Baskit is a brand of underwear that has been around for a little while, and has really taken their undies to a new level as of lately. When I first tried Baskit, they were your pretty standard men’s underwear company. Their collections were your stereotypical basic colors, and cuts. How things have changed.  If you haven’t checked out some of the new styles and cuts from Bakit, you are missing out. Baskit has taken their collections to a whole new level.

One of the new collections that Baskit has launched is its Fine Line’s Collection. With this collection, you can tell that Baskit is starting to push the limits of their collections. In Baskit’s Fine Lines collection you will find a mix of Briefs, Thongs, Square Cuts, and trunks, in White and Indigo. This whole collection is made of a silkier fabric with thin (fine) mesh strips. They are very attractive, and very sexy.

I received the Baskit Fine Lines brief in a size medium and indigo in color.  The sizing was perfect for my 32” waist. The waist band is very traditional. It is white with a gray band and features the Basket logo all the way around. But drop below the waistband and these undies are anything but typical.

This pair of undies is made out of 90% Nylon and 10% Spandex giving them a silky soft feeling that stretches and moves with you. They also feature a decent size pouch that I found to have plenty of room and supported everything just fine. The leg openings are decent in size, and stretch to fit and not ride up.  The patter is something that you just need to see.  It is very sexy looking, in that it has these mesh vertical strips that run all the way around the brief. They are reveling, without being to reveling.

The one thing that I didn’t like about these undies is the care tag on the back.  If you have read any of my past reviews, you will know I am not a big fan of a care tag in the back to begin with, but this tag seemed to bother me more than others. These undies are some soft and light weight, and then you add a tag that to some could ruin the experience.

I haven’t gotten to try Baskit in a year or so, but I am very pleased with how far they have come, and am very excited to see where they plan to go. Overall, I really liked these briefs. They are a great mix of sexy and functional, which is hard to find.

You can see the entire Fine Lines collection from Baskit online. I encourage you to check out some of the other styles that Baskit has come out with over the last couple of years as well.  These briefs will run you about $16 USD online and come in both Indigo and white. Baskit provided me with these undies to review.

I love it when underwear brand take something that has the whole world bussing and makes an underwear collection around it. One of my favorite brands is Gigo. If you have never tried them, I highly recommend them. They not only fit great, but they have some of the most fun patterns, colors, and fabric combinations of any brand that I know.

This summer the world was engrossed with everything soccer as the World Cup took over our TV and internet connections. Gigo took all the excitement that is World Cup and turned it into some fun undies. What I like best about the World Cup special edition collection is that it allows you to support your favorite team while supporting, well, you know, your soccer balls.

I received the World Cup style in a size medium. They are a pretty traditional trunk cut undies with a black waistband with a gray Gigo logo and a soccer ball print. The one thing that I really liked about this pair of Gigo, is that it was a more traditional cotton fabric.  The other pairs of Gigo that I have had, have all been a synthetic, which I like, but it was nice to try a more traditional fabric. The fabric is very soft and has a great feel to it.

If you have never tried Gigo, one thing you will want to keep in mind is that they run a little small. So, if you are one of those guys that sit on the border of the size chart, I would go with the bigger size. Gigo is known to be a tighter fitting brand, but that is one thing that I love.  These Gigo provided a great pouch so even though they fit tighter, there is still plenty of room for your “soccer balls.”

I have worn these running and for everyday wear, and they are great for both.  One thing that I did notice is after a few washes the black on the soccer ball patterned fabric has faded, which is something that didn’t happen with my other pair of Gigo.

Overall I really liked this pair of Gigo. They are fun and sporty, comfy and well constructed; all great qualities that I look for in a great pair of undies.

You can see these and the entire World Cup collection on the Gigo website, but if you want to get your hand on a pair you will need to check out a site like Underwear Station. These boxer cuts will cost you around $28 USD. This pattern also comes in a g-string and a jockstrap cut as well.  Underwear Station provided me with these undies to review.

Gigo is one of my favorite underwear brands.  They do a lot of fun and funky things when it comes to men’s underwear. They have a great selection of colors, patterns, and cuts, that will satisfy any guys underwear taste. For traditional cut and conservative colors, to wild and crazy cut and patterns, Gigo is one of the most versatile underwear companies out there today!

I know I was cheering for the USA this year when the World Cup took over our world this summer. But no matter what team you were cheering for, Gigo made a pair of undies for you.  This summer Gigo introduced a special edition collection in honor of the World Cup.  They had a pair of undies for all the major teams, including Canada, England, Argentina, Brasil, USA, Mexico, Netherland, France, Itally and Germany.  So no matter what corner of the globe you were cheering from, there was a pair of undies to match.

Even though I was cheering for the USA, I was really intrigued with the Dark Blue England Boxers.  They just caught my eye and I just had to get my hand on a pair. Lucky for me, I have connections!!

I received the Gigo Dark Blue England boxers in a size medium. They have a navy blue waistband with a gray Gigo logo which looks great peeking over the waistband of your shorts or jeans. The undies are made out of a cotton/spandex blend, which is pretty standard in underwear. It is the right amount of cotton to make the undies feel well constructed, but that little extra spandex allows the undies to move. The fabric is a dark navy blue. On the left side of these undies, Gigo has screen printed a modern looking England flag. It starts just left of the pouch and continues around the back. It really does look amazing, and the contrast between the navy and the White and Red flag is awesome.

I was very excited to try these one. Gigo is known for fitting a little on the small side, so if you decided to get a pair for yourself, check the size chart, and if you aren’t sure, go to the next size bigger. The pouch was pretty standard and fit great. There was plenty of room and I didn’t feel cramped or squished. The waistband is also very comfortable. The care tag on the back of the waistband was kind of annoying though. The only thing I didn’t like about this pair of Gigo, is that the fabric is meant to stretch, however, since the left side is screen printed all the way around, the screen printing didn’t allow the fabric to stretch naturally. So the leg opening on the screen printed side, felt tighter then the other side. It didn’t bother me enough where I couldn’t wear them, but it did take some time to get used to.

Overall I liked these Gigo, like the rest of the Gigo I own. I think there are a few things that could have been thought out a little better, but  nothing that would discourage me from buying Gigo again!

Andrew Christian.  Comfortable…for sure, mainstream…almost, good underwear…definitely.  All of my AC pairs have a feel that can’t be matched by other brands.  They have a silky smooth feel and are always a boost in the day.  Couple that with good colors and you’ve got yourself a winner in the underwear drawer.  Length is something of an issue these days too and boxers with a reasonable length are a plus.

I actually put these FlexSoft boxers through quite the test of class and a pretty intense workout.  They held up pretty dang well.  I will say I’m not a fan of the pouch technology.  It’s not a strike against them, but something I don’t like industry wide.  That being said, this is still good underwear and the pouch isn’t something that you have to take advantage of.  If you do like pouches, however, then you’ll love the Show-It feature offered by Andrew Christian.  All said and done, this pair can handle a full day with a little bunching here and there, but it’s not unexpected.

The parts of this underwear shed a little light on its good feeling.  The material would be Rayon…93% of it to be exact.  The other 7% is a comfy stretch, thanks to spandex.  Those materials make up an awesome pair of underwear with two great color schemes.   It’s a must have.  If you want that almost mainstream look with that amazing feel, the FlexSoft Boxer is the pair for you.

Jocks are always a style that many guys find hot. They can be used for both form and function. I was researching how jocks were invented and remembered that Jockstrap Central has a history of jocks. There were two stories on how they were invented, the first is a Finnish athlete invented them. The second and more probable one is the Bike company invented them in 1874. Either way we are glad they were invented.

Today’s jocks are really divided into two separate styles, Swimmers or Traditional. Traditional jocks have the 3 inch waistband, where as the simmers have the 1 inch waist band. This is kind of a crude dividing section because in the last few years jocks have really come into the world of underwear and is no longer something you just wear in the locker room. We now have mesh, spandex, colors and new designs.

We are going to profile a few of the traditional and new jocks that are out there today. Jocks are just as diverse as any other underwear style.

  • McKillop U/W No. 1.5 Jock – McKillop has taken the jock to the next level. They have added comfort and function in one. They are perfect for wearing to the gym or just as every day wear. They may look plain but designer Ryan McKillop wanted the jocks he designs to be free from padding and branding. McKillop only makes jocks and pouch (without straps), so their main focus is making the best jock available
  • Bike #10 Jockstrap – This is the classic jock many great up wearing. They were pretty much standard issue for any sports you played in High School or College. They have the 3 inch waistband and pouch made out of nylon. These used to be one of the few jocks and only in the white color. In the 90’s they branched out to black and then to other colors. When most people think of Jocks this is what they think of, but Bike discontinued these in the US and Jockstrap Central is the only place you can get them. Bike changed the design and made them more ergonomically for men. Some have said the newer jocks just don’t fit as well as this pair.
  • Nasty Pig Rubber Jock 2.0 – Jocks have always been part of the fetish world. Its part of the masculinity and also the design. Jocks have a full pouch and an open seat. Nasty Pig has done some interesting things with jocks. The one we are profiling is the rubber jock. It’s yellow with a black racing stripe on the pouch, and the pouch is made out of rubber. This jock is definitely made for showing rather then hiding under clothes. They have made this jock in many colors and continue to make better with each version.
  • Zakk Leopard Spandex Jock – The last Jock we are covering is one that is pretty wild. Animal prints are becoming very popular in men’s underwear. More and more companies are doing it. This pair is a swimmer jock with the 1 inch waistband, with a spandex pouch with a really cool leopard print. Its not one you would wear to the gym, but would definitely be more of a date night pair or something you could possibly wear under a suit to break up the conservative clothing with something sexy.

Jocks don’t have to be just for sports. More and more guys are wearing them for every day wear or at least a few times a week. If you have not ever tried one, then now is the time to get one. They can be a fun pair to wear under your suit or just to mix up your underwear pairs. Remember always try to step outside of your underwear box and try new pairs.

I want to thank Jockstrap Central for the pics in this post!

The video above is from an Australian company called teamm8. They have been known for their, lack of a better word, provocative ads. They are sexy but not cheesy. This ad is very cutting edge for underwear ads.  This ad got me thinking how amazing it is to see how different countries advertise men’s underwear.

Australia and Europe go a bit more sexy and push the envelope. The prime example of that is AussieBum. They have done awesome work with video. Many of them you have seen here on UNB. They really aren’t afraid of playing on the sex appeal of underwear. Which when you think about it, we all want to feel sexy in undies, whether we are at the office, hanging at home or running errands.

AussieBum pushed the limits with its famous bus shelter ad. It’s a Life saver in the surf with his suit around his neck. Which means he’s naked and you see his bare butt in the ad. It got a lot of talk last year when it came out, and really got them noticed on the world scene.

Let’s now shift to America. I think for the most part we are still very scared of advertising underwear to the general public. For the general public, until just recently, they never showed the underwear on a person. They either held it up or showed it on a manniquine. Even now the underwear ads focus on people rather then the underwear. The only place where this is not true is in marketing to the gay market.

If you look at many of the gay publications, and I”m not talking porn, you will see many ads that show the undies and are pretty awesome! I’m talking about Instinct, Out and other magazines like that. Brands that I have seen have been 2xist, Baskit, and a few more. But still its not something that is marketed to the public.

The one company in the States that is pushing the boundaries is Calvin Klein. They started back in the 80’s with advertising that shows the underwear on models. The model was Tom Hintnaus and it caused quite a stir when it was released. This was the first time men’s underwear ads were sexy This ad even made entertainment and news shows. Its funny to think now that an underwear ad would cause such a stir, which by today’s standards is pretty tame. Then they went on and got celebrities and turned a host of unknown models into starts. Some of their models included Marky Mark Wahlberg, Antonio Sabato Jr., and more.

Even today CK is doing some of most edgy main stream advertising in the US. They have done billboards in Times Square in NYC. The picture is one I took back in 2006 in NYC, and being from Atlanta, we would never see pictures such as that here. Outside of LA, Chicago and NYC the rest of the country remains pretty puritanical. If you look at the current videos for the CK X line, they are still pushing the boundaries for underwear in the US. They have done an online video campaign that was really well done.

Underwear advertising in the States still has a long way to come from the rest of the world. I think we are moving in the right direction, but still have a way to go. I have a few questions for you guys, and feel free to answer here or on the facebook page:

  • Who is doing the best underwear advertising worldwide?
  • Who is pushing the boundaries of advertising?
  • Has anyone gone too far?
  • Who do you think could do a better job of advertising?

I look forward to hearing some answers.

Those crazy guys at Joe Snyder are at it again – they’ve combined a slinky jock with a spider web of strings both front and back that’s completely unique and ultra-sexy.

From the front, a narrow nylon/spandex pouch of either black or white in solid or mesh is caught in a web of elastic strings. From the back, jockstrap strings travel around each check while another splits them down the center. To finish it all off, horizontal strings connect them all together for a stunning spider web effect.

This jockstrap has a narrow pouch and although the fabric will stretch a bit, it’s perfect for those guys who hate to swim in their pouches.”
