Hello Kinksters,

I hope you’re all doing ok, even though Tax season is spanking me quite hard this year (I tried to do it myself via Turbotax instead of hiring a tax person like I always do…I’ll be filing an extension and hiring a tax person…being a travelling circus artist makes taxes complicated). Even if taxes have you down in the doldrums, I have a great item to discuss today to cheer you up. Today, I am going to be talking about the Jock and Codpiece combo from Maskulo.

MaskuloLogo

First I wanna talk a little about the company Maskulo. They seem to be a really awesome company. They were so enthusiastic when I wrote to them about how I was starting a weekly fetishwear column. They were happy to answer all my questions. When you think of gay fetish wear, you might not instantly think of Russia, because Russia isn’t the most outwardly gay friendly place to be. However, Maskulo stands proud, advertising that they are a “Russian human rights supportive company. A part of our profit is donated to democracy and human rights organizations in Russia.” That’s a pretty badass statement to make.

MaskuloJock1

Back to the fetishwear, I got their jock in the mail, and the feel was dreamy. The jock itself is all elastic that fits like a glove, and the front is an open frame around your package with snaps triangulating from the top corners of the pouch frame to the bottom point underneath. The codpiece is a leather-like fabric filled with foam rubber to give it body. The pouch snaps onto the jock and there you have it. When you wanna keep the jock on, but do a little more frontal action, pouch snaps off completely, and you can get to business.

MaskuloJock2

I tested this jock out for how much it can handle by wearing it to teach a ZUMBA class. Everything was great, the butt straps stayed right where I put them before class, the pouch held everything in. It was breathable, and felt like a cloud. My second test-run did involve the pouch being removed, and it was easy and comfortable (what’s worse than being in the middle of sexy time, and then all of a sudden you have to contort so oddly to unsnap/unzip something? Or your partner has to get out the ikea manual to figure it out…)

MaskuloJock3

The jock comes in just the black straps with contrast white waistband, and has pouches in Black, Navy Blue, Red, Yellow and White. Note: the snap codpieces for the Jock is a different snap system from the Singlets and the Shorts (which use a double snap system). The jock sells for roughly 35 Euros, which is around 40 US Dollars on Maskulo.com or if you’re in the U.S., Jockstrap Central is the Exclusive U.S. Retailer. Another totally classy note of how awesome their are, apparently, with every purchase, they send a little baggy of replacement snaps hardware if you ever have an overenthusiastic undresser. That’s just awesome.

I got a few other things from Maskulo (thanks Maskulo!), so you’ll hear more about their products in the future. For now, keep it kinky, and comment below!

TtheAmazing, over and out.

This is a new brief from Andrew Christian call the Palm Brief. I really love the print and colors. I’m not a big florescent color guy but something about this just pops. The thing I think I like best is the print is against a black background. If it had been a while background It wouldn’t have the same effect.

Brand: Andrew Christian
Pair: 9979 Palm Brief
Fabric: 90% Polyamide 10% Spandex
Price: $25

One of the core lines of C-IN2. It is one of the most comfortable lines that C-IN2 makes. If you’re not familiar with the Hand Me Down line let me break it down for you! Do you have a great pair of underwear that you have had for years? One that is well worn and broken in and fits just right? If you said yes, that is what this line is, a pair that has fabric that feels broken in.

This may sound odd. C-IN2 has a way of creating the fabric that feels amazing. I have tried the line and love the feel. It’s not stiff or too binding. You know how some new undies may feel. You need to wash them a few times before they fit just right.

The new Hand Me Down is a stripe fabric. Stripes I feel aren’t quite a trend in the world of underwear yet. They have been around but not really taken off like prints or the color pink. Stripes definitely have a following. This line has a main color with a constrasting color. For instance the the red has a contrast of a heather/grey. My personal favorite is the green/grey! It just pops for me and I love green.

The colors in the line are: Playing Field Heather (green/grey), Letterman Heather (Gold/Purple), Albers Grey Heather (red/grey) and Victory Heather (blue/black). All of these are great combinations and will brighten up your underwear drawer.

The Hand Me Down comes in some of the classic C-IN2 styles. They are the Profile Brief, Lo No Show Profile Brief, Runner Boxer and Lo No Show Army Trunk. The only one I don’t think most will like is the Runner Boxer. Not a lot of our readers like undies cut like a boxer. However, I could see this as a pair for around the house. The pairs retail from $22 for the briefs and $26 for the Boxer/Trunk.

Find the Hand Me Down Line on the C-IN2 site. See all the colors below in each of the styles

2(X)IST just has a fun time designing undies. You can tell that with their new collections. The latest is the Graphic Cotton collection. Prints have been huge in the world of men’s underwear and continue to be strong this year. I think they are here to stay actually!

The new collection maybe a bit different when you see it. Last August when I got to sit down with 2(X)ist at Magic. They showed me this collection. Right away I loved the bold prints they produced for the collection. I wanted them right then! However, but what happens when you are not a big print fan? Are you left out of the line?

Nope! The collection has the prints you see above and ones where it’s a solid and the print is on the waistband. I thought this was genius. Some times you feel like a print and sometimes you don’t, or something like that. This allows the line to reach a broader audience. Believe it or not we have some readers who are not fans of prints. They like more classic colors and cuts. To them putting on something above is a big NO! However, if its the waistband some will definitely go for that!

The collection is available in two cuts. Those cuts are the No-Show brief and trunk. Again both classic cuts for 2(X)ist. And I would dare to say two of their best! Both pairs are made out of a 95% Cotton / 5% Spandex blend. This will give you the breathability of cotton and some stretch from the spandex. The brief retails for $24 and Trunk is $28.

What are the colors: Saffron Zigzag, Safron, Flame Scarlett Zigzag, Dress Blue, Black Fractal Chevron, Bittersweet, Dazzling Fractal Chevron and Dazzling Blue (pictures are in this order below). Each print correlates with a solid color. This is pretty genius by 2(X)ist. See the pictures of both styles below.

Find this at the 2(X)IST site or your favorite retailer!

All the new swim looks great on Elvis, especially the Rio green and black zigzag. Also included in these shots are the very popular Timoteo Daytona shorts in green and blood orange, these are super comfortable and a favorite of the model.

CfZLG-GWwAISlN0When I think of Sukrew, I picture amazing pouch and some great smaller styles. So imagine when I was looking through their Twitter and noticed a longer boxer brief. It made me do a double take. The pictures made them look super sexy. They do a few things I love in a boxer brief. It’s a longer cut and has the Sukrew pouch!

You maybe going “you are not a boxer brief fan.” This is true but the above mentioned things make me really like a pair of Boxer Briefs. I really enjoyed the Sukrew brief pouch. Its one of the best ones on the market. Definitely in my top 10. These look to have that same pouch!

The Boxer Briefs are part of the Sprint style. It comes with the pouch and the U style. The U Style is the pair without a pouch and gives you the feeling of hanging free. This has been in all their designs since the start. I have tried the U style but prefer the full pouch. However, there are many of you out there who love the mix of full undies but letting it all hang out. I would be lying if I didn’t say the Sprint U style has me interested. Something about having that much coverage but being that free.

Sukrew does an awesome job with fabric. The Main Fabric: 95% Polyamide 5% Elastane and Small Panels: 85% Polyamide 15% Elastane for the Jake. The briefs I have feel amazing when I wear them! I would expect nothing less with these
There are three different colors of the the Sprint. It’s available in both styles.

White – Joey – White body with Sukrew blue print fabric

Red/Black – Jake – Red body with black mesh sides and pouch

Sapphire – Topaz – Blue body with a slightly see through Sukrew white print

They all retail for £29.99 at the Sukrew site.

I was going through a lot of old pics from over the years. I am finally going back to create an archive of pictures UNB has received over the years. The first batch was from 2008-2011. I put them all in an iPhoto library. This was one of the pictures I wanted to share! It was shot by Tom Cullis and features the Timoteo Rugby line. It’s a few years old but still an amazing picture!

0281_Printed_2

I was going to profile a nice calm pair of swim briefs. Ones that are more low key and relaxed. I was thinking a simple black brief, which is classic! However, as my week went on I wanted something with a little more pop in them. So it got me thinking who has some great new swimwear? Then I remembered that JOR just released a brand new line!

There are so many great pairs from JOR. It will grace Swimwear Sunday more than once. The pair I chose this week is the Ibiza Swim Briefs. The Ibiza is a print with a blue background. The image features the great island of Ibiza! Match that with the blue sky and it’s a conversation starter for sure! Made out of Polyester 13% Spandex blend with a hidden draw cord waist.

Swimwear should be a bit different than our underwear. You have to admit it’s flattering when someone comes up and asks about your swimwear. “Who made that suit?” “Where did you get that amazing swim suit?” We are sure if you wear this pair you will be asked those questions. That is because prints are big in swimwear. They have been carried over from underwear I believe. Guys just want to express themselves in different way.

One more thing about the pair. We have to turn you around. The back has the print and says “Welcome Summer.” I love this touch! It just adds to the conversation factor! JOR is all about fun!

How is sizing? The sizing chart states that a Small is 28-30, Medium 30-32, Large 32-34 and XL 34-36. Its not a traditional underwear size but it’s comparable to most undies. I wished it came in more sizes on the larger end.

If you are interested in this pair you can find it at your favorite store or online at Candyman Fashion for $45.48

Bermuda Cup 016Spring is here. Ok it’s nearly here and first off the mark with another new release for this year is that quirky little British Brand Bum-Chums again. This time they’re releasing another new design but in a completely new cut for them. Calling it the Bermuda Cup, this long leg trunk piece is a lot of pants for the pennies. Bum-Chums is launching this new design in a re-vamp of some past favourites as a limited run ahead of new styles coming in for the Spring/Summer 2016 collections.

We caught up with Craig from Bum-Chums who said “we were asked if we’d ever bring back some of the more popular old prints we had and that’s just what we’ve done. As well as adding some stock to the specials, we’ve decided to merge the old with the new. Giving a new style entirely at the same time as spring cleaning the fabric store to make room for the new fabrics!”

Craig added, “We really try to listen hard to our customers and hear what they have to say and learn what they want from our brand too. There are still new designs to make such as a more structured bum-boxer, it’s still on our list, but we did hear you!”

The Bermuda Cup design seems to do what it says on the tin, with a trunk style design the length of the 90’s Bermuda Shorts, combined with a cupped and sculpted front pouch, lifting the manly assets then sculpting the rear with their signature bum-chums curved back seam. From memory, Bum-Chums held a vote on their social media channels asking their followers for input for this design before it was made… Not often would you see a brand brave enough to actually do this and hats off to them for having the balls to get their customers involved.

The long legs are finished a hand-span above the knee and edged with a 1cm finished binding and a 1cm on the top binding surrounding the cup, for that extra lift. The pouch itself has a decorative cover stitching down the front, single panel thickness to allow extra stretch and sexiness and is sculpted to be filled in all the right places.

We wonder if this new design will give rise to more cupped designs, maybe in a much shorter, more-skimpy cut just for contrast… Watch this space… Or better still, as they’re listening, why not get involved and make it your brand too.

The three new styles in the Bermuda Cup Collection are set to be the “Snake Bite”, the “Tropic” and the “Barcode”.

Styles are online and available for you go get your hands on now and because of their limited availability will be available only at www.bum-chums.com prices are set at an introductory special price of £19.99 and as they’re limited editions, they will never again be repeated.

15.MV - Earth Line - Conseptual With LogoThe second new line of Modus Vivendi Spring-Summer 2016 collection has just been released. The line is called Earth Line and comprises underwear and t-shirts in two earthy colours: grey and brown. The underwear of this line comes in three distinctive cuts: briefs, boxers and jockstraps. The two colours are natural dyes and are combined perfectly with metallic silver or gold elasticated waistbands and lighter colour design accents.

The new line’s inspiration is expressed through the brand’s new campaign. The concept is spring’s symbolism of renewal and rebirth. The brand’s optimistic attitude goes one step further with the inclusion of their best selling, and restocked, shiny Metallic underwear in this shoot. Model Alexios Charistos was not afraid to get dirty for the needs of this campaign photographed by P2Photography! The photos, we think, are amazing!

cellblock-13-bullet-jockstrapsBite the bullet and get yourself in Cellblock 13’s latest fetish jockstrap with credentials: The Cellblock 13 Bullet Jockstrap has the look and attitude of leather but it’s actually a high-quality coated polyester/spandex fabric that’s durable yet soft and pliable – exactly what you want cradling your boys. But best feature is, unlike leather, this jock is machine washable.

The front is like a streamlined brief with a contouring so you fit in it just right with a contrasting one and one quarter inch vertical sports stripe down the center. Where things get really interesting: the whole front is the leather-look pouch (i.e no elastic waistband). The sturdy Cellblock 13 elastic waistband attaches to each side and runs around to the back ensuring this jock fits like a glove and it looks freakn’ awesome. The full two inch wide waistband consists of three alternating stripes with the iconic Cellblock 13 written dead center across the back and just above the crack of your ass. Finally two black one inch comfort leg straps finish it all off.

Bullet is unique and definitely masculine and comes in your favorite fetish color combinations like black with white, black with red and black with blue, but our very favorite is the military version with it’s army-green pouch and gunpowder-black stripe. Jockstrap Central model Caleb King will show you what Bullet is all about just head over to the JC website for your lesson.”

Hello kinksters,

Today is a Part 1 of a two-part post. I hope your week has been going well, mine has been quite dandy. More things have arrived, and you will hear about them soon. This week, I am painfully excited to share this post. I’ll save you the tl;dr anxiety, and just tell you off the bat: Today’s post is part 1 of 2, reviewing leather gear by “Army of Men” from Australia. Specifically, the Bulldog Harness in Blue, and the Bulldog Cockstrap. We’ll get back to that in a second, but I want to give some context for the elation (if you just want the damn review, skip the next paragraph).

In the past year or so, I have been undergoing a sexual identity reconstruction. For most of my sexually active life. I was under the very wrong impression that anything beyond the world of vanilla was “other” and “weird”. Thankfully, I have encountered some incredible people who have helped me reexamine the boundaries of my sexuality and discover more about myself than I could have on my own. To a very special trio (whom I will humorously discreetly name the “Vermont Glitch-mob”), I want to give them my love and thanks. One of the things I wholeheartedly accept into my life now is my total kinked out feelings about leather. I am a professional seamster, and sew leather pretty regularly, because I make special boots for trapeze artists. I love the feel of leather, I love its texture, and shine. Now, I can also totally say, a stud in leather (including myself) gets me going. When I knew I was going to be re-structuring Fetish Friday into a weekly column, I started connecting with companies all over the world, and the owner of Army of Men responded very enthusiastically, and here we are.

ARMY of MEN Banner

Derrick, owner of Army of Men, responded to me when I began researching companies and products to discuss on my Fetish Fridays. He was super generous with info about his company, and products, and helped me with my selection. After bouncing back and forth with him, we selected the Bulldog Harness in Blue, the Bulldog Cockstrap, and the Leather Jock Base in Blue, with a Chevron Codpiece (you guessed it, in Blue). Everything is made to order, because Derrick makes each piece to fit your measurements. Today, I’m going to discuss the Harness and Cockstrap.

I have a X shaped harness in Neoprene, but this was going to be my first real leather harness, and I was really excited to get the Bulldog harness. As a pretty chesty guy (read: professional aerialist), the Bulldog harness draws focus to my broad shoulders, and chest. Derrick himself makes everything, and builds harnesses with a three snap amount of “ease” so you can snap the straps one step tighter or looser than your “baseline” (with the snaps being about an inch apart). When I opened my package from him, the first thing you notice right away, is the quality of leather being used. As I said, I work with leather all the time, and he is clearly choosing very top grade hides. This harness has a triple layer of leather: a doubled outer layer, with a single black leather layer lining the inside against your skin. His rings are quality metal and welded shut. Snaps are strong and sturdy (and custom colored to match the different leather colors and thread he uses).

Bulldog-chest-harness-blue-model-side

Putting the harness on, this harness is magnificent, Blue straps over the shoulders and around the sides of the torso, with a black straps including centered D rings across the front and back. This D ring is for the second item I got which is the Bulldog Cockstrap. This strap snaps onto the D ring in the front of the harness, and reaches down to a ring which goes around your…read the product name again. It comes with two firm rubber rings, but the strap snaps around the D ring up top, and the ring down below, so you can switch it out to a ring of your choice. The Cockstrap also has an adjustable belt buckle to make it shorter or longer. The leather lining makes everything hug your body so sure and warm.

Bulldog-cockstrap-black-model-front

Being a professional seamster who was “raised” by a group of incredible impeccable seamstresses (thank you Jamie and the Temple University Costume Shop), I can tell you that Derrick puts a lot of love and dedication to his leather work. They are pristine, and bold, and strong. His design eye is also innovative, and not just sticking to the basics.

This is just part 1 of the two parter for all the stuff I got. Thanks for tuning in. I think next week, we’ll tackle some of what I received THIS week in the mail, and then we’ll do the 2nd part of Army of Men the week after. If you have a sec, I’d love it if you’d all comment below your own journey with leather, or if you haven’t and want to, let me know. It’d be great to hear from y’all.

Until next time, keep it kinky! TtheAmazing over and out.

CA-RIO-CA Runway Show 2016Hey guys, Undies Rock here back at it with some more updates from the LA underwear scene.  Since I came on board in January, one of my primary roles has been to serve as the LA codependent for local underwear brands.  This is really exciting for me because I get to attend events and meet with designers and owners of brands I love.  Most recently I had the opportunity to meet up with Gil from CA-RIO-CA, who not only is the coolest dude but happens to own a badass swimwear company.  Exiting my recent interview, Gil invited me to his 2016 runway show.  As fate would have it, I had to schedule a last minute business trip to Europe, which conflicted with the show, but luckily I was able to adjust my flight home to arrive the afternoon of.  I’m not going to lie, it was pretty tough transitioning from 25+ hours of traveling to the LA nightlife, but damn, I’m sure glad I powered through the jet-lag because the CA-RIO-CA show was KILLER!

This was my first ever runway show, so I had no clue what to expect.  Honestly I thought it was going to be in a medium sized room with less than a hundred critics and media folk, but boy was I wrong. Turns out the show was outside in the courtyard of the Pacific Design Center off of Melrose Drive, during fashion week.  It was everything you would imagine a LA night event would be like. The venue was beautiful – donning palm trees and trendy architecture, the place was packed with stylish people, there where spot lights, a live DJ, expensive booze, a red carpet, and a serious amount of photographers.  Quite simply, this event was ‘super profesh’. Also the runway was substantially larger than I imagined.  It was at least 100ft long and it was surrounded by water, kind of like a moat, to add to the beach/resort vibe.  It felt like walking into a movie set.

The event was supposed to start at 8pm, but in true “just my luck” fashion, my plane landed later than expected. By the time I went from LAX to the show (stopping at Simbal to refuel and reset) we didn’t arrive until 9pm.  I was a little worried at first but we made it just in time for the first swimwear designer’s show, The 8th Continent swimwear by Suzuki Kenso.  Her set lasted for 20 minutes, then there was a 15-20 minute interlude and then the lights dimmed: the Brazilian dance music kicked in, beach balls branded CA-RIO-CA were tossed out into the runway and audience, and the crowd goes wild – the show was ON.  Gil’s brand CA-RIO-CA is notorious for its vast collection of prints and styles.  Dozens of new styles were showcased and as I have mentioned in the past, this collections is a little more dynamic with some vibrant pieces as well as some classic-neutral toned prints.  My favorites has to be the California Sunset print because what can I say, it is truly the best state. The models were particularly entertaining: one guy came out wearing a pair of board shorts, I thought to myself “pass” but as he approached the end of the runway, he pulls the shorts down and revealed a sweet pair of CA-RIO-CA swimmers. Another model came out with a beach cruiser bike which hoisted over his head. The models sported a lot of CA-RIO-CA accessories: jewelry, hats, tanks etc. The show definitely showcased and highlighted the dynamic and well-made brand. The show’s setting could not have been more appropriate for Gil’s aesthetic; it was outdoors, moonlight illuminating the palm trees, amazing weather, and most importantly- great vibes. It was evident that Gil’s goal of achieving a fun-California-summer- vibe was appreciated by the volume of cheers heard.

To end the show, all the models walked out in swim briefs featuring ‘Rio 16’ on the butt. This was Gil’s fun approach at maintaining that Brazilian pride, home of the CA-RIO-CA sunga. Gil came out, total class act, dressed like a normal dude in a black polo shirt and jeans, and waved and bowed to the audience and the show phased out.  Interestingly enough, half of the audience jetted after the CA-RIO-CA show ended; the MC had to ask everyone to stay for the final show. It was clear that CA-RIO-CA was the night’s crowd-pleaser.

One thing I will mention about the CA-RIO-CA models is that they came across as very classy and causal. I like the neutral statement that Gil has with his brand to make straight guys and gay guys feel comfortable with his products.   And man, was it such an eye opener to see how popular cool men’s swimwear is.  All this time you feel like a minority because not that many dudes wear cool swimwear, but to witness such a massive production showcasing a brand I’ve come to love, really shines light on how much momentum the scene is gaining.  I think that a lot of guys, straight and gay, aren’t accustomed to runway shows, but this first experience was quite remarkable and I think everybody can at least appreciate all the hard work that goes into such a production.  Looking forward to the next one!

IMG_9032What would underwear be without great support? Well…. boxers! And I’m sure just about everyone reading this blog is not a big boxers fan. Like underwear we definitely need support. That can some in emotional and financial. This is like pledge week so let’s get the financial out of the way!

As I have said it takes money to run UNB. Over the years we have grown to a certain size that we have to rely on certain things. First is the hosting. We are too big and have our own dedicated server. This helps in traffic and growth. I hear you and you mention the problems we had a few weeks ago. That was an issue with an out dated server and we have since upgraded. Since we have completed the migration we have had no issues. HUZZAH!

Things such as moving servers, new designs to the site, and shoots all take money. We are getting by and cutting costs as we can. We def could use more support to grow and upgrade. If we had just 1/4 of your guys donate $1 a month we would be set! I would offer us more than enough money to do a lot of the things we to venture into! It’s easy to do just go to the UNB Patreon page and donate. You can remain anonymous!

We have redone our reward levels and have created a Slack where people donating over $5 a month get to be in a small focus group with other underwear fans and help us shape the future and get to know your other underwear lovers who support us!

Now, what if you can’t afford to give. We still love you guys too. Trust me I get it being on a super tight budget. If you are in this boat. Join in on our conversations and share our content. Share them on social media and with friend you think would enjoy the site. It’s just as important to share us and read us every day.

We hope you will take some time to support us either way!

We hope you enjoyed part 1 of the Straight Talk. Here is part 2

The Bottom Drawer: It looks like all of us but Steve discovered our skimpier styles more or less on our own originally. His discovery of the skimpy styles started as a joke with a thong purchased for him. It seems to me the so called “man thong” is typically perceived as a joke in society even the bikini could be grouped in there. You see lots of pranks, jokes, and lost bets related to them. Any thoughts on why? And how about ideas on how we can turn the tides?

Underweardude: The bikini is definitely grouped in with the thong. The only time i’ve ever seen it reffered to in pop culture is negatively, often leopard print and worn by a “player”. The most notable instance to me in my mind is how the wearing of such a pair is used to ridicule occasionally the character Quagmire on the tv show Family Guy. I think too many people are caught up on the inherit sexuality of skimpier pairs, believing them to only be fit for male strippers. I also think it has to do with how men and women are portrayed in modern culture. How is it I can go to practically any clothing store in the city and find women’s thongs hanging on racks out in the open for all to see, but not a single guy’s thong?

How to solve it? I’m not really sure. End the stigma, get women interested in seeing men in them, promote them as begin masculine, etc, etc. I’d still say that getting women interested in them. If women are interested in seeing guys in thongs, that will help make them become more accepted.

Steve: I agree 110%!!  Thongs, bikinis, etc have such a stigma to them.  Men think that only gay men wear them.  They also think that women won’t like them.  Well if that were true, there wouldn’t be so many companies making them now.

How do we change this?  I would say that we make it known in locker rooms, to friends, etc, but I am a hypocrite haha.  No one other than my wife knows what I am info.  A couple of my guy friends know I don’t wear boxers any longer…how can anyone anymore with the slim cut jeans now….but none of them know about my “skimpy” types.  Nor do they know that I have 150+ pairs.

This is the same as why guys don’t wear swim briefs.  Saying they are not socially acceptable.

Ron: Steve. Some good observations there. Thankfully I’ve always managed to repeal the boxers fad across here and men are mostly into the tight fitting trunks which is better.

I’m quite open at the gym about my bikini style underwear and have been introducing briefer swim bikinis and never had an issue with either so far. Though I guess being ‘older’ most guys of my age will remember wearing speedos and the younger guys will just dismiss me a silly ‘old’ guy in speedos!  I can’t quite compete with the number of skimpy bikinis you have though. My swim bikinis number around 10 I guess with a couple of things thrown in in addition but for underwear I guess I have about 20 or so and a smaller number of trunks to keep my wife happy; well since she wears tiny thongs and gs partly for me but also because she likes them!

Some women I know scorn at the idea that I wear speedos and a female friend of my sister even announced it publicly at a ‘party’ she was having in her house. Care I? Not at all. My sister also asks when we return from holiday’ was he(me) still wearing those speedos?’

The Bottom Drawer: It is very rare to see a guy portrayed in something other than boxers, boxer briefs, or briefs in pretty much any mass media that isn’t making a joke of it. I’ve seen a few places that I do not believe the bikini was portrayed as a joke for the most part, but there are a lot more instance out there where the thong and bikini are portrayed negatively for guys. Of course it gets the laughs that they were going for. I agree it has to come down to what is ingrained in our culture, which makes it a harder road to change people’s minds.

Definitely not something we can solve overnight. Steve, I agree we should wear and share them proudly, but I’m with you and find it something that I cannot easily do in person. Hence why I blog about it instead. Yes Sam, getting the ladies to like guys to wear them would be a great thing, which is probably more in the court of the manufacturers and retailers to change up their advertising, which leads into the next question I have.

What changes would you like to see in men’s underwear advertising?

Underweardude: The changes depend on whether or not you mean mass market undie advertising, or specialty brand undie advertising.

Mass market: more types of pairs, etc.

Specialty: Perhaps marketed more like cigarettes, beer, food, and other stuff marketed to men. Show an attractive woman interested in a man holding/wearing your product, and men will buy it.

The Bottom Drawer: Both I guess would be good to cover. My mindset is more specialty, since that is my preference and would like to see them be mass marketed. I’m in agreement that a woman in ads would help the straight guy consider the underwear being advertised. Think it would help with the stigma that guys only wear the select few standard kinds that are mass marketed. A little off topic of men’s underwear, but related to advertising. I don’t know if any of you have seen some of the recent Victoria’s Secret catalogs, but they seemed like they were marketing more towards men. My wife commented on some of the shots being some thing for Playboy (The one she pointed out was a close up of a model’s butt in one of their cheekie panties). They had several full page photos of the models in more seductive poses. I don’t know if women are more open minded or can see themselves in those situation with their man or what. Probably not marketing that would work for men’s underwear.

Ron: For me it’s down to what happens on the catwalk. If designers and those who ‘police’ what the mass market wear were to suggest or start displaying skimpier underwear as the way ahead then their popularity would rise with exposure in the media. Famous faces modelling would also inspire a mindset change; if David Beckham or whoever wears skimpy underwear then their devotees would catch on and it would become fashionable. The fashion police keep telling us with a sneer that ‘budgie smugglers’ etc are wrong and for ridiculing so the proletariat out there follow suit. With the olympics rapidly approaching you can bet that in e diving pool the guys will be wearing relatively skimpy speedos and not  derogatory word will be said by commentators as the skimpy swimsuit is a tool of their trade. I still remember such sporting events of bygone days when men’s swimsuits were very brief to say the least. In the uk the joke underwear for men is the Y front brief which is usually associated with a much older generation but is the butt of jokes. It’s going to be long haul but we can be pioneers. If you can just get that confidence to strip off in the gym or wherever and reveal skimpy bikinis or thongs en it’s a start. I mean, there are so many web sites selling them that someone must be buying them and wearing them!
As regards Victoria’s Secret, I think our only uk store is at Heathrow airport in London however I’ve visited their stores in Houston and Lafayette while on business and found the sales girls extremely helpful. My wife certainly loves their thongs.
