying to pay good $ for underwear that doesn’t come in a 6-pack from Wal-Mart and then have to do surgery on the garment

I’m sure we can all agree when tags are annoying, there is nothing worse. I have taken a pair off mid day and either cut or ripped the tag out. It had to go. One pair that I couldn’t take it out (I had no scissors), got taken off and I went commando. Which is something I hate doing but it was the best alternative.  So how do we fix this issue?

Make them smaller and softer

First, some brands do a great job with tags. They are small and soft enough to not be noticed. If more brands use tags that reflect the size of the pair. A thong’s tag should be smaller than a pair of Boxer briefs. The material they use should be super soft. There are brands that do this well. I rarely notice the tags.

Make them Tearable

Next, make the tags tearable. Meaning, design them to they can easily be removed without using scissors.  Some brands have used perforated tags that you can just rip out. This would be the best with mesh pairs. If you are like me, you don’t want to have a big white tag showing in a pair of black mesh briefs or boxer briefs.

Print Labels on Fabric

Lastly, print the labels directly on the fabric. As one of our Patrons pointed out, it’s now standard for t-shirts to have printed labels on them. This couldn’t happen in all pairs due to the material (see mesh above). One brand that really impressed me with this is Cocksox. The Sports Mesh brief had the tag printed inside the pouch. It was easily read and you don’t notice it!

These are a few solutions about tags. Let us know what you think of the tag issue.
