Following the successful launch in June of their antimicrobial InCopper range, Chilean underwear brand Ergowear is continuing with that success by  introducing new color lines for its MAX Contrast briefs and boxers, which have already sold out twice!

Blue and Red are the newest hot and vibrant colors added to the collection of ergonomically-designed underwear that come in various color combinations (Blue/White; White/Blue; Red/White; White/Red), with the additional availability of Black as a color option. These color additions are a lead-in to upcoming color options for Ergowear’s PLUS (Pouch Lifted and UnSeamed) line.

“We added blue and red to our collection to replace the bland, basic white underwear offered by every other brand,” said Ergowear Founder, Rodrigo Herzberg. “And because of the success of these colors, we’ll soon be adding five new colors to our PLUS line, as well.”

The MAX Contrast line includes features such as the 3-dimensional pouch and Ergowear’s signature 1.5-inch waistband. There’s smooth seam technology on every seam, and the line features an ergonomically-designed pouch created for shape-enhancement and a comfortable lifting effect. The cotton/elastane blend ensures softness and moisture management, along with perfect fit, support and shape retention.

Ergowear MAX briefs and boxers ($22.60 – $24.80) are available in Blue, Red and Black at www.ergowear.com. You can also visit the site for additional information.

It’s always intriguing to learn of new manufacturers who are investigating new technologies and applying them to stylish and functional new fabrics.  Having the opportunity to review my first pair of Ergowear underwear, I did a little research on the company and this specific pair—the InCopper Max Premium Boxer.  This particular line offered by Ergowear is differentiated by the antimicrobial fabric that they call InCooper.  This material was specifically developed by Ergowear and takes advantage of the latest innovation in copper antimicrobial year technology to help protect your skin against infections by microorganisms.  According to Ergowear, the powerful germicidal properties of this fabric do not decrease over time or with washing cycles.

In terms of construction and esthetics, the boxer is designed with a three-dimensional pouch with the intent of offering an exclusive shape-enhancing and yet comfortable lifting effect.   As shown in the picture, the pair comes in a thin pin stripping fabric in a flesh tone color.  In my opinion, a flesh tone color is not flattering on any skin tone regardless of body shape or size.  The pair I tested was well constructed and fit quite well with no problems to mention.   The 1 1/3” waistband offers extra support and a more athletic look.  The Ergowear logo travels across the front of the waistband and thus far, continues to keep its shape after multiple washes.

My only concern with this pair, besides the color choice, is the manufacturer’s ability to create something that is both fabric technology forward and crafting a boxer that further enhances the pouch that is successful—stick with one or the other.  These contrived attempts to create an enhancing pouch leave a lot to be desired.  It appears that every manufacturer is on the same bandwagon which unfortunately is the current trend.  Either you’re anatomically blessed or you’re not.  Gentlemen, feel comfortable in your own body and let a good pair of functional underwear speak for itself.   What’s next, two little Viagra pills with each pair?

The Underwear of the Week this week is something that I think is a lot of fun, it’s the Ergowear Max Light Brief. I love a pair with a great pouch, and wanted to showcase some really great pouch underwear.

If you aren’t familiar with Ergowear, they are a company that is ergonomically designed to fit a man’s body. They have taken the time to really research and make some really great undies. They may look a little strange, and you maybe hesitant to try them, but once you put them on you will LOVE them. Ok, maybe I’m projecting that, but I think the pouch just fits really great. If you love undies that make you feel like you aren’t wearing any, these are definitely for you. .

Here is some info from International Jock:

Ergowear’s Max Light brief is fitted with an amazing three-dimensional pouch. It is ergonomically designed to perfectly fit your legs and hug your buns. The pouch provides an exclusive shape-enhancing yet very comfortable lifting effect with extra room up front. The signature 1 1/4 inch waistband gives it an masculine, athletic look.

They are made from the Modal Lycra material. That makes them fit so great, Modal has become a great new fabric for underwear makers.  These can be bought from International Jock for $20.90. They come in red and blue. The line has more styles so if you want a boxer brief or more check out the International Jock site!

There have been some really great trends in men’s underwear this past year.  I think we saw a few changes to the men’s underwear market that will have an impact on the future.  It was sort of a break out year, meaning more companies took chances by stepping outside the box.  To me, that is a very good thing.  There is nothing worse than going back to the 90’s of the white/grey/black period.  This year, some of the more interesting trends were enhancing, pink, and mesh, and the break-out of Australian companies.

ENHANCING

I think the first trend of the year was enhancing underwear.  I noticed it at the end of 2008 and then a wave of companies came out with new styles that either enhanced the front or the back.  Andrew Christian really embraced this with both the Flashback and Show-it lines.  This proved to be a good decision as these two styles were constantly sold out this past year, making them the best selling enhancement underwear of the year.

That is not to say others didn’t produce other enhancement underwear styles.  Proof of this is, if you take a look at the International Jock website, you will see an entire section dedicated to enhancing underwear.  This fact alone tells you we have a big shift in the design of underwear.  The companies that seem to focus on enhancing are Tulio, Ergowear, Obviously, Joe Snyder, Calvin Klein, C-IN2, Cocksox, and many more!

When I first saw enhancing underwear, I was a little skeptical.  I wasn’t sure this would take off, but it did and in a big way.  Pardon the pun!  When we spoke to Sean Ashby at AussieBum, he noted that many of the buyers of the enhancing styles were straight guys.  They wanted to take what they have and make it seem bigger!  I thought for sure it would have been more the gay male population that wanted this enhancing technology, but without regard to sexuality, enhancing has changed the face of men’s underwear and will be around for a long time to come.

PINK

Next trend that seemed to take off is pink.  We wrote in an article a while back that pink is the new black.  I think pink is a great color for men’s underwear.  I know there are a lot of you out there saying, “I would NEVER wear pink underwear!”  The reason I like it and think it took off the way it did is it’s simply that…unexpected!  When you think of men’s underwear, you think of blues, reds, whites, and other bold masculine colors.  You don’t think of something as pink or pastel being quite manly enough.  Pink, however, came into its own last in 2009.

The trend started a few years back with Baskit‘s Pink Jock.  It then sort of disappeared and then returned strong this year.  There were two companies I really noticed that used pink, being Timoteo and C-IN2. Timoteo used pink in its low rise briefs and jockstrap.  Both were equally as hot where as C-IN2 used pink in its own line.  They created the Prime line containing briefs, trunks, and t-shirts, all in pink.  Both styles are still available.

Will pink live on this next year?  I think pink will stick around but I don’t think it will be as big as in 2009.  I think the release of pink will make way for many other colors never before thought of for men’s underwear.

MESH

The next trend is Mesh.  Granted, mesh can look cheap, but many companies made it very sexy and fun this year.  I have seen mesh, over the years in the back of a magazine (yes I’m dating myself), and it never really looked comfortable.  They were the kind designed to be taken off, if you know what I mean.  This is not the case of the new mesh underwear of today.  They are designed for comfort and sex appeal.

Mesh really made it mainstream this year with companies such as Andrew Christian, Go Softwear, and Aussiebum creating various styles.  This year also brought new players into the underwear business. BumGear is a line that has mostly mesh underwear that is fun and creative.  The best thing I like about BumGear is they are very colorful.  Most mesh I have seen in the past has been plain black or white.  I love that BumGear has put thought into colors and focuses on different styles.

If you didn’t hear our podcast with AussieBum, they created their mesh pair as a way of getting a certain model to wear them.  They weren’t serious about producing them, but after they had the model try them on, they were on to something and decided to create it as a line.

Mesh, I believe, will continue to be strong into 2010.  The mesh segment mainly came into its own at the end of 2009.  More and more companies are releasing them and I hope we continue to see bold and creative styles.

AUSTRALIAN UNDERWEAR

I think of this year as the break out year for Australian underwear companies.  We are all familiar with AussieBum.  The company has been around for ten years and has created an image of a fashion forward company.  They never stand still and something new is always coming out.  One thing I predict for AussieBum is they are soon to be a major player in the US market, if not already.  I think they currently have an influence on some designs, but that influence is going to grow.  If they were able to land a major department store to be the exclusive retailer, such as Macy’s, Bloomingdales, or Nordstrom, they would take off even greater and obtain a larger market share.

AussieBum is not the only company we saw out of Australia.  The other ones that seem to be growing are Tribe, Obviously, and Cocksox.  I know there are even more underwear companies in Australia, but these are the ones making it into the world market.  Cocksox is one of our favorites here at UNB.  As you know, I love undies with a good pouch and that is what Cocksox is known for supplying, hence the name.  Everything I have tried from them has been awesome.  They make great undies that fit a guy as underwear should.

The next company is Tribe.  They are stepping outside the box of traditional underwear.  They are doing mesh, patterns, and different fabrics.  They are relatively new and I think we will see more from them in the next few years.

Last, but certainly and never least is Obviously.  Obviously is another one with a great pouch.  When I first tried them, I wasn’t sure what I thought.  After wearing them for a day, I greatly appreciated their ergonomic design and unbelievable support.

All three companies aren’t afraid to do things differently in the areas of style, colors, and pouch design.  They have an audience that is willing to do new things.  We, in America, seem to have buyers who settle with functionality of underwear instead of fashion.  They need underwear and get the most inexpensive brands to do the job.  Times, however, are changing!  I know many guys in the states who have ordered all three brands and had them shipped.  Obviously now has American distributors such as International Jock and a few other sites.  Stay tuned and we will see more Australian companies emerge and I think all three mentioned will get much bigger on the world market and not only in the states.

These are only a few trends of the year.  I would love to hear what you guys thought were big trends for 2009.  What do you think we missed or overlooked?  I didn’t want the article to be too long so I just picked four!  There are so many more we could have chosen!

I am an underwear addict. There, I said it! As you know, if you’re a long time reader of the site, I have been into underwear since I was about 13 years old. Growing older, I have found what I really like…underwear with pouches. I love a pouch that is designed to hold your junk like a glove. I am going to discuss some favorites I have come across over the years.

Underwear, for me, is more than simply something you wear. It’s something that most of us have on for 18 hours a day if not more. It is a fashion accessory and something that makes you feel sexy! I usually feel my best when I wear a pair of undies that fit well. And, let’s face the facts. It shows off the goods too! I don’t think I’m alone on that belief.

Here are some of my favorite undies with pouches. As I say this. I don’t have great quantities of these, but I do enjoy them and have tried them over the years. I know this list will grow as more and more companies are doing ergonomically designed undies

yhst-68678113255667_2072_51221151

Unico

Unico is probably one of my favorites. They are one of the few undies designers whose entire collections catch my attention. I prefer briefs but their boxers and trunks both feature the amazing built-in pouch. When I first tried on a pair, getting them on clearance at Male Basics, I was hooked. I purchased the Mesh Briefs and Red Trunks. They fit me perfectly, held everything in place, and really showed off what I had. The mesh pair was Date Nite undies and the trunks were everyday wear. Unico obviously had the right guy in mind when they designed them.

The styles they offer are briefs, trunks, boxers, jocks, and thongs. I have tried all of them and love them equally. The favorite is the brief which I am wearing as I write this article. The jock really surprised me. I didn’t know if they would be able to pull the amazing pouch off in a jock form. I’m glad I was proved wrong. The trunk and boxer are similar; the best part being that they don’t ride up your thigh. Remember when boxer briefs first appeared? Do you remember the Calvin Klein ones? I HATED those because they gave no support and they bunched and rode up the leg. I gave mine away since I couldn’t deal with them. These from Unico stay in place and provide ultimate support.

C-IN2 Bamboo

The main reason I tried the Bamboo briefs was the Trophy Shelf design. As they said, it is used to put your junk on display. These didn’t disappoint! They did exactly that and the bamboo material fit and felt so wonderful. The only down side to the first pairs is that they would tear easily. From the first four I purchased, I have only one lonely pair left without holes in the pouch. I hear the new bamboo is a bit more resistant to holes. I, however, haven’t tried them but I am sure the fit continues to be amazing.

The choices from the Bamboo line I’ve tried are the brief, jock, and trunk. If you like briefs, I certainly recommend the Bamboo Slider Brief. Since they have done away with the original line, the styles you can buy are the Slider Brief, Rider Boxer, and Street Jock. I haven’t tried the boxer. From the originals, I had the great fitting trunk. The brief and jock both have similar fits and fell great throughout the day.

Page_body_product_PBR_lightblue_contrast

Obviously

Obviously is a newcomer to the field of undies. They have ergonomically designed undies that I was a bit unsure about the fit the first time I tried them. They sort of squeezed the junk and felt weird. Lucky for me, I always have an open mind. I wore them throughout the day and they fit well. If you go to their site, you will see how they design the undies and are constantly coming out with more in-your-face designs. They have recently come to the US and I see them growing into an important competitor in the world of men’s underwear.

I have only tried the brief by Obviously. I want to try more of the styles they offer. The material is very soft and all together fits very well. The pouch conforms and, to me, molds to your junk. It’s a weird feeling at first, then as you wear it more, this becomes a non-issue. Some of the other guys on the site have loved the other styles such as the boxer and thong. They have boxers, briefs, thongs, and jocks.

ESXD05-1

Erogwear

Ergowear is one of the first ergonomically designed undies I ever tired. I was given a pair from a friend because he didn’t like them. They were string bikinis and I had them till they wore out. I was so sad when I finally had to throw them away. They don’t have the initial style but they have branched out into many more. I have tried some of the new styles but not many. I would love the chance to try more.

From Ergowear, I have tried the string bikini and the X3D brief. I loved the feel of the new pair. I did like the fit and the whole line has been redesigned since my initial bikinis. They aren’t exactly easy to find in the US other than online. They have all the styles expected from an underwear designer. The whole line by Erogwear is ergonomically designed to support a man and fit him so that it doesn’t feel as if he’s wearing underwear.

cx01_red_side

Cocksox

How could we not have Cocksox on a list of undies with amazing pouches? This is another example of how I got undies from a friend. He gave me an XL pair and they are a bit loose. I think Cocksox is one of the few pairs to which I advise to go smaller when in doubt. The ones I was given fit OK, but we got some great Cocksox to review for UNB and I received the classic brief. Again, it fit like a glove. They were amazing. Plus, Cocksox underwear is designed to show off the goods. If you look at their site you will definitely understand!

Cocksox is, I have to say, one of my all time favorites. They have a great fit about them. I own two pairs of CX01 briefs that are in heavy rotation in my daily underwear selection. I am very interested in trying more of their undies. They have some great looking trunks, bikinis, and thongs. We’re being told that jocks are coming soon! I think a jock with their pouch would be amazing. One interesting bit of information for Cocksox has to do with the size of the pouch. They have two sizes, being original or snug. Even if you’re not gifted in the junk department, you can still fill out a pair of Cocksox!

The one thing all these underwear brands have in common is they are form fitting. They are all designed to support your junk and make you forget you’re wearing underwear. I believe this is the best thing a pair of underwear can do! You can get all these in the US and around the world. Some companies may only be available online, but are worth the wait to receive them! I would love to hear some of your favorite choices in pouch undies. Do you agree with my picks or do you like another brand? Let us guys know here at Underwear News Briefs.

MojaveCutawayFull09

I am fairly new to my undies obsession even though I have had a lifelong interest in them. I have been doing some online research of the different companies that sell various brands of undies. In years past, because I would get bored with my current undies, I prd_ergowear-max-light-jock-blackwould search out different sites to see what I was missing. I wasn’t always successful in finding online companies with a good variety. Two sites I have found that I think are worthy of keeping in my favorites are UnderGear and International Jock.

These two online stores seem to carry the best and most diverse selection from the many companies. I love the fact that you can go there and select your shopping preference by style or brand. If I am in the mood for bikinis, I don’t have to go through all the other styles to pick what I want. If I find a nice brand, I can see what else they have to offer.

Both sites are pleasing to the eye and easy to navigate. This makes for an enjoyable shopping experience. With UnderGear, once you become a member, you will be able to add things to your shopping cart and return later to make the purchase. I love that I can take my time in making my decisions.

International Jock is nicely laid out and you can make your selection(s) of brand or style from the left hand column.  It is easy to navigate and find what you desire. I did not see anything that indicates it saves your shopping cart when you close your browser but I did a little test run and it seems to do just that.

pinkjock

I love internet shopping and it is becoming easier every day.  These two sites show true customer service in the way they are laid out and how they save your shopping cart for when you return to complete your purchase.  You don’t have to deal with cashiers who have had a bad day.  You don’t have to ask a sales clerk if there are more in the storeroom.  You don’t have to wander the aisles looking for the perfect pair of undies in your size.  That said, the next time I have some expendable cash, I will be making a trip to these two sites to find my next pair of undies.

EDITORS NOTE: Mark is just discovering underwear and he’s going to document his discovery through underwear. This includes brands, shops and sites he’s discovering and interested in.

Sorry for the delay in the Underwear of the Week, but the pair we choose this week is the Ergowear Plus line. The only pouch underwear that doesn’t have a seam in the front. If you like to wear undies with out a pouch these are for you!

International Jock is proud to be the only North American reseller offering Ergowear’s new PLUS line of mens underwear styles with seamless contoured pouches. Previously, creating a pouch for the male anatomy has always required an often uncomfortable and distracting seam down the center of the support pouch to achieve the rounded shape. Now, for the first time ever, Ergowear has created a line of form-fitting underwear with a 3-dimensional rounded pouch that offers the desired concave pouch contour without a center vertical seam : Ergowear PLUS

Made from a blend of 90% cotton and 10% Lycra, the PLUS line offers the softness of cotton along with the support and shape retention of Lycra. The proprietary manufacturing process used to create Ergowear’s exclusive seamless pouch design stretches the fabric into a rounded shape while also largely neutralizing the Lycra in the pouch area so that the genitals are not compressed.

Ergowear’s PLUS line offers uniquely comfortable ergonometric styling, and the world’s first seamless male pouch up front.

Dead Good Undies sent out this to inform everyone that Ergowear is back in stock!

Apologies for all for another newsletter in the same day BUT I know a lot of people were waiting to know when we were getting the new Ergowear PLUS range of ergonomical design underwear and I didn’t want to wait until next week to send out the news that THEY ARE NOW HERE……

Whats new with the this range from Ergowear is that they’ve come up with this rather nifty design that takes their previous ergonomic style to the next level with a seamless front pouch which gives a fuller, rounder profile.

Personally I love ergowear underwear and in fact im wearing a pair of the PLUS boxers today not only because of their design which is soooo comfy but also because they are a company that actually listens!!! For example when I had my samples for beta testing from them I commented that with the boxers there was a seam across the rear that I felt would of been uncomfortable (and it was). 3 days later Rod from Ergowear is in a Skype Video call with me from Chile showing me the changes they made based on my comments. How cool is that???? a company that listens and then reacts so quickly.

Anyway enough of my excited ramblings as it’s a Friday and the weekend is but a few hours away.
So there you go just pop over to www.deadgoodundies.com to check out why im making such a fuss about the Ergowear PLUS range.

International Jock is pleased to announce the immediate availability of a revolutionary new line of underwear from Ergowear.

Mens underwear. styles with contoured pouches have always offered men the room and comfort they desire. Previously, creating these pouches has always required an often uncomfortable and distracting seam down the center of the support pouch to achieve the rounded shape. Now, for the first time ever, Ergowear has created a line of form-fitting underwear with a 3-dimensional rounded pouch that offers the desired concave pouch contour without a vertical seam in the center: Ergowear PLUS

International Jock offers the new PLUS line in brief, bikini, thong and boxer brief styles in both black and white.

esxd05b-f1Some of my favorite underwear in the past has been Ergowear. When I had the chance to review the X3D brief, I became very excited. Until the ones I owned wore out, they were some of the best underwear I had ever worn and I loved them. I had not purchased any replacement briefs, but our friends at Dead Good Undies sent us some to review.

Dead Good Undies states in their Ergowear X3D description:

“Ergowear is the perfect range for guys who value support and comfort from their men’s underwear. This X3D brief is ergonomically designed to position your tackle to keep you comfortable and supported. The specially contoured pouch lifts everything away from your body while maintaining a natural feeling position. The gorgeously soft and stretchy fabric is available in Black or White, with each mini Brief dressed at the front centre with an Ergowear ribbon logo. Also available in the X3D range is a Boxer, Bikini or Thong, all in Black or White.”

I wore the briefs throughout the day and they didn’t wear as great as those previously owned. Granted, these are good underwear, but my review is tainted by my fond memories of those bikinis from the past. The best thing about the briefs is the pouch. I love briefs with a great pouch, granting support during all day wear, which these proved to do perfectly. I ran quite a few errands the day I wore the X3D briefs and they caused no problems with fit and placement. The nylon/spandex type blend fit my body well and the waistband and leg openings caused not binding or twisting.

One thing in particular I did not like was that after wearing the briefs for one day, a seam was coming undone. I don’t believe this is an overall problem with the brand, but one isolated incidence. I’m not going to hold this against them. Overall, they are a great pair of briefs that I will wear again.
