When you think underwear the first thing that comes to mind usually isn’t Innovation. It’s usually comfortable, sexy, and awesome. Underwear is coming into its own and there are innovations in the manufacturing process, design, fabrics and more. I got the idea for this post when I was at Magic talking to Gregg Homme and Naked. Both companies do great things in the men’s underwear arena and it should be profiled!
The first company we are covering will be Naked. When I talked to Naked at Magic, Joel, gave me a heads up about their Silver line. It sounded pretty cool. The first week in January I got a chance to talk TO Joel about the amazing new line called Silver.
Silver is engineered for performance by bonding 99.9% pure silver to nylon thread.. Silver has been very popular in the health market the last few years because of the natural properties it contains. These properties include its ability to kill bacteria and regulate heat.
Naked learned the military makes some of its clothing with the silver fabric. They do this because in combat there may not be a chance to wash clothes daily and the silver kills the bacteria and increases its wearability and risk of infection. After five years of looking into technology, trying to find the right technology, a company called X-static created a great way to bond the silver to the thread and make the fabric making Naked the first underwear company to use this technology.
Joel explained to me how the technology work. “Sweat doesn’t smell, sweat that reacts with bacteria smell. The silver kills the bacteria on the body so there is nothing for the sweat to re-act with. I travel a lot and the inspiration was something a guy could wear on a long haul flight, to the gym at lunch, or athlete playing sports. Really It can be used for a variety of things a guy will do during his day.”

Over the last few months the underwear companies who have been on Kickstarter continue to grow. This time brand Jake Joseph is taking to Kickstarter to get more funds to make amazing underwear.
I love the crowdfunding model because it gets money to companies that may not get them through traditional means. Jake Joseph has been a great brand over the last few years. We have reviewed them and they have always done well with our reviewers.
You may ask why are they turning to Kickstarter? One of the reasons is they are trying to bring the price point down for its undies. Currently they are around $36 and they want to drop them to $14-21. Which is a price our readers are used to paying.
Second they are wanting to introduce the ZenSho Trunk and Boxer Brief. The ZenSho. Nameed after a Sumo Wrestling term and is branded the “first underwear not to bunch.” If this is the case then sign me up! That is the biggest gripe behind sizing for me!

We changed it up and have divided up our 2014 Guide. We didn’t shoot this one but rather picked some great pairs for you guys. It’s divided up into classic, mild and wild! We hope you enjoy.
Classic Style – Perfect for Date nights:
A date night some guys want to go more classic rather then over the top. Not every guy wants to be sporting mesh or a thong. Which remember it takes all kinds. These guys like to have something that is very comfortable and has classic styling. That doesn’t mean you can’t have some great colors, it doesn’t have to be black or white. You can mix fabric, waistband and trim colors and still remain “classic”. For Valentines day we recommend black or Red as the two colors to focus on. If possible mix the two the combination of the two just pop!
2xist Love Contour Brief (Black) – $18.00 – Black underwear is always sexy and this pair with the red waistband is amazing and would look great under a pants or a suit. The red waistband just sets it off really nicely.

Gregg Homme Booty (Red) – $42.00 – I know not everyone wants to show off their pouch, some were blessed with the bubble butt. I was not but the Booty Briefs are great for the guy with a great butt. It has the full front but the fabric straps in the back. Our very own Bryce loved these.
Andrew Christian Valentines Peek-a-Boo Brief (as Shown)- $24 – This pair was one that was made just for Valentines’s day from Andrew Christian. The pouch of this pair flips open. Yes you heard right. The pouch is not attached the bottom of the pair and allows for easy access. The pair is definitely made for Valentines; silver waistband, pink trim and red pouch/back panels.
Walk on the Wild Side – For the bold and those who want to show it all off
We have many readers who love what is termed fetish wear. You know the super hot, skimpy and leaves very little to the imagination. No mater gay/straight these will be pairs your partner will remember for a long time to come! It’s super fun and not for the shy guy. I imagine many of our readers wearing this under their suits to dinner then coming home for a romantic night and having the underwear be a topic of conversation! Its the start of the underwear season! Well that’s what I call it, at the end of every January and start of February a lot of the new lines start to be released. Aussie Brand Navy Diver has released a new style, called the Ahoy Sailor Aquarius.
The first thing you notice is the really bright/fun Aqua color. The brief is made with a great aqua waistband and horizontal striped fabric. Fabric is made out of a Polyester + cotton + elastine blendThe colors are fun. Which to me one of the main factors in picking underwear is the fun factor. Colors and patterns are very important to me. Granted it’s not the most important but it weighs heavily in my buying decision.
The next feature is the unique button pouch. There are three buttons as you can see, it adds something very fun an nautical to the design, hence living up to the Navy Diver name. Retails for $35.90 at the Navy Diver site. I have seen these in US stores and online but can’t recall off the top of my head where to get them, but do some searching and you can find them.
