BEAU: Welcome back UNB readers! I’m Beau Briefs, your virtual host of UNB’s Pouch Couch. As I mentioned last week we are joined now by UnderwearDude on the Pouch Couch. So pull up a cushion and get comfy as we dive into UnderwearDude’s Pouch Couch thoughts!

BEAU: What is the most important thing you look for in a pouch?

UD: If I’m just looking at a pair, and have yet to try it on, I mainly go for looks. It has to look good. Some pairs use color patterns that just makes their pouches look horrible in my eyes.

BEAU: What defines the perfect pouch in your mind?

UD: Comfortable to wear, not too big but with enough room to grow, yet good looking as well.

BEAU: Do aesthetics play a role in picking out a pair/pouch?
UD: Yes, they can. Even if a pouch doesn’t feel uncomfortable, if I don’t like the look of it, I won’t wear it. If the pouch was truly amazingly comfortable but ugly, that’s a different story.

BEAU: What are some examples of great pouches and which brands?

UD: I quite like N2N Bodywear and Ergowear pouches. Cocksox pouches are pretty good too, but sometimes they are a little too big and make me feel like I look like I’ve got some sort of bird’s beak hanging off of me.
BEAU: Do you want structure or flexibility?
UD: I like a mixture of both. I like being held in place, but I don’t want to be constricted either.
BEAU: Have your pouch preferences changed at all over time?

UD: A little. I used to be more wary of pairs with big pouches, for fear that they would make for embarrassing bugles under clothing. I haven’t found that to be the case.

BEAU: Any “just for fun pairs” that you’ll admit to us?

UD: I own a pair by Pikante from their Castro line that is less a pouch than a sleeve. It’s neat looking, and somewhat comfortable, but I’m not sure it’s really suited for daily wear at all.

UD: Oh, one more thing:

I hate pouches that don’t have “room to grow”, so to speak. Contoured or not, ergonomic or not, if the pouch can’t handle you and still look good doing it that bothers me.

BEAU: Thanks for joining UnderwearDude! Week 2 and we’re already seeing different viewpoints and Pouch Couch preferences. We’re all very lucky to be in a time where underwear that’s available actually is as widely varied as we’d like and more accessible than ever! Don’t forget to Tweet or favorite anything that you see and read on UNB. Most of our writers (myself included) can be found on different social media sites so engage with us and stay tuned next week when we talk with T Lawrence about what fills his Pouch preference list.

lettingit goPart 2A couple of weeks ago I wrote about the struggle I was having with getting rid of undies that I no longer wear.  I had gotten as far as sorting out the ones I wanted to keep and those I needed to toss.  That was it.  I just couldn’t do it.

Fast forward to tonight and I’ve actually made some progress.  I managed to get rid of about 50 pairs.  Gave them to two fellow underwear lovers who are a little but younger than I am  (damn millennials) and don’t have as much disposable income to buy all the underwear they’d like.  I consider it a charitable donation.   Too bad I can’t right that off on my taxes.

This purging of my collection gave me the chance to take an inventory of what I have.  I thought the amount that I got rid would make a sizable dent and free up googobs of drawer space; I seem to be wrong.  Today’s underwear count is as follows: 39 thongs, 40 jocks, 45 bikinis, 53 briefs.  177 pairs of underwear.

Add in the days where I go commando and I could go over 6 months without wearing the same pair.  That’s just cray-cray.  No one needs that much underwear.  But I guarantee you that in the not too distant future I will get the itch and find something new to buy.  Damn underwear sales.  They get me every time.  Besides, can you really have too much underwear?

IMG_7126So I recently decided that it was time to scale back my underwear collection.  Gasp, yes I actually said that out loud.  Not to say I have a problem getting rid of them, but I do have a few pairs that I graduated from college with me a couple of decades ago.  The thing is, my tastes in underwear have evolved over the years.  I used to wear strictly briefs.  That was my thing.  I gradually added a few jocks here or there but only wore them for “special occasions”.  That worked for me for years and years.

Then I started to branch out and tried some skimpier bikinis.  What had I been missing all that time?  I was hooked.  So all those briefs went into hiding in my dresser and storage box in the closet.  In the last two years I have really started to enjoy wearing thongs as well.  So my beloved briefs began to gather dust.  About a year ago I decided it was time to purge the collection of the ones that I never wear anymore.  Some just didn’t float my boat anymore, others don’t fit as well (damn this aging thing).

I had a moment of silence as I began to sort through them, the pile of unwanted undies growing ever larger.  Was I really about to throw out so many pairs that had stood the test of time?  I had a hamper full of underwear to go through.  In the end they all went right back where they came from in the dresser and storage boxes.   The best laid plans and all that jazz went right out the window.

Fast forward a year.  I’m moving into a new home soon and have been purging all sorts of things from my current home.  Things that have been in closets since I moved here 4 years ago.  So it only seems natural that I revisit the idea of slimming down my underwear collection.  Realistically, I probably wear about a fourth  of them regularly.

Again I find myself in a dilemma.  What do I do?  I’ve gotten as far as separating the ones I know I want to keep and the ones that no longer fit.  There’s an entire drawer full of underwear that I should part with but am still on the fence about.  Every day I pull a pair or two out and either put it in the keep pile or throw it in the to-go box.  Every time I put another pair in that box I feel a little sad.  It’s like I’m saying goodbye to long time friends.  But hey, I’ve made lots of new “friends” lately and, since I clearly have an obsession, will be making plenty more in the future.  Out with the old and in with the new.   There’s got to be a therapy group for this somewhere.

PM2-13-5-EditEveryone who knows me well knows I love underwear.  I have drawers full of briefs, bikinis and jocks.  Up until this year I only had a handful of thongs.  I’ve always had a couple in my collection, but rarely wore them.  At the encouragement of a few underwear buddies, I decided to give wearing thongs regularly a try.  Much to my surprise, I am now a thong lover!  I have bought several more and have added thongs into my regular rotation.

I posed a few questions on twitter to some fellow thong wearers, just to find out more about why others wear them.  Be sure to follow these guys.

@underloverwear

How long have you worn thong underwear? – Off and on for almost 8 years.

What got you started wearing them? – I thought they were hot and I was dead curious about them.

Are you shy about being seen in a thong in the gym locker room? – If I was still going to a gym, maybe but probably not.  IF they can show off ugly undies why not my thong?

Favorite thong – Envy

@brockwebsterxxx

How long have you worn thong underwear? – Ever since I was 16.  I’m 42 now.  Been wearing them exclusively as underwear since I was about 22.

What got you started wearing them? – I was a dancer growing up.  In high school I did theater.  My costume for a show was a full bodysuit and I had to wear a dance belt under it for modesty.

Are you shy about being seen in a thong in the gym locker room? – Not usually.  But I don’t parade around in it.

Favorite thong – Right now it’s a toss up between the Joe Snyder thongs and the Gregg Homme thongs.

@muscleinathong

How long have you worn thong underwear? – 15 years

What got you started wearing them? – I’ve always had an underwear fetish.  They became a natural progression in my search for sexy skimpy underwear.  Once I tried one on I never went back

Are you shy about being seen in a thong in the gym locker room? – No.  Not at all.  Beach or pool included.  Tan line gives it all away anyway.

Favorite thong – Muscleskins poser thong.

@thongofduty

How long have you worn thong underwear? – Wore my first thong while I was still in high school, so about 14 years.

What got you started wearing them? – When I was younger I preferred color briefs over white.  Then I discovered bikini underwear.  Then one day I came across an underwear catalog.  I saw thongs, ordered one to try and loved it

Are you shy about being seen in a thong in the gym locker room? – I was at first.  But now I get a thrill out of being seen in a thong.

Favorite thong – For underwear I really like the joe boxer thongs.  For the beach my purple underwear extreme thong is my favorite.

@aaroninidaho

How long have you worn thong underwear? – 3 years

What got you started wearing them? – Saw them at the store and was instantly drawn to the sexiness and knew I had to try them.

Are you shy about being seen in a thong in the gym locker room? – If I had a gym membership I don’t think I’d have a problem with other guys seeing my undies choice.

Favorite thong – It’s a tie between the JM Skinz and Agacio basic thong.

@nicethongbro

How long have you worn thong underwear? – 5 or 6 years

What got you started wearing them? – I lost a lot of weight and wanted to wear jeans that showed off my now much slimmer ass.  Boxerbriefs weren’t going to cut it.

Are you shy about being seen in a thong in the gym locker room? – I don’t go to the gym so it hasn’t come up.  I’m not sure how I’d handle it.

Favorite thong – Papi microfiber; no chaffing, total comfort.

@bostonmo

How long have you worn thong underwear? – I have worn them since I was 16ish.   Picked up a men’s thong at H&M, who used to carry a few of them as basics.

What got you started wearing them? -Honestly I think I saw a picture on the web and it sparked my interest.  I became oddly fascinated by the idea.

Are you shy about being seen in a thong in the gym locker room? – Not shy.  I don’t parade around in them or use the sink as I might in briefs, but I’m not terribly concerned that someone will see.

Favorite thong – N2N classic cotton G.  Single layer so they are great for Summer.

1I’ve been an avid fan of underwear for way too many years.  I see new styles I like, new colors or patterns, or just a new version of an old favorite and I simply have to have it.  I wait until I can find it on sale (I do have bills to pay, you know) and then I strike.  There’s usually a package in the mail containing a pair or two at least twice a month.  So it’s no wonder that my collection has outgrown the space I’ve designated to store them in.  I have two drawers in my dresser where I keep the ones that I wear on a regular basis.  Two other storage containers in the closet keep the ones that I don’t wear but simply can’t bear to part with.  Is it time for an intervention?  Some might think so, but I don’t think I’m quite at hoarder status yet.  Not quite, but close.

I recently decided it was time to  do some organizing. Usually when i do the laundry I just throw all my underwear into  one of the two designated drawers.  So every morning when I am getting dressed I spend a good amount of time rummaging, digging through the pile to see what strikes my fancy for the day.  This is what one of the drawers looks like on any given day.

I painstakingly took them all out of the drawer and laid them out on the bed.  Separated them by brand and style.   If I had the space I would have just left them there, they looked so nice.

2I posed the question on twitter, asking my followers how they managed their underwear.  Here are some of their responses.

@Sergio_Trentin Jan 22 : Usually I roll up all my underwear and I place in a fine Ikea boxes for briefs or boxers.

@BikinisNThongs : By style. Thongs, bikinis, jocks, etc. are all in their own drawers.
separate drawers for style, but just tossed in one big messy pile in each drawer.
My organization works because I typically know what style I want to wear that day based on mood, etc. Then I just reach in a drawer and get a surprise. Its very rare that I’m looking for a very specific pair.   I have considered keeping another drawer for my most favorites….those that I like to wear for special occasions.  But then I feel like they would be excluded from the normal rotation.

@undiescanuck : By style, then alphabetical by brand 🙂

I decided to go with rolling up the underwear.  It seemed like a good way to get the sorted and hopefully keep them that way.  And much easier than trying to fold them.  This is what I ended up with.

So far it seems to have worked.  They are three deep down in the drawer, with the ones that I wear most often from each brand at the top.  Easy to get to the other ones should I decide I want to wear something a little different.  Now here is the next problem.  This is only one drawer.  I still have another drawer to do.  Should I do the same thing or something different?  And what about all those pairs in the close that I don’t wear at all?  Does it ever end?  Let’s hope not!  =)

998569_559739000749507_1802481688_nTalk about a fun pair of underwear.  2wink is one of the newest brands to come from Down Under.  Bright colors and body hugging styles are the hallmark of their collection.  As soon as I took them out of the package I was excited to try them on.  The fabric felt amazing in my fingers, so I knew I would love wearing them.

I wore them to work one day under my suit.  Just a typical day of sitting at my desk with the occasional stroll around the office to stretch my legs. The pouch has an opening to put everything through, and it definitely makes a statement.  I couldn’t help but wonder if I was giving amore prominent bulge than usual. I love a good pair of underwear that keeps everything pushed slightly forward.  So much more comfortable to me.  The rear straps did a superb job of keeping my rear lifted and needed very little adjustment throughout the day.

The styling on this brief is wonderful.  The waistband has the 2wink logo in red on black, so it’s eye catching without being too in your face.  The black piping on the legs and framing the pouch give you nice clean lines.  And the graffiti pouch.  What a creative look.  Anyone who sees it is going to want a closer look.  I got them in a size medium; they fit me perfectly (I have a 31” waist).

I would definitely recommend this pair of underwear to anyone who wants to spice up their collection.

Pros:

  • great support, front and back
  • eye-catching pattern
  • cotton/spandex blend feels great on the skin

Cons:

  • would love to see them in more graffiti patterns

Ratings:

  • Daily Fit – 10
  • Sizing – 10
  • Construction/Materials – 10
  • Styling – 10
  • Daily Performance  – 10

Yes I know, Pool season is over.  For many of us, it’s time to bundle up and brave chilly weather as we go about our daily activities.  But that also means it’s time to start shopping for swimsuits to wear next Spring.  I personally love buying swimwear at this time of year; you can find some great deals.  One of the hottest brands to hit the market in the last few years is Orca Blu Beachwear.  Offering suits in vibrant colors and patterns, this Florida based company is ready to  help you make a statement at the pool and beach.

I received a one of their signature bikini swimsuits to review.  Since it’s too cool to lay out anymore, I decided to wear it to the pool at a local gym to get some laps in.  I got a few inquisitive looks in the locker room and as I entered the pool area, as I was certainly not wearing the typical suit you see guys swimming laps in.  I swam a quick 800 meters (and by quick I mean I was trying to keep the ladies in the next lane who had just finished doing aquarobics  from passing me).   The suit felt comfortable and secure the whole time.  I can’t wait to wear it in warmer weather in the sun; perfect reason for me to schedule a much needed vacation to someplace tropical.

Multi-colored and definitely eye-catching, this suit will make you a hit at the local watering holes.    With a full seat and wider sides, it’s a great suit for the guy that is used to wearing more of a trunk style but wants to branch out into speedo cut suits.  The waistband is a a solid color that offsets the pattern of the suit well, and the seams are barely noticeable.    There is no drawstring, so I’d use caution when diving into a pool.  The suit I received is a small, which fit my 31” waist perfectly and gave me enough room in the seat and the pouch.

Pros:

  • great support
  • bright colors and patterns
  • polyester/lycra blend feels great

Cons:

  • no drawstring

Ratings:

  • Daily Fit – 8
  • Sizing – 10
  • Construction/Materials – 10
  • Styling – 10
  • Daily Performance  – 8

1120-Impulse-Ambiance-1Gregg Homme.   The tag line on their website, “Outrageous Underwear”, says it all.  And the new Impulse line is true to form.  Made from a stretch leather-look hybrid fabric, this line is sure to draw some attention every time you wear it!

This collection has something for everyone.  For the more daring types, there’s the jock, string, and thong.  Precision laser cut holes on the pouch show just enough skin underneath to make them all blazing hot.   There’s also the boxer brief for those who are ever so slightly more modest but still want a little flair.   The t-shirt and muscle shirt are both V neck and fit like a second skin.  And then there’s the Impulse Top.  Part harness, part shirt…it’s the best of both worlds.   The Gregg Homme rubber brand logo is prominently displayed on all of them.

About the line:

688904-605-fI wear jocks regularly.  I am definitely not one of those guys that wears them just for athletic activities.  So I was eager to try out this one from Papi. I love the briefs I have by them, and knew the jock would be a great addition to my ever growing underwear collection.  Created in Miami for the guy that likes a little flair, Papi always produces some great styles and patterns.  The Pride collection has a rainbow colored waistband that shows your pride.

I wore this jock on a pretty average work day for me.  A quick stop at Starbucks to get my morning fix and then off to the office for 8 hours of fun.  Sitting at my desk with the occasional lap around the office to stretch my legs.  Exciting, right?  Throughout my day, I loved the way this jock felt in the front.  Papi underwear does a great job of supporting without flattening things out, and this jock held true to form in this aspect.  I did feel that the support straps in the back felt a little looser than I am used to.   Had to give them a tug a couple of times for adjustment.

The Pride Jock is available in black and red.  In a size medium, the colorful waistband was a good fit on my 31” waist.  Their size chart says a medium is for 32 to 34 inch waists, which may explain why the straps felt a little loose for me.  I feel like for those of us with the awkward waist size of 31” (really, who carries a 31 in anything these days?) a small might be a better overall fit.

Pros:

  • great support
  • bright colored waistband
  • polyester/spandex blend feels great

Cons:

  • leg straps felt a little loose

Ratings:

  • Daily Fit – 8
  • Sizing – 8
  • Construction/Materials – 10
  • Styling – 10
  • Daily Performance  – 8
  • Overall: 8.8

XXX BJH_6315By @billiesoniq

My story starts in a small town just outside Seattle, back in 1990. I had just moved to a new town, starting a new school. There isn’t much to say about this backstory – my mother started a new career, and I was the last child still young enough to live at home.   As a single mother, she felt it necessary to get me exposed to as much ‘guy stuff’ as possible. This meant that I was supposed to at least ‘try’ sports, boy scouts – anything and everything that would supplement her idea of what I was missing without a father figure in the picture.

Up to this point, I thought it was torture. I didn’t want to go out for sports, I didn’t want to chase after a ball, or learn to light a fire with steel wool and a rock. I wanted to read books, write stories, and learn about these new computers that the last few schools I had attended now had. That was, until Joe Joe came along.

Soon after we moved to this little no-name town, my mother befriended one of the local neighbors. He was an athletic man, about 28, with a permanent tan. He choose a bicycle as his only means of transportation. At the time, he played it off as a way to keep fit; adulthood now leads me to believe that he had no other options at the time. Regardless, I was immediately drawn to him. He was a guy’s guy. He swore without regret, and went shirtless to the grocery store. To me, he was the exacting idea of what a real male should be.

Which leads me to my first inkling of interest in men’s underwear. At one point in the summer prior to my first year at my new school, my mother and I were invited to a local swimming hole by Joe Joe and two of his buddies. We packed up our swimming clothes, hopped in the car, and Joe Joe lead the way to a secluded lake, about 15 miles away. After a quick unloading of the vehicle, mother and a few girlfriends met up and started to drift towards a cabin. Confused, I started to follow. No one had told me what was going on. Joe Joe, noticing my confusion, called me over. I remember this part pretty much like it was yesterday. He tousled my hair, pointed to another cabin, and said, “Hey little man. The men’s cabin in that way. You’re a guy, you come with us.”   Honestly, this was the one of the first times I was included as ‘one of the guys’. Not willing to miss this opportunity, I followed the other guys, and Joe Joe, into the small cabin.

Once I was there, I was unsure what to expect, and certainly not expecting what I saw. I walked in, and there were at least 6 guys, all different ages and sizes, in varied states of undress. Obviously, seeing a bunch of guys in that state was rather embarrassing for a 10 year old, especially since my brothers and father were not really around for me to be accustomed to that.

I started to stammer. I didn’t know how I was supposed to react, and Joe Joe, who had now become sensitive to my confusion on this whole situation, reacted in probably the most constructive way any father figure could have ever done. He pulled me aside, and simply laid it all out for me. His words, as best I can remember, were simple, and flat out honest. “Billie, here’s the thing. Guys change in front of each other. Everyone looks, and everyone has the same junk. Don’t be shy, don’t stare, and don’t worry if people peek at you. It’s all out of curiosity, and that’s ok.”

At the time, it really helped. I wasn’t really into it for the sexual part, at the time; what really fascinated me about the situation was that all these different guys were all wearing different underwear than me. Until this moment, I had only known of ‘tighty whities’ that my mother had been buying for me to wear.

Older guys were wearing what I came to know as boxers; the teenagers that were there had on briefs, like me, but wait – they were in different colors! How cool was that? It was then that I saw my first bikini brief, colored brief, and even a makeshift boxer-brief. I didn’t know what they were called at the time, of course. I did know, though, that I wanted to see more. I wanted to try more.

Over the next couple months, both goals came to fruition. Between soccer practice, baseball, and physical education in school, I was a casual observer to almost every brand, style and type of underwear available to the 10 to 16 year old age group. I gained a sense of courage from the experience as well. It was that year that I convinced my mother how I was old enough to buy my own underwear. I decided in my mind that this was something special to men, and that as a man, it was up to me to decide what I should wear under my jeans, and what I needed for sports.  It was also the year that I had to find out what a jock strap was, how to wear it, why we needed them, and how attractive they actually were. Believe it or not, Joe Joe was helpful in that area too, since he was the only man in my life that was willing to tell me how things were. With a bit of fear in my mind, but a sense of manliness, I was able to walk over to his house, sit down in his living room, and tell him that school needed me to get a jock, and ask how that worked. Thankfully, he was just as cool as before. He offered to go with me, but in the end, I was able to man up and get one on my own. I even figured out the sizing of the waist and cup, all without help.
After that shopping experience, I was pretty much hooked. By age 16, I had easily 30 favorite pair; I was confident, unashamed, and completely interested in any store that carried variety. Of course, by then, I had also realized the attractiveness that comes from the right guy in the right set of undies, and the appeal and feel of certain styles and brands… but that’s another story for another time.

NOTE: Brief Tales are posts from our staff and readers in what got them into underwear. If you have a story you want to share email us at timothym@underwearnewsbriefs.com and let us feature your story.

unb-staff-picks-thongsWho says men can’t or shouldn’t wear thong underwear?  Not us.  In today’s trendy underwear world, more and more guys are experimenting with thong underwear.  Whether it’s for comfort, to hide lines in tight clothing, or just to try out out something new, the stigma of a man wearing a thong has gone by the wayside.  Here are a few of our staff favorites.  What’s yours?

 X1702-00101 Alex

2(x)ist Sliq Y-back Thong – I don’t always wear thongs, but when I do I wear the 2xist Y-back thong. The masculine combination of the jockstrap and the thong mixed with the soft fabric creates the perfect thong. It is comfortable enough for all day wear without being super distracting.

 PX2-12-A Joe

Picked N2N thongs as his favorite. – I am a big fan of the n2nthongs. Their pouches are well shaped and fit great. I like a nice thick waistband too so it stays put! Plus the fabric is sporty but sexy.

X1002-10001 John

Also picked a thong from 2(x)ist – the Essential Thong. – I will be the first to admit that I haven’t always been a fan of thongs, but I think a lot of guys have a pre-conceived notion around the idea of wearing a thong. To that I say… GET OVER IT!  I have been wearing thongs pretty regularly for the last couple of years.  I can say that their is certainly a time and a place to wear them, and it doesn’t include the gym! They really can be comfortable and can make you feel pretty sexy as well.

My favorite thong is from 2(x)ist. It is their Essential Thong. I have it both Black and White and it looks amazing in both colors. What I like about this thong is that it has a “Y” back to it. I have a few “Y” back thongs and it really is a style that I prefer when I buy a thong.  For me it helps eliminate the “wedgie” feeling that most guys don’t like about wearing them. the fabric is awesome and the pouch fits amazing! I also like the fact that the “thong” piece isn’t real thick and it is rolled cotton which makes it soft and doesn’t make it feel like you have a big bunch of fabric riding up your bum.

thong03black1_2 Tim M.

Picked the Joe Snyder thong. –  I love the Joe Snyder thong.  True to form, it has an ergonomically designed pouch that lifts you.  And the spandex lycra blend is a super sexy fabric that will make any guy feel hot.   And for those adventurous guys it can even double as a bathing suit.

I think my fascination with briefs and the hotties that wear them began when I was 7 or 8 years old.  I remember going to my grandparents house and thumbing through their old Spiegel and Sears catalogs.  And those old Jim Palmer Jockey ads.  Woof!!  Seeing his tight muscular body, the  bulge in those ever so skimpy bikinis; it was the start of a beautiful obsession for me.  I have always worn briefs.  During my youngest days I wore good old fashioned Fruit of the Looms.  Fly front tighty whities.   I wore those and Hanes all through middle and high school.  It wasn’t until my senior year in high school that I dared purchase what I really wanted, some of those striped Jockey Elance that I had drooled over in catalog after catalog.   And I never wore them on days when I had gym class, for fear of what the other boys would say in the locker room.  Most of them wore boxers, which I never understood.  My dad wore those, and they always looked so uncomfortable to me.  Seeing these hot football players and soccer jocks wearing them in the locker room just turned my stomach.  I mean, all those athletic bodies wearing droopy old granny panties.  Yuck yuck yuck!

I currently have over 200 pairs of underwear.  Some I wear, some I don’t.  They include briefs, bikinis, jocks, and even a thong or two.  I have a few pairs of boxer briefs and trunks, though it is the rare occasion that I wear them.  I don’t like the way they tend to ride up on the leg, and much prefer the contour and lines of briefs.  2xist, Calvin Klein, N2N, Obviously and CIN-2 are among the favorite brands I own.  I have several pairs that I have never worn, other than trying them on when I first bought them.   Some don’t fit right, others have different cuts that I am not used to, still others I just don’t like the way the color looks on my skin tone.   But I don’t regret having any of them.

I’ve always thought that the underwear makes the man.  And can set the tone for your day.  One of my biggest decisions each day is what underwear I will wear.  So many things to take into account;  cut, color, what my day’s activities will be.  I rummage through my underwear drawers until something strikes my fancy.  Sometimes there’s even a weekly theme; by brand, by style, by color.

So to all my fellow underwear lovers out there, we’d like to hear from you.  Tell us your story of how you developed a passion for underwear.  It’s your chance to tell the world!

baskit-billy-boy-briefBaskit first introduced their condom pocket brief in 2000.  With it’s return they have teamed up with German condom brand Billy Boy to create a unique and fun pair of underwear.  I am a big fan of Baskit and own several jocks and briefs from them.  They are all so comfortable and I can wear them for any activity.

I wore this pair on a relatively uneventful day for me.  Honestly, other than a quick trip to the grocery store I spent most of a much needed day off laying on the couch watching movies.  Which for me is a perfect way to spend a day off.  I like to be comfortable when I lounge.  Who doesn’t?

I really like the way these underwear feel.  This is a cotton brief that breathes really well.  The pouch is nice and roomy and the full seat covers everything just right.  The Baskit logo is prominently displayed on the waistband.  I received it in a size medium, which was dead on for my 31” waist.  Sizing is standard US sizing, so if you order true to size you will get a great fit.  The Billy Boy line is available in a brief, low-rise trunk, and boxer briefs in three vibrant colors;  red, green, and blue.

Now, for the signature condom pocket.  At first I was a little apprehensive about it.  Kept thinking to myself the I would look like one of those guys with a little circle imprint on his butt letting everyone know he is carrying a condom.  No worries there though.  The cotton brief does a great job of disguising what is in the pocket.  If it weren’t for the stitching on the pocket on the outside of the brief, anyone who saw you in them would never know it was there.  Until that pivotal moment in the night, and then voila!   You are all set.

This is a great brief for the guy that prefers a more traditional cotton brief with just a hint of flair.

Summer is officially here.  Which means pool parties and trips to the beach.  Fun in the sun for everyone!  We asked the staff at UNB what they are wearing this season.  From board shorts to the skimpiest of speedos, here’s what the guys will be laying out and swimming in.
Diesel Coralrif nylon shortsAlex  – Diesel Caralrif Nylon Swim Shorts – : I normally don’t wear much swimwear in the summer for the beach but really like this pair from Diesel. The vintage cut give enough away while still leaving something to the imagination. They would be perfect for the hanging around with straight  friends and skimpy enough for the gay gatherings too 🙂

Timoteo speedsterJeff – Timoteo Speedster –  He loves the classic, retro style, the sexy, fitted look, and the bright, fun colors.

vuthy swim

UNBLJ – Vuthy Royal Plaid – He  is wearing this hot bikini this summer.  Why?  In his words: It fits my ample butt and makes it look good!

N2N-Stratum-Collection1Tim aka UNBTim – N2N Stratum – .  It’s part of the new N2N collection and fits great! I love the classic N2N pouch built in the pair. It’s not too skimpy but it is a little lower cut in front. It’s been very fun to wear to the pool and after getting back into swim shape I am glad I can wear great and fun swim wear again.

Sauvage Racing BriefUNBAtlBriefs – Sauvage Racing Brief –  He is wearing this hot number this Summer.  It’s actually the same suit I wore last season.  I haven’t found a suit I liked better this season, so I am daring to be be seen in the same suits as last season.  Yes, I said suits.  I have it in four colors!

UNBJon TYR Swim Brief –  I will be mixing it up this summer. Instead of just my Nike and Speedo swim trunks, I have begun to venture into Speedo land. Look for me poolside not only wearing above the knee swim trunks, but also my newly purchased navy and blue TYR swim brief.Speedo solar brief

UNBGabe – Speedo Solar Swim Brief: There’s basically two styles of swimwear I’ll be wearing this summer.  For me it’s either a basic pair of board shorts or Speedo Solar swim brief.  I still swim competitively with a masters team so the Speedo is standard issue year round.  Of course, it has occasional utility if my fiance and I find ourselves someplace with a private jacuzzi and we’ve had too much to drink.  Board shorts on the other hand are pretty functional no matter what the setting, particularly where I live in FL.  They are available from so many manufacturers and in so many styles, it’s not practical to list them all here.  My particular pair is a generic brand from Target.  It dries super-fast, has built-in mesh support, and pockets for the car keys and wallet.

Bonobos swim trunkShane – Classic Swim Trunks  This summer, like all summers before, I will be wearing regular trunks to the pool, beach, river, creek, and puddle that I may happen to fall into.  These are not board shorts.  I do not like board shorts because they are too long.  These trunks are the type that hit above the knee and are not too loose fitting.  I have a couple of pairs of these and my favorite one is a green, blue, white, and black plaid pair.  This style looks good on my body and provides good coverage.  I tend to think of them as classic in styling.

UN8-13-Full

Anyone who knows me knows that I absolutely love N2N underwear.  They have a knack for creating underwear that is visually stimulating and feels great on the skin.  The Classic Jock is no exception.  I knew the minute that I put it on that I was going to love wearing it.

My day consisted of an 8-hour day at the office.  I love wearing jocks under my dress pants.  Something about the feel of the pants on my rear, and knowing that my co-workers have no idea that I have on such hot underwear.  The straps on this jock did not bind or pull.  I also noticed that the straps are sewn in such a way that they do not twist underneath the package as some other jocks do.

I followed the work day with a vigorous workout at the gym.   The fabric helped keep my dry down there and the jock did a great job of supporting me while I did weights and cardio.  It also gave me a slightly noticeable bulge in my shorts, at least more so than usual.  Not that I minded.  I hate underwear that flattens you out.  I want to be comfortable when I work out, not pulling on my underwear every time I sit down on a weight bench or after I finish running on the treadmill.

UN8-13-EUN8-13-BUN8-13-A

The sizing for N2N is based on US measurements and sizing, so if you follow their size chart you shouldn’t have any problem with this jock fitting you well.  I tend to fluctuate between a small and a medium, depending on the brand and cut of underwear.  I received this jock in a medium, which fit my 31” waist perfectly.  The cotton/spandex blend of the pouch fit snugly on my package and lifted me just right.   The jock is available in white, light blue and heather; I wish there were more colors, I would definitely get them all.

Pros

  • Very comfortable
  • snug pouch that lifts the goods
  • non-binding straps

Cons

  • only available in three colors

I have recently started wearing more briefs from Clever Moda, so I was pleased to receive this pair to review.   Clever always creates underwear with interesting patterns and color combinations.  They are usually super comfortable and wear well as everyday underwear.

I wore this pair on a regular work day for me. Eight hours of sitting at a desk staring at a computer monitor.  But unlike most desk-jockeys, I rarely sit still at work.  I get up and walk around, and when it’s slow I’ve been known to bust a move in the middle of the office if there’s good music playing.   I love how these underwear felt all day.  I “dress down” and never had a problem with anything moving out of place.   I wore them to the gym as well after work.  There’s always a little thrill to changing in the locker room when I am wearing new and different underwear.  With it’s squiggly line and diamond mesh pattern, this is definitely an eye-catching pair and drew a few inquisitive looks.   Not only does the mesh make them visually appealing, but also makes them  very breathable.  Throughout the workout, I was comfortable and dry.

The pair I received was a size medium, and fit perfectly on my 31” waist.  The fabric is 85% nylon/15% spandex; stretchy and supportive.  They are available in white or purple, with a silver waistband with the purple Clever logo.  They were form fitting without being uncomfortable, and definitely will go into the rotation to be worn regularly.

Clever is one of the hottest new brands to hit the designer underwear scene in the past couple of years.  They create flashy underwear that fits well while making a statement: look at me.  The Desert Classic Brief is another outstanding pair, designed for the man that wants comfort and style.

The first thing you notice is the desert wave pattern.  Not only does it look good, but it feels great.  To both the wearer and anyone who is lucky enough to touch your underwear.  There is a center seam in both the pouch and the seat, providing lift in just the right places.  With the unmistakeable wide waistband, you can’t miss the logo on this pair.

I wore them while I ran errands and then to the gym.  I loved the way they felt.  The microfiber fabric did a great job of keeping me dry while I worked out.  An hour on the stationary bike and I didn’t have any chaffing that sometimes happens with other brands.

I received them in a size medium, which was very true to size for my 31” waist.  I wish that the pouch were a little bit larger, but all in all I was comfortable in them all day.  They are available in silver and in blue.

Pros

  • form fitting
  • great texture
  • center seam

  • only available in two colors

When I received this pair to review, I saw the word “jockstrap” on the packaging and we super eager to try this on.  So you can imagine my surprise when I opened it up and found this pair inside.  I held it up and looked at it and wondered how it was supposed to go on.  This jockstrap has extra straps on both sides.   Candyman always comes up with eye catching designs and patterns, and this pair definitely fits the bill.   It is available in an array of colors: fuschia, green, orange, yellow, and black.

My day was pretty ordinary.   Other than getting up to stretch my legs a couple of times and walk around the office, I pretty much sat at my desk all day.  All work and no play, as the saying goes.  Which is probably a good thing.  This jockstrap is more about fashion than function, and I feel would be more suitable for a spicing up a special night than an intense workout at the gym.

CandyMan9641-foto2

I received it in a medium.  Some of the items that Candyman offers can be on the small side, but this actually fit me well.  I have a 31” waist, and then waistband sat comfortably on hips.

The striped pattern on the jockstrap is quite fun.  Definitely draws the eye to the goods.  And the material feels great.  A few of the extra straps were pretty loose, which made me wonder how this jockstrap would fit on a guy with a larger or smaller backside.  To get the full effect of how hot this jockstrap is, everything needs to be pulled nice and tight.

Pros

  • hot colors
  • eye catching pattern

Cons

  • extra straps can be a little loose

Before I received this pair to review, I did not own anything from MaleBasics.  And anyone who knows me and my passion for underwear will tell you I’m not a fan of boxer briefs.  I tend to prefer smaller briefs.   So it was with a little reluctance that I agreed to review the MaleBasics Boxerbrief.  And  must say I was pleasantly surprised.  78% nylon and 22% spandex, I really enjoyed the way they felt throughout my day.

It was just a typical day for me.  8 long hours at my desk, with the occasional stroll throughout the office to keep the blood flowing.  I was worried that I would be pulling them legs down every time I stood up, but much to my surprise I only had to do that a couple of times.  The waistband was extremely comfortable, and I liked the fact that it didn’t create the dreaded “muffin top” around my waist.   After work I went to the gym to work out, and wore these under my shorts.  The fabric breathes and moves great.   Because I generally wear briefs, I am used to more of a pouch, I did find myself making the occasional adjustment when things moved out of place.

With contrast stitching on the legs and pouch, these boxerbriefs are definitely eye catching.   The waistband boldly announces the brand, and there will be no mistaking that you are a man who has exceptional taste in underwear when you wear these.

Pros:

  • great fabric
  • legs did not ride up

Cons:

  • no pouch front

Hot hot hot!  That’s the best way to describe this super fun trunk from Male Power.  When I took it out of the package, I couldn’t figure out what the pattern was or how it would look.  But as as I put it on and looked in the mirror I knew what all the buzz was about.  Designed to provide support and titillate at the same time, this trunk is sure to spice up those special times between you and your partner.  Made from a polyester/spandex blend, the look and feel of this trunk is a winner.

The first thin you notice about these trunks is the construction.   This body hugging short is covered in see-thru inserts, giving any one who sees you in them a glimpse of what is underneath.   While that may be disconcerting to some, it can be quite exhilerating for others.  I wore mine on purpose to the gym, and caught quite a few looks as I changed into my gym shorts.    Not only do they look great, but they felt great.  Didn’t have any issues working out in them at all.  And the inserts made them exceptionally breathable.   There is a center seam that provides some lift in the back as well, which is always nice.  My only complaint is that they are only offered in black and white.  Imagine red and white…yowza!

  • super sexy
  • lifts in front and back

Male-Power-Bamboo-Boxers-Teal

In today’s “green” world, it should be no surprise that underwear companies are now creating new and unique underwear that is both comfortable and eco-friendly.  Male Power has created it’s Bamboo collection with this in mind.  95% bamboo, 5% spandex, this trunk style brief is a great buy for the environmentally conscious man.

I wore this trunk on a day when I worked all day.  Sitting at my desk, occasionally walking throughout the office an such.  While I generally prefer to wear briefs, I have to say that I really liked this trunk.  emblazoned with the Male Power logo, the waistband is comfy and doesn’t pinch, and the legs didn’t ride up.  The fabric feels amazing.  These trunks have a built in pouch that lifts and accentuates while giving you plenty of room to breath.  The pouch was a little loose, but definitely captures the sex appeal that Male Power is known for producing.

This trunk fit true to size and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a trunk with the sex appeal of a pouch brief.  Available in black and teal.

It’s no secret to anyone who knows me that I am an avid fan of hot underwear.  Most of my collection consists of various briefs.  Everything from colorful low rise to classic tighty whities to a skimpy bikini or two.   Briefs are my go-to choice for daily wear.  But lately I’ve been wearing jocks more and more, not just for the gym or athletic activities.  So I was really excited to receive this jock from Joe Snyder to review.   I already have several other pairs of underwear from them and one of their jocks, so this makes a great addition to my collection.   As with many of the jocks that Joe Snyder offers, it is “one size (28/38)”, and is microfiber 80% Polyamide 20% Elastane.

I absolutely loved wearing this jock all day.  As soon as I put it on, I knew this was the start of a great relationship.  The fabric blend is amazing and feels great.  And the support…ooh the support.   I cooked breakfast (doesn’t everyone cook in their underwear?), did some work in my office, and then took off on my day.   The day included a little retail therapy, a coffee date, and a dance class.  I had on jeans to start the day, athletic pants to wind it down.  This  jock felt great underneath both.  I didn’t experience any chafing with the straps, and the pouch kept me in place all day, even while I was kick-ball-changing my way through class.

Joe Snyder loves to create underwear with something extra.  This jock has a cutout in the front.  Think of it as a little peek-a-boo, giving a hint of what lies beneath.  This drew an inquisitive glance or two in the locker room.  Which for anyone who wears things like this is not a problem.  And I am sure if you wear this jock and get into an intimate situation it will definitely add some spice!

This jock fit me really well.  Which leads me to wonder just how the “one size” fits guys with a larger waist.  I imagine that the waist might be a little tight for someone with a larger waist size and that the straps might feel tighter and little more binding.

Pros

  • Fantastic feel
  • Peekaboo opening
  • Good support

Cons

  • One size fits all

James Tudor is not a brand I am familiar with, so when I received it I had not preconceived notions as to what to expect from them. The pair received was the Military Brief in White in a size medium.   When I took them out of the package, I was unsure about how I would like them.  Usually I can tell by looking at a pair if they are going to work for me or not.  With these, I had no clue.  95% cotton, 5% elastane, the distinct button fall front certainly piqued my curiosity.

These briefs were very comfortable from the start.  The waistband, with the bold James Tudor logo, fit snugly without being too tight.  As did the leg openings.   The contrast stitching on the seat gives a nice look and aids in providing the rear support that some of us need.  I don’t normally wear briefs with a fly front or any sort of opening, so I was curious how the button down “fall” front would work.  Inside the brief there is an opening that the goods naturally fit through when you put them on.  So in order to go to the restroom, you unbutton and lower the front flap.    Which for me seemed a little cumbersome.  You can’t just “whip it out” when you have to go, making the quick trip to the restroom a little longer than usual.

Available in white, blue, and black, this brief is definitely an eye catcher.

The weather has started getting a little cooler here in Atlanta (believe it or not).   Soon we will be into Fall and then eventually for what we call “winter”.   Just cold enough for most Southerners to go into hibernation and stay indoors for a couple of months.  And for those of us who love to be outdoors no matter what the weather, it’s the season of hot men in running tights.   I run year-round, so I own several pairs.  Worn with a long sleeved t-shirt and running shoes, it’s the perfect combination of just enough and not too much clothing to keep me warm on those blustery days.  I received the PX Runner athletic tights from N2N Bodywear in a size medium, and although it’s not quite cool enough to wear them for my morning runs I gave them a try one day while working out in the fitness room where I live.  These tights are multiple fabric; the solid fabric is 79% recycled polyester and 21% spandex, the mesh fabric is 96% micro polyester and 4% spandex.  Super stretchy and form fitting, the standard that N2N is known for, these tights are not for the faint of heart.

The first thing you notice about these tights is the pouch front.  True to form, the pouch is designed to accentuate your god-given parts, and leaves nothing to the imagination.  And I do mean nothing.   Anyone who sees you in them will know just exactly what you are working with down there.  As daring as I tend to be, I’m not sure I would ever be able to wear these out running unless I wore shorts over them.   I caught two of my neighbors who happened to be in the fitness room stealing glances; lord only knows what they thought of my attire.  I do love the way they look though.  The different colors of the accent fabric and the mesh portions almost create a natural definition of the leg muscles.  And as I worked out I didn’t get over heated since the mesh is very breathable.  I did an upper body workout and then ran on the treadmill for 45 minutes.  I have to admit that as I ran I forgot about the pouch and just got into my run.  They were that comfortable.   So who knows, maybe once it’s actually cold outside I’ll give them a whirl on the streets.  That’ll be sure to stop some traffic (just what Atlanta needs, another traffic jam).

These athletic tights are available in three color patterns: black and white with grey mesh panels, yellow and white with black mesh panels, and blue and black with white mesh panels.

Pros

  • great fit
  • breathable mesh panels
  • inside drawstring

Cons

  • prominent pouch may cause some to wear additional layers

The PX Runner was provided by N2N Bodwear and is available at http://n2nbodywear.com for $60.00.

As an avid fan of laying in the sun and bronzing my body, I’m always on the lookout for new swimwear.  I’ve been a competitive swimmer and played water polo for many years, so I am quite used to wearing a speedo.  So much so that it has become my swimwear of choice, no matter what the location.

Besides, women wear small swimsuits all the time.  No reason why guys shouldn’t.  But that’s another story to be discussed at a different time.  Bum Chums is one of the newest men’s underwear and swimwear companies to hit the market.   They are dedicated to creating “fun and funky designs” while providing support in the front and back. The swim brief  is available in five vibrant colors: Cheeky Cherry, Blue Berry, Lemon Lush, Purple Plum and Pink Peach.

I received the Lemon Lush in a size medium. I’ve never owned anything by them so I was eager to try it out, and finally had a nice sunny day to hit the pool and work on my tan line.

I have to say that I was quite pleased with this suit.  Very comfortable and well made.  The waistband does a great job of concealing the drawstring, and sat on my hips perfectly.  Definitely an eye-catcher, this suit does like any good speedo and clings to the body and the seat gives your backside a little lift.  I did find that this particular color became slightly see through when wet, which isn’t a problem as the double lined pouch in the front keeps you from showing too much.  The tag is on the outside, so you don’t get that an tag showing through in the back when wet like you do with some other suits.

Pros

  • tag on front
  • double lined pouch
  • good support in front and back

Cons

  • might be slightly see through when wet (which might be a pro depending on the person!)
