Men’s Underwear

Category

One of our newest writers is Sawyer. This is his journey into how he discovered underwear.

My story started when I was about 19 and was in need of some new underwear. I was tall and skinny, which I still am. The whitey tighties didn’t fit well because they would come up to my belly button or higher. I lived in what some may call a rural area and still do. This was before e-bay and the internet so the options were limited to Meijer,

Wal-Mart, and JCPenney, I went to search my options and bought a 5 pack of Faded Glory bikini style underwear from Wal-Mart. They were the first pair of underwear that had a decent fit for someone of my build. Then I tried the string bikini cut Fruit of the Looms and my appreciation of better fitting and feeling underwear began. After a few years of wearing the bikini style underwear, I got up enough nerve to buy a thong to try. Since then I have also tried boxer briefs and boxers.

The first pairs of underwear I bought did change what I like and look for in underwear. I want a pair that fits well. A good fitting pair of underwear can change your mood, give you confidence, makes you feel sexy, and so on.

Faded Glory and a few other brands have disappeared out of the big box stores. Sometimes they have a replacement brand depending on what city you are in. Until I found UNB, I was unaware of the various brands of underwear. I only knew of a couple and the imports from China on ebay. But, I have since moved from the big box store brands to other brands like Bodyaware and Cocksox. UNB has opened up a whole new world of underwear to try that I never knew existed..

I had a friend in college that I knew wore bikini style underwear. Knowing that he wore them gave me the confidence to try something other than whitey tighties. Once I ran into a friend while buying some new underwear when I first started buying something other than whitey tighties and she gave me her opinion on what she liked to see men wear. So that has always stuck in my mind.

I still normally wear the bikini cut underwear similar in style to the first ones I bought. But I will wear most any style of underwear depending on what I will be doing. The only style of underwear I don’t care for is boxers.

Greek brand Modus Vivendi has just released a brand new line of underwear and streetwear featuring a neo-retro polkadot design. Great style never gets old so the label revisited the trend and brought it back in fashion! The Modus Vivendi PolkaDot line comprises three styles of underwear (low cut briefs, briefs and boxer briefs), a tank top, a shirt and a bermuda style pair of shorts in this pattern.

The campaign of this line is inspired by the 1950’s barber shops. It represents a way of living with honour to tradition. Models Christos Efremidis and Christos Kitsiou as the barber and the client are photographed by the talented team of P2Photography on location in Thessaloniki, Greece. We hope you like it as much as we do!

I often think of “boxer briefs” as the “sofa bed” of underwear — it’s neither! Sofa beds are lousy sofas and awful beds. Boxer briefs, I often think, fall into the same pit of indecision: they aren’t great boxers and suck as briefs — yet they’re often the midpoint from traditional (i.e. crappy) underwear to the good stuff we write about on UNB.

Xtremen isn’t a wishy-washy brand. It happily lives at the extreme and invites men to join them on the edge. You know, the best thing about underwear is that it’s your choice with whom you share it. Unlike our outer layers which are on public display, what’s behind the zipper is visible to only those lucky enough to catch a glimpse — which may be just us! Sure, hitting the gym or a doctor’s appointment may influence a decision to tone it down but thankfully, even in those settings, men are getting more comfortable with vibrant colors and daring styles.

So, if you’re a fan of the somewhere-in-the-middle boxer brief but want to ramp up the sexy quotient — point your browser (or anything else…!) to Xtremen and embrace your inner exhibitionist!

First — about the brand:

Xtremen men’s underwear is, like the name suggests, designed for extreme wear. Each style is specially designed to endure the rigors of everyday wear, but with a dash of style. The high-quality fabrics in the Xtremen men’s underwear include stretch microfiber, athletic micro mesh, and a cotton mesh blend, all geared to provide long lasting comfort and amazing support. Styles in the Xtremen men’s underwear collection include trunks and boxer briefs. Xtremen is ideal for everyday wear when you want a dash of style and comfort that still makes a statement.

Now — the main event:

The Xtremen 91013 Boxer Brief features a subtle line design that shows off your finest assets in a sexy display of skin thanks to its transparent fabric on the legs. The pouch is made from ultra-soft fabric for a touch of modesty and is contoured to lift and support, giving you a more enhanced frontal profile.

The underwear is hand made in Colombia – South America with USA and Colombian fabrics which are composed of 80% Nylon 10% Polyester 10% Spandex.

The boxer brief is nice and low and falls just below natural waistline and sports a wide elastic logo waistband so you can advertise your sexy selection at will! And, of course, the pouch is contoured for support and definition — we’d have it no other way!

These come in black, blue, and white, and in sizes ranging from small to extra large. They cost $14 and are available at the company website.

Enjoy your visit to the extreme!

Not everyone who reads UNB wants to go to the skimpiest bikini or thong. There are quite a few who like boxer briefs and prefer them to work out in. Jack Adams has a new pair that boxer brief fans need to know about. It’s the Air Trainer Boxer Briefs. They are part of the Spring 2017 Collection

The official description is: Jack Adams Air Trainer Trunk designed with a horizontal fly for quick access with nature calls and a contoured pouch to nestle the boys for support. The fabric is micro Lenzing Modal that offers the finest comfort, breathability and hugging form. Made of 95% Lenzing Micro Modal and 5% Elastane

What you guys Will love about the pair:

  • It has a functional fly. There is a number of guys out there who prefer a functional fly.Sometimes it’s a design thing and other times its functional
  • Contoured pouch design. The one thing that seems to be universal with UNB readers is a great pouch. No matter the size of the guy, one that gives amazing support and doesn’t contract you is top of the list.
  • Lenzing Modal Material – Modal is amazingly soft. It feels so good on the skin. Put this in a pair to work out and it’s a total win!
  • Simple waistband – Believe it or not we have guys who are not big waistband fans. For those who like something more low key this pair has a black waistband that will accent the pair and not draw attention to it. It’s a classic style that can be worn in the locker room without shouting what your underwear is.

It’s SWIMWEAR SUNDAY! The time of the week we celebrate amazing swimwear! One of the underrated swimwear brands on the market is WildmanT. Tim has made some amazing pairs of swim over the years. Some even featured enhancing features. While others were really cool and well designed briefs and trunks.

The official announcement is:

“Introducing Sportivo!  The sporty and masculine bikini designed for the tough guy.  It’s that little sexy black bikini every real guy should have with a hot kick of color to stand out.  Features one racing stripe on the crotch and two stripes on the right side.  It draws attention where you want it most.  Fits like a glove that you won’t want to take off.”

The pair is a bigger cut brief. It reminds me of speedos swimmers used to wear in the 80s/90s. I think the bigger cut looks good on many body types. Including beefy guys, who sometimes feel that they can’t pull off a swim brief. WildmanT, I think, is going after the guy who wouldn’t normally wear a swim brief with the Sportivo line. I say BRAVO WildmanT. It’s time we start marketing to the guys who are weary of swim briefs.

The pairs are solid with a stripe down the front and the sides. It’s not over the top but more of a classic design. It’s a great first swim brief for guys. If you jump in and go too skimpy, the swim brief may not fit well. I say try the larger ones and then go skimpier.

The pair is made out of an 80% Nylon / 20% Spandex fabric. One thing newcomers may like is it’s lined. Meaning you won’t show off your goods.  Available in a few colors, so you will be able to pick out your favorite color! Lastly, it has a drawstring waist. Which is pretty standard in swimwear.

If you are going to try your first swim brief, we think you should try the WildmanT Sportivo Bikini

BRAND: WildmanT
PAIR: Sportivo Bikini
COLORS: Black/Yellow, Black/Red, Black/Purple, Red/White, Teal/White, and Purple.
FABRIC: 80% Nylon / 20% Spandex
SIZES: Small – X-Large
COST: $45.50

JOR is well known for its prints. Every year they release such new prints. It really amazes me how the find all these prints. It’s not like they have one print they just changed the color or changed up a few things. They have prints that consist of cities, plants, animals, and more.

In the new prints, they are the Choco, Dandy, Pride, Tatocoa, Parce, Amazonia and Salento. These are just limited to the underwear and not swimwear. There are even more in the swimwear collection. We will have more on those soon because there is not enough space in this post to cover it all!

Most of the styles have a tank, boxer (boxer brief), and brief. I will say that I wish they had the thong and jock included in all the prints! I think they would go over well!

Choco Print

The Choco print is a tropical print featuring leaves on a white background. This one is just available in the tank and boxer.

Dandy Print

Dandy is a more subtle print. It has a light blue or mint background. Each one has an anchor on them. The tank has a bit more graphic elements

Pride Print

JOR has a Pride print for a while. It’s a rainbow inspired design. It’s not the literal interpretation of the pride flag. The colors are a bit darker. All three have the saying “You Make Me Happy – Peace and Love”

Tatocoa Print

This is probably my favorite print. It’s a photo print with writing and graphics over the print. This line also has a jock and thong.

Parce Print

Is another photo print mixed with graphic elements. The photo is a city print. I really like the teal/light blue accent color on the pairs.

Amazonia Print

Looking for a bright waistband with a fun tropical print? This is for you. With flowers and a leopard on the pairs. Done in bright floral colors.

Salento Print

The Salento is a mix of stripes and a floral print. The yellow and blue stripes made a great background for the flower print.

I wanted to give you a quick overview on the new stripes. See the entire collection at the JOR website.

UNB has developed a community over the years. There are several guys who I see comment, enter contests and talk to us on social media. These guys have been around for years. We love to see it grow. When I first started the blog it was mainly other gay underwear lovers. As the years progressed we have gained a loyal straight readership. Who knew that underwear would bring us all together. Also, that some of the straight guys would be so passionate about underwear.

We all have our own journey into how we discovered underwear. We love to share those stories with our readers. I think it encourages those who feel that they are the only one they know who loves underwear. It doesn’t’ matter if you’re gay, straight, or bi. We want to hear how you found underwear and how it shapes your underwear love today. Don’t worry if you say you can’t write, we have a template and just write like you talk.

This is your chance to open up to a group of guys and share who you are. Consider it Underwear Anonymous. Hi I’m Tim and I love underwear. It doesn’t matter what you like either. From boxer briefs to thongs to lace. Share what it is you love and why you love it. Don’t worry about sharing your real name on the net. We can use a pseudonym.

So how do you get started? Just fill out the form below and we will get in touch. Remember we are all here for each other!

First, congrats Nick on becoming the new Trophy boy for Andrew Christian. What made you enter the Trophy Boy Contest?

I decided to enter the Trophy Boy contest on a split decision. I saw a post about the contest on Instagram and thought to myself, “what could it hurt? If I lost, nothing changes, and there’s always a small chance I could win!”

Many times on model contests, so many people submit pictures and get lost in a sea of other models. When did you realize that you were seriously in the running to be the trophy boy?

I actually forgot about the contest after I submitted my photo and just assumed that I went unnoticed. Then a month later I received an email that told me that I made the top 50. At that moment I realized I might have a chance to change my life completely!

You were part of the final four guys. What was the best part about the final competition? What was the hardest thing about the competition?

The best part of the final competition was learning more about the business side of modeling. For a while I thought modeling only consist of taking good photos, but since entering the contest I realized it’s much larger than that. I learned that modeling isn’t just about the poses and the lighting, it’s about true confidence, hard work, marketing yourself, and being open to trying new things! The hardest thing about the competition was actually competing against all of these attractive guys. When all these guys are talented, good looking, and outgoing it can be hard to find a way to stand out from them. Everyone had what it took to win this competition, but the hardest part was showing people that I was different, that I was better.

Andrew Christian has some skimpy styles. Were you up for being photographed in thongs, jocks and mesh underwear?

Yes, Andrew Christian has some skimpy styles and I was totally down to be in (or out) of all of them. I was told one major piece of advice before I left for my first shoot in LA that stuck with me even to this day. I was told to always volunteer and not to be afraid to let your walls down.

What pair or pairs have been your favorite to shoot? And what is the wildest pair you have modeled for Andrew Christian?

My favorite pair to shoot in would have to be the BLOW line. I love the thick waist bands, and the mesh feels amazing! The wildest pair of underwear I’ve modeled for Andrew Christian would have to have been the singlet. When you think of singlet, you think of more coverage then a jock strap, but this singlet was basically a thong and a harness mixed!

Trying out for the Trophy Boy, you were obviously a fan of Andrew Christian underwear. Did you have a love of underwear in general?

I’ll be honest. I probably owned 10 good pairs of underwear before entering the contest. I never really got into underwear until I saw Andrew Christian’s line more in detail. When I tried on my first pair in the shoot, I fell in love with underwear. His underwear made me like underwear more and my body more!

Being an underwear blog we have to ask these two questions: What style makes up most of your underwear drawer? What is your favorite pair of Andrew Christian underwear?

Well since I model for Andrew Christian now, my underwear drawer is pretty equal when it comes to the style. But the AC team tends to love my ass showing, so Jock Straps seem to always show up the most! My favorite pair of Andrew Christian underwear would have to be my FUKR Slick brief. I just feel a sexy masculine vibe every time I slip into them.

Andrew Christian has some great models in their line up. Who are a few of the models you hope to work with in a video or photo shoot?

I love all of the models, everyone has been so welcoming and accepting! I cannot wait to work with all of them! But if I had to pick a few, I’m excited to work with in a shoot, it would have to be Topher and Arad!

Other than starting your career in modeling with Andrew Christian, what do you enjoy in your down time?

Lately my downtime has changed drastically. Before the contest in my downtime, I loved to work out and go out with friends. Now since the contest and winning, my downtown has changed to building. Building a career, building a new life, and building new relationships on the way!

What is one thing that may surprise our readers to know about you?

Something surprising that the readers don’t know about me… that’s a hard one seeing that I am pretty open. But if I had to say, it would probably be the fact that I actually get camera shy on videos. I still get nervous during shoots, even if I may look like someone who always knows what to say.

  • Briefs or boxer briefs? Briefs
  • Favorite workout undies (style)? Hands down the Vibe tagless briefs

Now that you are the Trophy Boy, when can we expect to see you in a new video/photo shoot?

Any moment now! If I had control over the content I would have been in 10 by now! But the massive video should be the first one! So keep updated!

If Andrew Christian does a second Sex=Power=Freedom. Would you participate?

When Andrew Christian Does another Sex=Power=Freedom book I will be first in line to participate! The book is a positive and strong message and I need to be a part of that inspiration!

What does being the Trophy Boy for Andrew Christian mean to you?

Being a Trophy Boy for Andrew Christian means the world to me. This title means change, movement, growth, and not just with the company, but internally with me. Having this title changed everything for me. It changed the way I viewed life, myself and the supportive community around me! A lot of people see a title, a contract, a pair of underwear, where I see the building blocks to a reality worth living. Being an AC Trophy Boy is the reason I smile when I wake up. It sounds sappy, but I now wake up every day realizing I did it. I worked hard for something I wanted and I achieved that goal, and that satisfaction keeps me smiling.

Lastly, where can our readers find you on social media?

We asked you guys about thongs and a week ago we shared the overview of the results. Now we want to share what some of you guys said about your feelings for thongs. All this is information is without any identifiable information. So you may be quoted in this post!

We asked why you guys wear thong. You guys said:

  • I think they give better support than a jock, good under compression shorts at the gym and sometimes for hot yoga, like having decent support with minimal coverage
  • Minimal material, great support, can make you feel sexy
  • Sometimes to be sexy, sometimes because I want to be bare-assed, and sometimes just ’cause I feel like it.
  • I like the support of pouch and knowing people don’t know I’m wearing them.
  • I think it is sexy and gives me an extra boost of confidence.
  • Less bulk under whatever I am wearing.
  • I think they are damn comfortable. I love them under jeans and khakis. I also feel sexy and yes, masculine too. I love the support of good thongs and how they really keep the boys secured.
  • I want to feel extra sexy.
  • no lines in back and shows off my bulge
  • Comfort. Also great under running tights.
  • just to change it up every now and then
  • Comfort! During hot weather, air flow. Amazing support. Maximum freedom of movement.
  • Feels great and sexy. Love the support it gives.
  • No “panty line,” the feel of “less,” & the comfort of the fabrics in the ones I own.
  • I find them extremely comfortable, the support is better than a jock, and they make me feel sexy and more confident.
  • I like the feeling of them—much more comfortable and less restricting than briefs and bikinis.
  • They make me feel sexy, and feel less constricted when wearing them under snug jeans
  • It’s exciting, different, a change from normal underwear. It’s sent, it’s something only.i know I’m wearing. It’s powerful. It’s comfortable and supportive.

For those who don’t like thongs, here are their reasons:

  • Just don’t like them most of the time uncomfortable
  • They are uncomfortable and not always flattering
  • Don’t Care for the constant weggie
  • I have nothing against them, but i think briefs are so much sexier
  • I work in a factory, peer pressure
  • I find them slightly uncomfortable so they are distracting to wear.
  • I like them, fiancé thinks they’re “gay” she doesn’t like them but tolerates or ignores them

Last, we asked why you LOVE thongs.

  • Best comfort and just fun to wear
  • Love the look and freedom
  • They’re very sexy. You feel it while wearing it. Makes you very aware of it
  • They’re sexy, comfortable, supportive. Gives a bit of a wild side. Keeps you cooler. Like how they look.
  • Love how they make me feel
  • They are some of the sexiest underwear a man can wear. They also provide support to a man who doesn’t like a lot of material under his clothes.
  • Same as the reason for wearing them. Plus I like knowing I am wearing something that not a lot of guys wear
  • Thongs are a hot option. The t strap might not the best choice for everyone, but I love them. They provide a provocative, sexy charge.
  • I love thongs because of how I look in them. They make me feel sexy when I wear them. I know there is a stigma attached to men that wear thongs but I do not care, they are comfortable and I am sure if men would give them a chance thongs would lose their stigma.
  • Like not being mainstream.

I love polls like this that shares our readers passions and interests. Also, those who don’t like a pair and why.

Do you want to celebrate equality? It doesn’t matter if you are gay, bi or straight. It matters that you want everyone to be equal. Andrew Christian has released a new Pride collection. It features more than just underwear. It has hats, backpack, shirts and more. But we will be focusing on the new brief and jock.

Andrew Christian said this about the new collection:

Celebrate equality with our sexy and cool Pride Stripe Brief. This limited edition pair has everything that you love about every Almost Naked pair we’ve made, and come in a fun rainbow color Pride Print. And because we know you feel as good as you look, they feature our Signature Andrew Christian slimming waistband. They just feel like you’re not wearing any underwear at all. Hang-free design with no hidden cups, straps or padding. Extra room in front, just where you need it. When you pull them on, your package falls naturally into the super soft snuggle pocket to create a truly enjoyable unique wearing experience. Virtually eliminates sticking, squashing, re-adjusting, sweating and chafing.
The brief and Jock features the awesome Almost Naked pouch. It’s a personal favorite of many of us here at UNB. It’s an ergonomically designed pouch that fits guys of all sizes pretty darn well. It always ranks high in any post we do about pouches. Also, both pairs are made from the same rainbow stripe material. Match that with an Andrew Christian branded waistband. It’s a really great design. The rainbow print isn’t over the top and screams “gay.” Well, I don’t think so! But you can judge for yourself.
Find both pairs at the Andrew Christian site. Note they are limited edition and sizes may sell out!

There is a question that is on a lot of peoples mind in underwear/gear. I know you are thinking it too! It’s “Where is the spandex in the new N2N Bodywear?”  RIGHT?! I know you guys were thinking it. I am here to answer that very question! Sorry couldn’t resist the opening. If you did ask that (which I did after the initial release) more is coming this year!

N2N just dropped the Ultra Skins 2.0 collection. It’s available in a runner and singlet. I, as I have mentioned before, am a big singlet fan. I have prob 10 of them from N2N! Some of the best on the market. They are the right amount of coverage and sex appeal. The Ultra Skins is a solid body with two different colors on the sides.

There are two styles in the Ultra Skins 2.0 collection. The runner and singlet. The runner is one I think you could wear to the gym or running. There are a few runners from N2N that were just for private use rather than public wearing. However, that hasn’t stopped a few readers from wearing them to the gym or out.

The singlet is a lower cut singlet. One of the styles that N2N is known for over the years. Low cut comes down to the hips and has less coverage in front. N2N makes both high and low cut. Would you wear it to the gym? I honestly don’t know. I have many years ago and wore a shirt over it.

There are three colors that both pairs come in. The colors are white, grey and black. The white has blue accents. The grey has red accents. Lastly, the black has white/grey accenting colors. Each have the same pattern of colors. It’s a pretty cool design. I personally love the white/blue the best. Something about it just pops to me.

If you love these go to N2N Bodywear and find them!

BRAND: N2N Bodywear
PAIR: Ultra Skins 2.0 Runner and Singlet

The first of many new lines by Modus Vivendi this season is the Camo Line which comprises underwear in four styles (low cut briefs, briefs, bottomless briefs and boxers), tank tops and two styles of pants (tapered sweatpants and bermuda style shorts). All of them are available in two geometric camouflage prints: khaki and blue. The line is a fresh take on a very popular trend this season with which Modus Vivendi invites you to find your inner marine or navy seal and be a tower of strength!

The design as well as the campaign that you are about to see is inspired by one of Christos Bibitsos’ all time favourite films, Querelle, by Reiner Werner Fassbinder. The campaign is photographed in Madrid by the talented fashion photographer Joan Crisol. Model Javier F.A. takes on the role of the young sailor to present the new styles in settings and light with clear references to the 1982 drama.
