In our latest Model Profile we sit down with Maurice Bright. He’s an up and coming model in the world of underwear. Here is your chance to get to know more about this amazing guy.

What was your first modeling job and how did you come to get it?

My 1st modeling job was a swimwear style shoot for Lupo. I got the job by building a solid relationship with Lupo North America’s general manager Malcolm over time and he believed in me before I really did any extensive modeling.

What made you want to pursue modeling?

For a long time I felt like from head to toe I was a rarity in appearance. Attractive enough to fit a “model” mold but unique looking enough to be able to rise in the ranks efficiently given the work.

Do you have a shoot that you consider your breakthrough in your career?

The Lupo shoot, by far. Working with photographer Rawy Rayan to create those images really set the tone for my career.

image2-1

Which shoot has been your favorite? Why?

My latest shoot for my Chocolat campaign, with photographer Diana Etienne. I really liked that shoot because it was not so “harsh” so to speak, a lot softer and artistic than my previous shoots.

Which shoot has been your most challenging? Why?

The Lupo shoot was the most challenging simply because it was a 5 hour shoot in the BLAZING heat haha.

Are there any brands or photographers you would like to work with that you have not worked with yet?

I’d love to work with Ricky Day, his work his phenomenal. I’d also like to shoot with Luis Rafael. As far as brands, I’m quite comfortable with the idea of modeling for Lupo exclusively to be honest.

image1

What is something our readers don’t know about you outside of modeling that you want them to know?

Uhm, I’ve been actively writing poetry for about 14 years of my life now and I love it!

What kind of diet and exercise do you do to prepare for shoots?

My diet is more flexible than other’s may think – I frequent Chinese food, Wendy’s and etc. but I make sure these foods fit my macronutrient requirements for the day. I tend to cut out diet sodas as a shoot nears as well. The exercises I do remain the same, lifting heavy but I do add more high intensity interval training like speed clean & jerks to shed a wee bit more body fat if needed.

image6

Favorite cheat meal?

I’ve recently rekindled my love for brownies so yeah, those haha.

Were you a fan of underwear before modeling?

Not really but I’m discovering some really gnarly brands out there so I’m learning more as the days go by!

Looking at your underwear drawer, what is it made up of?  % boxer briefs, % briefs, % jocks, % thongs.

My underwear drawer is 70% boxers and 30% briefs but I’m really interested in trying out some jocks especially given my activeness.

The craziest pair of underwear you have ever worn?

Haven’t worn anything TOO crazy to be honest. I’d say these really tight Hollister briefs haha, didn’t really anticipate how snug they were going to be but my thighs and glutes are quite muscular so yeah.

image2

What are your goals for your career?

To be one of the most known muscle models in the world, scoring a slew of work in underwear modeling but also remaining well respected in the fit model community.

What is the best advice anyone gave you when you started your modeling career?

“Don’t ever rush greatness, continuously feed it and be patient about it’s growth.”

Fetish FridayFetish wear is not just leather and black. It can be anything that is out of the ordinary for men’s underwear. That could include lace, satin, latex, rubber or leather. The item we choose for this week’s Fetish Friday is the Body Aware Smooth Satin Bodysuit. This is because we have all the new singlets on the market. But this is something to the next level! It’s sexy and fun.

BodyAware is well known in mixing the masculine and feminine side of men’s underwear. The mixing of satin, lace and more feminine cuts to the undies. They just have fun making undies and guys seem to love it. The Smooth Satin Bodysuit is a pair of underwear and a tank all in one. Except this bodysuit has a thong back! Here is the official description: “Soft, supple and very shiny satin thong bodysuit for men. This superb sport-styled bodysuit provides shape and support with a flattering style that highlights your shoulders, waist and butt. Constructed of smooth satin blend of polyester/spandex that is lightweight and stretchy. Allows you to move freely, without constriction. Center seam down front and back provides perfect contouring and fit. Step-in styling and rounded neckline. Thong back.”

You maybe asking where would you wear it? I guess any you want! It could be worn under jeans and out to a bar. Also you could wear it under your work clothes (suit or uniform), but we would recommend you wearing the white one for that. Other colors may come through!

The pair comes in four different colors. They are white, black, navy and turquoise. The Smooth Satin Bodysuit is $39.95 at the BodyAware Site!

Do you have a favorite fetish pair? Let us know so we can feature it!

You can see it here: http://e-modusvivendi.com/gbu0-catshow/mc_FlashLine.html

Giving a hint of what the new collection of Modus Vivendi will be like, this line has some sexy and classic underwear designs. Vibrant colours as well as classic ones in a range of different cuts and fabrics. In this specific line you find white, blue and brown, combined with aqua blue, yellow and orange. There are three distinctive and very comfortable shapes: low cut briefs, briefs and brazil cut boxers all made from the finest cotton.

The conceptual pictures show model Alexandros Kaltsidis in the new designs of the brand, photographed on location in Thessaloniki. UnknownWhat is better than an accent color, a good pop of difference to run the trim? The OUTLINE, as AussieBum’s new briefs are called, have just that. And let’s face it that is frickin cute. They keep the classic features that one would expect from AussieBum “Soft, sleek and body contouring.” Is not only what you can expect from these pairs but a well contoured bulge as well, having the outline piping dip around the bulge for more emphasis.

Unlike many pairs from this and other brands the Outline brief has a thin waistband. This has the effect of not pulling the eye in an obvious way but helping to accentuate the briefs as a whole, matching the width of the piping around the legs. My personal favorites are the red outline around the Royal Blue and the olive like green around the black. Although, fans of classic white briefs will salivate over the emerald lined white pair.

The briefs are 87% Micro Modal, 13% Elastane, will bring that gentle fabric feel to your days spent in these. As they are saying, this pair will be ideal to wear under “form fitting jeans and pants”. And the best part, they are selling for $14.56!

undergear+catalog-010What more appropriate Throw Back Thursday. Over the years UnderGear has had so many incredible pictures they have done. One of their models is BMX Champion Will Grant. He posed in 2012 for UnderGear in various swimwear and underwear! Its still a shame we won’t have any more pics from them! I have this same pair of swim, its the avatar for my twitter account UNBTim, but I don’t look as good as Will does in it!

2wink_newsletter_july_2015

2wink is known for making fun underwear and swimwear! The last piece we covered was the Graffiti Freedom Jock. Now they have come out with the Cockatoo Bikini. Which is an almost string bikini in black. It’s sexy and fun. 2wink says “The black Cockatoo is an Australian native bird known for it’s good looks. These super soft, super smooth bikini briefs will show off your hot buns and cup your pouch. Feeling seductive, then these are perfect ! ”

The pair is made out of a cotton/spandex blend. Which means it will conform to your body and give you that support you need while showing off the “hot buns.” The back is almost a full back. It’s not too small for those who like fuller coverage in the back. Made with a black 2wink waistband to match the main color. It makes it very classic and clean.

The only color available is black. So if you’re looking for more you will be out of luck. This pair looks amazing in black. It is as I have mentioned above a very classic and sleek look in the pair. I think this is the most conservative pair I have seen from 2wink! It’s not all classic, the cut makes it definitely sexy. The Cockatoo retails for $19.95 AUD at the 2wink website.

WANTED

Are you a model or photographer working in the world of Men’s Underwear? If you are we def would love to work with you! We have some up coming projects and would love to profile some new/up and coming models and photogs.

Projects: We have several big shoots throughout the year. Models in the ATL are that are open to working in the world of underwear are preferred. Our shoots tend to be a lot of fun and hosted in the SouthEast. We also prefer models we can work with on an on going basis.

Profiles : Next our profiles are prefect for exposing your work to a new market. We love doing both for photogs and models. We will send you a series of questions to answer and then promote it on our blog.

If you are interested in either or both email us at info at underwearnewsbriefs[dot]com or hit the connect button above!

Cheapundies.comYou may only think that Cheapundies.com is just about getting an amazing deal on underwear brands you know and love! However, did you know they have their own brand of underwear, swimwear and gear? That’s right they have some great gear at even better prices! Cheapundies.com is taking on high priced undies and bringing underwear to the masses!

The new swim wear is call the Power Swim Collection. It’s a low rise trunk style design with white on the top in a v cut design. The pouch has a slight contour. This means you won’t be showing off all you have but should give you some good support. Speaking of the pouch the front is lined as well. Lastly is the draw string with metal eyelets on the ends.

This is a great looking swim design. Cheapundies.com make really great undies and swimwear. The pairs I have tried have been very good quality, especially at the cost they are being sold. The price of the Power Swim trunks are $14.95. It is available in blue, purple and sky blue. If you need a great pair of swim at an even better price check out the Power Swim at Cheapundies.com

99115UndiesMonday is not about wearing something out there like Fetish Friday. Its about wearing something fun. Fun could be a bright color/pattern, new material or a different cut than you are used too (such as brief instead of a boxer brief). I wanted something something fun for the first UndiesMonday and choose the Candyman 99115 Boxer. It may not sound like a sexy name but the pair is pretty fun.

The boxer is a mix of solid and mesh panels and a solid mesh back. But don’t worry it has a solid pouch so you won’t be showing it all off. The mesh comes in two different colors black and pink. That means you can go really wild with the pink or keep it subtle with the black. The solid material is a leather like black material on both colors.

Where would you wear this pair? I could see this under a power suit by an executive. It could also be great under jeans or a casual work environment. Wearing it to the gym maybe a bit much for most guys so make sure you don’t have a gym day.

Find this pair at the Candyman Fashion site for $23.48 in either color. And remember wear fun underwear on Monday for Undies Monday!

We have to thank Steve Grand for doing this interview with us. He is an amazing guy to take time out of his busy schedule to answer these questions!

You are no stranger to swim briefs, you have posted a few pics in them on instagram. You look great in them. You are one of few public figures wearing them. How long have you been wearing them?

Thanks! I was on the swim team as a kid so I’ve had the occasion to wear them since then. I started to wear them recreationally some of the time after I graduated from high school.

What makes you choose swim briefs over other types of swimwear?

I like wearing all kinds of swimwear.  I think there is a time and place for it all. I like a nice, fitted, solid colored trunk when I’m in the mood for a more classic, stylish look.  Other times, its summer in Chicago and I’m on the boats with my friends and it’s not so important for me to look stylish or modest.  I wear a higher cut brief because I like the way I look and feel in them. I do it for myself.  I have a rectangular shaped body, meaning that my shoulders, hips, and waist are all about the same size. I may be totally wrong on this, but higher cut briefs seem to help give me some shape and separation between my torso and my legs.  My upper thighs are pretty large, so wearing a high cut brief seems to help to emphasize my legs and detract from my wide hips.  But I’m no expert on this, it can just be my own warped perception causing me to see myself this way lol.

Has your celebrity status ever made you think twice about wearing a swim brief in pubic?

Well I’m not sure I can be considered a celebrity at this level, but yes, to some small degree I’m a public figure. I’m aware that, when I wear that kind of swimwear, there is potential for some of the blogs to pick it up, and most of the time I’m not looking for all that kind of attention specifically so it probably does, to some degree, factor in
to my decision to wear briefs, but at the end of the day, I still have to live my life and sometimes just do what I want without worrying about what other people may say.

How do you feel about the media coverage you receive when you post a pic in a brief?

It’s all in good fun and I don’t take it too seriously. I don’t ask anyone to post those kinds of things but it does create the possibility that someone, who was unaware of me before, ends up becoming a fan, buys music, and attends a live performance, which is how I make money to eat and pay my bills. So I have to be happy for that reason.

Though one probably wouldn’t draw this conclusion if their only source of information about me is some of these sites, I’ve done more interesting things (I think) in these last 2 years than stand on a boat in a little bathing suit with my friends: I have managed to carve my own unique path as an out artist by jump-starting my career with a self-produced, self-financed viral music video. I have since traveled all over the world to perform my original music and giving talks on LGBTQ issues. I’ve been on national television multiple times. I have been interviewed by people like Larry King. I ran the 3rd most successful music Kickstarter of all time. My independently released debut album “All-American Boy” sold over 10,000 copies in the first week and made it the 3rd best selling independent album that week. Best of all, I have been able to connect with people in the unique way only singer/songwriters can. I have sat with the people who have been moved and positively affected by my presence as an out artist making the kind of music I do.

I don’t expect most people to care about any of that, but for those of you at all interested in any part of my journey, I suggest you follow me on my social media accounts (listed below). You will get a more accurate, multi-dimensional look at my life and work that way. :

In your pictures I think one of the briefs was Andrew Christian, do you have any favorite brands you like to wear? Grand6

I like all different kinds! I haven’t received any compensation or cross promotion for the brands I’ve worn, but maybe I should start, with all the press this has gotten 😉

Has anyone in social media or in person giving you a hard time about wearing them, either in general or in public?

I try not to pay too much attention. At some point in life it’s important to realize that no matter what you do, people are going to have something to say about it so you may as well do/wear what makes you happy. I’ve seen a small number of gay men criticize my choice of swimwear for being immodest and ‘stereotypically gay.’ People are entitled to feel however they feel, but again, I wear what I wear for me and not for them; because it makes me feel good. I’m not looking for everyone’s approval all of the time. There is a time and place for modesty, but, for me at least, a hot summer day in Chicago, on a boat with a bunch of other gay dudes is not one of them.  And frankly I don’t care what some may consider to be a gay stereotype or not, and anyone using that as some kind of jab is probably grappling with their own internalized homophobia. I wear what makes me happy.

What would you say to a guy who maybe on the fence on wearing them? Should he or shouldn’t he?

I would say: do what makes you happy and don’t be so worried about everyone else. Remember that everyone is far more concerned with what is going on in their own world than what you are wearing.  Some people like them, and some people don’t.  I think because it has traditionally been seen as a taboo, the guys that do wear them, and wear them well, are seen to be more confident. And confidence always makes a person more sexy.

1525172_10152106668689375_1244215348_nIt’s always sad to see a company close up shop in the world of underwear. The world of men’s underwear really is a small world. Everyone tends to know everyone at brands and stores. It is for the most part a friendly world. I never thought there would come a time when there wouldn’t be an UnderGear

It started back in the 70’s when the International Male catalogue was released. If you didn’t come of age in the 80’s you may not know the International Male. It was the main catalogue that had clothes and underwear. Some of the clothes were a bit out there, like the pirate shirt! But it always had, for the time, a bigger selection of underwear. This was way before the internet made underwear super easy to buy. Back in the day you had to call in and order or mail it in the order form if you were shy.1625475_10152175317054375_1236528376_n

Also in the 80’s International Male used to have a physical store in California. I used to think of going to California and shopping the store and how that would be so awesome to shop all the designs I see in person. I never made it to the store and it would be many years before I finally got to California.

International Male finally created the UnderGear catalogue that sold exclusively underwear and gear! I remember them announcing this and it was like I won the lottery! Here is this company devoting an entire catalogue to my love! What was not to like about this. I tried to find when it split off but was unable to find the exact year. But if I remember correctly it was in the 90’s.

Undergear/International Male used to be the main place to find new brands. Some of the brands I found through them were Mundo Unico, Go Softwear, and the list goes on. It was a big deal to be carried in the UnderGear catalogue. In the 90’s they carried big brands as well as their own brands. Recently much of what they carried was their own brands and just a few outside brands at the end. I can’t tell you how many new brands I found through them. It was the enabler to my underwear addiction!

You maybe asking how much of an underwear obsession I had back in the day. Well I’m not ashamed to admit this but I had and International Male credit card! Yes there were such things back in the day. I couldn’t have been more than 18 and had a $200 limit! It felt like I struck gold, here was this credit card just for gear! I used to place orders about every month, pay it down and charge it back up!

After I started UNB I got a chance to work with UnderGear. They were fun to work with and I enjoyed it. We did many reviews and profiles of their underwear. I was closest to them when I first started UNB. But over the years I could still contact them and get info I needed.

Will I miss them? You bet I will! Its hard to see them go after so many years. Underwear is my passion and it’s like a friend that leaving us. Whether you liked their gear or not they had a huge impact on the world of men’s underwear/gear. Without them being a trailblazer for men’s underwear we may not have some of what we have today!

If you do miss them let us know. I want to run a post on how UnderGear impacted your underwear buying and discovery. Email us or hit us up on social media!

NOTE: I haven’t heard any confirmation as to when they will be closing. I haven’t confirmed with them directly all my contacts are gone but all my sources have agree and Out Magazine has run a story about them closing

_MG_2254Should I? We’ve all said it, whether while standing in a great underwear store or clicking through pages online. Should I? I mean, I’ll NEVER actually wear it. Will I? I just don’t see the point if I’m not going to use it. Right?

All I will say is: If you get it, you’ll find a reason, a time, an occasion to wear em if you want to.

Sometimes we come across those pairs, the leather straps, the unsupportive mesh the zippers that we secretly want to have even if it’s just to have it. One of the first pairs like that for me was a leather jockstrap with a zipper right down the pouch. I don’t remember the brand, I don’t remember where I got it and sadly, I don’t have that pair anymore. Did I ever find a time to wear it? You bet I did.

Deciding to buy a piece of what might be called fetish or erotic wear comes down to the same thing as any high quality underwear. Will it make YOU the wearer, feel good? If it will make you feel sexy, then forget about the potential viewer.  Forget about a potential situation.  If it gives you a spring in your step then it’s 100% worth it. This is about you and what makes YOU feel hotter than the sun.

For those who are really concerned about the usefulness…if there is a willy there is a way-y.  Fetish wear or leather is not something that everyone uses or incorporates into their every day or their bedroom time, that’s okay. That does not mean, however, that you shouldn’t let yourself try owning one. Should I? Will I? Right? It’s okay to just, have it. To know that it’s there in a drawer and then one day you’ll mention it to your date, spouse, significant other, as a joke and the joke will become real and even if it’s just for that one time, worth it.

To date I have a handful of those pairs and I like having them. I have some black all mesh Male Basics briefs. I have a Petite-Q c-string. I have a generic zippered speedo. I have a blue and white Pulse jockstrap with mesh pouch, and more. Have I ever used any of them as regular underwear or to spice things up? Absolutely. Do I use them or wear them very often? Absolutely not. But I could, because I have them.

Should you? Sure, why not! Find one that the thought of having secretly excites you and then muster the courage and get it.

So if you’re thinking that Fetish Friday isn’t for you, it could be if you let it.

cellblock-13-ambush

Cellblock 13 has literally ambushed Jockstrap Central with the arrival of their latest super hot collection of fetish forward jockstraps, shorts and singlets complete with contoured pouches and fully functional, “easy access” zippers, strategically placed in all the right areas. Made with a high quality sleek soft and super stretchy nylon and spandex designed to hug and stretch enough to show off your body and bulge to perfection. The Ambush Collection stays true to Cellblock 13’s masculine fetish roots, which guarantees that whatever you’re concealing always has the element of surprise.

The jockstrap is the simplest of the designs with the above mentioned contoured pouch, contrasting piping around the outside and fully functional vertical zipper which not only reinforces the bulge but provides easy access (or exit). With two one inch jock “straps” round the back and a full two inch masculine waistband with horizontal sports stripping and bold Cellblock 13 logo.

Our favorite, the Ambush Wrestling Singlet has a base color of black and starts at the shoulders and swoops down in a dangerous descent to the treasure chest below – the low rise zippered pouch is highlighted with white piping around the edge in case you didn’t know where to look. Around the back you’ll find a contrasting rear panel with another handy centered vertical zipper. The visual is stunning and even more so when unzipped.

Similarly, the Ambush Short is a low rise bicycle short with legs that end just above the knee. Like the singlet, white piping edge the zippered pouch. Around the back you’ll find a rear panel also with contrasting piping complete with another centered vertical zipper that let’s guys know whether or not you’re open for business.

If the body and bulge hugging spandex doesn’t get you noticed then simply unzip to ambush them with a full frontal (and rear) assault. A line like Ambush is a perfect fit for Jockstrap Central with their we-show-everything stance, uncensored original photography and never-shy models. Be sure to check them out.
