Men’s Underwear

The popularity of thongs is off the chart going into 2017. It’s the new must have style for guys. This is not just for gay guys, the straight guys have take up the thong. Look at our staff TheBottomDrawer, UndiesDude and the Thonged Ginger are all straight guys who LOVE thongs. They are working on a special project for UNB that should be out soon. It’s 100% thong centric, so stay tuned!

Thongs have always had a steady group of guys who loved thongs. Brands such as Joe Snyder and Gregg Homme have always seen loyal thong customers. Now, more brands are starting to make them. Anywhere from regular thongs to erotic ones. New brands that have great thongs are BodyAware and Intymen.

Why do straight guys love thongs?

I have a theory and my guys on the site can def respond to this in another post. I think the pair has had the “gay” label for so long. It’s a pair guys aren’t supposed to wear. They are “women’s underwear. That’s the general population’s view of them. However, there are guys who don’t follow the norms of society and want to feel sexy.

A few years ago, lace started to get big in the men’s market. This allowed guys to not have to conform to the boxers and boxer briefs guys were supposed to wear. Once guys started to discover great underwear, they wanted more undies that feel amazing. I know we have plenty of readers who tried them reluctantly. Thinking it was like a wedgie or going to be uncomfortable. Only to be pleasantly surprised by the fit and comfort of the thong.

It’s great to see guys try new styles in underwear! It doesn’t matter if you are gay/bi/straight. It’s about being who you are and owning it. Our guys own that they love thongs. They are spreading the word about the style. I would love to know why you guys LOVE thongs!

If you were upset that the Bike jock is gone. Don’t worry, there is a new brand on the market called Gym. It’s a new line from Jockstraps.com for those who enjoy a classic jock. Here is what they told us about the line:

Introducing GYM Jockstrap brand. When Jockstraps.com received word that Bike was discontinuing making jockstraps, they were shocked because BIKE is their best-selling brand. After doing a lot of research Jockstraps.com was able to track down the manufacturer. After making some slight changes to the product, introducing some new colors, and creating some new clamshell inserts, a new brand called GYM was born. Currently the GYM brand is available in 3 different products including the 1” GYM Swim/Run Jockstrap, 2” Workout Jockstrap and 3” Old School Jockstrap. The 1” is available in White, Black and Royal Blue. The 2” jockstrap is available in White, Black, Royal and Grey. The 3” version is a remake of the Bike Vintage Throwback Edition but now comes in White, Black and Heather Grey. Sizes run from small all the way up to 3XL. Available at Jockstraps.com.

We don’t cover much bodybuilding gear. However, as our readership expands we plan to cover more things in the gear world. Egick is a really interesting company. They have done some great swimwear and underwear this year. We have shown you a few things and will continue to cover them.

I saw this pair on Instagram. It’s in heavy rotation on their Instagram being so new. It made me head over to the Egick site and take a look. This pair is designed for bodybuilders and posing on stage. That doesn’t mean you can’t get a pair if you want something smaller for the beach or to tan in.

This is their official description:

Our Sexy White BodyBuilding Posing Gear Made From Comfortable Strech Shiny Fabric. Great Sexy Shape For Posing On Stage Or Any Other Place. Perfect Adjustment. Fit to Your Body Perfectly. Thanks to Our Special Cut and Shape You Will Always Feel STRONG, Sexy And Sensual.

The cut of these is smaller than normal swim briefs many of you are used too. It’s designed to show off every muscle. That means there is no drawstring waistband. It’s an elastic waist, if you wear swimming, take note.  It could cause problems if you’re super active.

The pair retails for $65. Some of you may go whoa! But this is specially designed for bodybuilders. If you are in this market, it may be a good investment for you to purchase one of these or maybe two. Meaning the legs and waist are made for your proportions over regular pairs of swimwear.

Lastly, the sizing is Medium through X-large. Which is a 28-36 waist.  Sizing is made for the target market. I don’t think many bodybuilders will be over 36 inches unless you’re really tall. But I could be wrong.

If you are interested head over to the Egick site to see this and more.

If the brand name 2wink or the sizzling hot jockbrief with front and rear cutouts didn’t give you a clue to what they’re really selling, the name Fuckjock surely has to grab your attention. The Aussie brand is not shy whatsoever about putting sexuality front and center in everything they do. Their newest release makes that well known from start to finish.

Available in sultry combos of red with black trim and waistband, as well as black with red trim, this jockbrief is all about ‘access’. The front features a keyhole cutout just below the waist, convenient for any quick access you need. The rear highlights an opening clearly designed and marketed for fun. You can do pretty much anything in these sexy undies, and that’s not an exaggeration. Or a bad thing.

Yes, the rear is a jockbrief similiar to what you’ve seen before. But 2wink makes no attempt to hide the fact that these briefs are built for the times when you want to have sexy undies be a part of the action. And with the cutouts front and rear, plus the in your face name, this is explicitly being marketed as a special pair of undies. To make these even better, they’re made out of a soft, stretchy bamboo/cotton blend that stretches and cradles you perfectly. You’ll look amazing from all angles in this pair!

2wink may not be a mainstream brand here in the US, but with free worldwide shipping(!!), these are too hot to miss. Get them now and watch the reaction when someone special gets ‘access’ to the hottest brief this season.

Last week we had the Bottom Drawer talk about bodysuits. We had to ask a brand creating some of the sexiest and most interesting bodysuits a few questions about the new trend.

Why do you think there is a trend in bodysuits?

The form-fitting nature of bodysuits has quite a sexy appeal to it, and the fact that it can be worn as underwear or as part of an outfit follows the trend of clothes being multi-purpose, which is important for anyone who enjoys thrifty fashion.

Guys are stepping out and why do you think they are choosing BodyAware bodysuits?

I think they’re choosing us because we offer so much in the realm of bodysuits! Whether you need it for fitness, to show some skin with a sheer fabric, or just be comfortable in some rayon, we have so many different kinds that fill any bodysuit cravings you may have.

What makes your suits different from others on the market?

Ours are different because of just how they show off all of your beautiful assets, as well as the innovation that we attempt with each bodysuit, like how our YogaAware Bodysuit has a thong back, and how our V-Neck Ribbed Bodysuit could easily look like a trendy t-shirt if you wore some pants over it. No matter what we do with our bodysuits, we always intend to make them sexy, so that you can feel sexy while you wear them.

Here are some of the bodysuits BodyAware has currently:

D.Hedral is out with a new line of underwear. The Evo line is their first hybrid seamless underwear. I really like the look of the underwear, it is simple which can be really elegant at times. The Evo line is available now. This is a new line to me so I have not got to experience it before.

The Evo line features no seams on the underwear. The line also features D.Hedral’s patented anglefit technology. The anglefit technology gives the underwear structured support, while allowing the underwear to stretch independently, and pulls upward to provide contoured support. The anglefit technology is made to be figure hugging. The company says investing in tailored clothing shouldn’t stop at your suit. The pairs are knitted seamlessly with lightweight Italian cotton microfiber. Every product uses materials that 100% made in Italy and are all manufactured by Italian companies. The Evo line comes in both briefs and trunks. You can use this pair of underwear for anything from the gym to work to a night of fun.

I really enjoy the look of this underwear. It is a classic look but the company ups it with their anglefit technology. The fact that the underwear is made to hug your figure is a nice feature since it will help people with and without a butt look good. I love the fact the waistband matches the color of the rest of the underwear, and the logo is the same color.

This is a nice line of underwear that is made without any real seams. The lack of seams and anglefit technology to help the underwear fit to your body and make you look good. The Evo line is available now on D.Hedrals website.

BRAND: D.Hedral Evo
PAIR: Briefs and Trunks
COLORS: White, Black, Navy
FABRIC: Italian cotton microfiber
SIZES: S/M and L/XL
COST: $41 for briefs, and $44 for trunks

This is something I had to share. Australian company Budgy Smuggler is doing a board short buy back! You heard me, they are giving guys money for their board shorts and want them to wear budgies instead. Brilliant idea. They said something awesome “We want guys to embrace the body they are in.” Which is something we stand behind. I hope we start to see more guys here in swim briefs soon. Hats off to Budgy Smuggler.

Bodysuits Have You Tried OneWho out there has tried bodysuits? I’m talking about the ones that look similar to a leotard and not full body. They fit in with bikini and thongs with their association of being feminine. They might get that rap even more so.

I have tried out a few about 10 years ago. The ones I tried had the tank top style cut top and I saw them as underwear and undershirt in one. I had a thong cut and two bikini/brief cuts. The only issue I had with the ones I tried is using the restroom. Two of the three would require you to remove your shirt to get your arms out of the bodysuit to pull it down to go potty. If you had to pee then you could slip yourself out the side. The other one had snaps in the crotch that was a better design for restroom use, but then you had to get them snapped again. If in a public bathroom at a urinal, people might wonder what you were doing.

For me they ended up being mainly sleepwear, since they would be a pain for restroom use away from the house. I did use one as base layer for cross-country skiing. I could also see them for short term wear like working out.

This post came about because UNBTim pointed out that he’s seeing more brands offering them like Bodyaware and Pistol Pete. That got me looking to see what is being offered out there in bodysuits for guys now. My one pair was from Bodyaware and was the one I liked best. They have added five bodysuit versions to their line recently. That brings their total to 9 different bodysuits. Two of the new ones have no opening between the legs, two have snap closures, and the one has full front zipper. What I like about some of the ones I’m seeing now is that they are making them look like shirts. Pistol Pete has ones that look like hoodies. Though most bodysuits look like they are tight fitting shirts. Even came across a site that you could get polo looking ones. Another brand that I see offering some bodysuits is Rufskin, which says theirs are ideal for high endurance exercise. They definitely do look that way.

In the end, the bodysuit never caught on with me. I do find the ones that are looking like shirts interesting, but I like my outwear shirt to be a looser fit. If they didn’t cost so much, maybe I would give them another try. At this point I do not want to pay that much for something I might not wear. What are your experiences with bodysuits that look like leotards?

I attended a boarding school in Florida during the 1970s and while there was a dress code, I discovered that I could express myself with underwear, and consequently found very early brands that used color and fabric that weren’t the typical white briefs that I had worn my entire life. I recall having a package of Hanes that were colorful, trimmed in contrasting colors, were soft, and cut in a very short boxer brief or trunk style. I literally wore them out!

During my college years, I lived in Chicago and discovered that some of the trendier department stores had more adventurous styles of underwear — Elance and Poco — and I started wearing colorful bikinis and briefs. Again, a similar theme, my exterior was either dictated by a work-related uniform or dress code; yet I could enjoy my freedom of expression with the layer closest to me! Plus…it made me feel sexy as hell! Still does! Hence, the REAL reason I love underwear — it’s fun to get dressed and it’s often the first thing I pick out! The ads with Jim Palmer and Marky Mark were huge incentive to expand my selections and they contributed to the idea that good men’s underwear was a mainstream commodity!

My first venture into high-quality underwear was Calvin Klein (no surprise!) but then discovered 2XIST, CIN2, N2N, Andrew Christian, Cocksox, and Obviously, which today, are my “go to” everyday underwear. I usually wear briefs but love to mix in a thong (CK and N2N) or a jock (N2N, Aussiebum, AC). I love quality, design, color, and pouch. I also like supporting brands and designers that are trying new things, pushing styles and fit.

NOTE: UNB Sandy is one of the newest members at UNB. He will be speaking to guys over 50, showing them no matter your age, you should wear great undies.

I’ve been following UNB for some time, and was wondering if you could recommend your favorite hang free / anatomically correct briefs? I’ve seen reviews of various hang free briefs on the site before (Alex’s review of the CSX Sports Brief comes to mind), but I was wondering if you could do a consolidated post on your favorite pairs (or just email me what you recommend)?

I got a couple pair of AC Almost Naked briefs a while back, along with the CSX Sports Brief, and really would love to branch out a bit more. Honestly, after trying these, I can’t go back to non-anatomically correct pouch underwear.

I know this was a bit long, but I’d really appreciate any suggestions you folks have.

UNBTim:

First, this question sparked our ASK UNB. I think it’s a good question as well. Ergonomically designed pouches are one of the hottest trends in men’s underwear. It’s a trend that I hope doesn’t go anywhere. I love an amazing pouches. We were asked about “hang free” pouches. For those of you who don’t know what this is, it’s a pouch that lets your boys hang naturally. There is no extreme pouch or lift.

One of my favorite brands over the years has been Ergowear. One pair that you should check out is the Ergowear Feel Vermouth Suave Bikini  – While the feel is not one of my favorites pouches from Ergowear I prefer the X3D pouch better. This is a more natural hang pouch from Ergowear. It still has great support but more of a natural feel. It’s not as restricting as some pouches out there.

Another company that does an amazing job with hang free pouches is Sukrew. They are still one of the new brands on the block. However, I have described their pouch as one that seems to have been on the market for years and refined. Unlike other pouches, this one doesn’t push up and show off. It lets you hang freely and feel great all through the day. This crosses all their designs. From the Sprinters, briefs, jocks and thongs. How they have done the pouch in all these is like witchcraft. If you’re a fan of briefs the Full Brief, you will like! If you buy the U-Brief, well, you won’t get any support. It has no pouch at all.

My last recommendation is anything from N2N Bodywear with the N-Hance pouch. This is a specially designed pouch from N2N. It comes on a variety of their styles. Right now is an odd time because they are closing out a lot of their underwear and a new line will be released soon. The pouch has been made in several different fabrics and styles. The briefs, especially the bikinis are made for this. Its similar to the other pouches, but hard for me to describe. Its a great mix of support and the way a guy naturally hangs.

These are my top three recommendations. There are way more pouches I could recommend. But you wanted hang free! And I think you would be happy with any of these.

Michael:

The first ones to try are from the Australian designer, Obviously. They have gone all in, and their entire line is anatomical with many of their designs made of soft bamboo. Last year, UNBTim gave a rave review of the brand and it’s AnatoMAX line, saying “All the pairs I have ever owned have been amazing.”

Although not advertised as anatomical, I’ve tried the Baskit’s Energy Briefs, found the pouch to be quite roomy, and it comes in fun, attention-grabbing colors. It is made of nylon (90%) and spandex (10%), so these are perfect to wear during sweaty, physical activities.

As the reader notes, Andrew Christian, with its “Almost Naked” collection, makes anatomical cuts. But, you should also try their “Show-it” collection. They have an internal “comfy cup,” where you put your package, and as the name implies, you’ll show off more. More importantly, just like a kangroo’s pouch, your joey is lifted up and protected from potential leg crushing when you can’t (or shouldn’t) “manspread.”

Some designers have been very explicit with this design move. But, more and more designers have retooled their collection to be anatomically correct without much fanfare. I predict that this natural design may just become the new standard in menswear.

This is a preview of the new ES Collection swimwear campaign for 2017. Its filming took place on the wonderful island of Mykonos, Greece.

Water is the element which connects and creates all the wonderful beauty of this island as well as being the element which defines a swimwear collection. The name we have chosen for our new campaign is: NERÓ, which means water in Greek. Undoubtedly, such an important element should name an important campaign.

Brought to you by www.studioretail.com

Hey guys, my name is Mike and this is my first post for UNB! Anyone that meets me would think I’m your normal, 30s(ish) straight guy next door. But on any given day if you had x-ray vision you’d see that I’m probably wearing what most would consider to be pretty crazy underwear: tiny briefs, bikinis, maybe a thong. Any color or style is fair game, and a lot of days I base the rest of my outfit on the color and style of underwear I pick first.

I can’t think back to a specific moment when I realized I loved underwear; it’s just always something that interests me. I remember being in high school and seeing the Calvin Klein underwear at Macy’s. It seemed so adventurous, so adult to think about buying briefs like that. I mean, each pair came in a box! Everyone knows the fewer pairs per package, the better it is. It was also such a thrill to finally get the nerve to buy a pair of CK hip briefs and have to take them up to the checkout. I also remember the time I bought a CK thong and tried to ‘hide’ between others pairs so it didn’t seem so obvious. Which I’m sure it was! To this day I get a rush out of buying fun underwear in person and seeing if I get any reaction from the cashier.

After high school I found the world of online underwear retailers and the floodgates opened for me. I started with the big players like 2(x)ist, CK, and C-IN2. Then I branched off into the wonderful world of Andrew Christian and cheapundies. It turns out I’m very partial to briefs, especially anything with a good pouch. I’m also a sucker for sales, so I’m always willing to pull the trigger on something fun and new.

The fact that I found great fitting anatomical underwear, fabrics that feel amazing, and perfectly fitting cuts like briefs means I’m never going back to ‘regular’ underwear. Add in things like jock briefs and thongs to the mix and the best part of my day is in the morning when I get to pick what to wear.

To me, the best part of underwear is the amount of variety available and how it always makes me feel amazing. As a straight guy, I know the typical stereotype about guys’ underwear is the image of string bikinis, probably leopard print and sold in a tube of 3. But I guarantee that any straight guy that would try a modern pair of briefs with a good pouch and an awesome fabric would be an instant convert. That’s what I hope to accomplish here at UNB. I want to share my experiences with new brands and underwear to straight guys that are either intimidated or hesitant to dip their toe into our wonderful world. There’s no shame in feeling great from what you’re wearing. You’ll get a thrill knowing that you’re the only one who knows you’re rocking red briefs today. And who knows, maybe your coworker sitting next to you just happens to be a fan of Thong Thursday too!

NOTE: UNB Mike is one of the newest guys on UNB. We will have a lot more from him soon!

Is that a banana in your pocket or are you happy to see me? It’s an old like but a good one. Andrew Christian has created a Banana print. I think this line is a lot of fun! It’s def a play on the whole banana is just a banana. Then again AC has always put a fun spin on undies.

The new line comes in a few different styles. They are jock, brief, shorts, swim trunk, swim brief/Bikini and tank. You could, in fact wear all banana print with this line. Not sure you will but it’s an option. I could see the tank being worn with jeans or shorts.

I am liking that brands are using the same print across many lines. Espeically, from underwear to swimwear. You can have your favorite pair of underwear as your favorite pair of swimwear. Also, many of you would like to have the sam print across your undies.

One thing that really struck me was just how a like the swim and underwear look a like. They each have black waistbands. The underwear has an Andrew Christian branded band. Whereas, the swimwear has a solid black waistband and black trim. I don’t know why I love this print I just do.

If you love funky and fun prints, I suggest you check out this line. It is a limited edition print from Andrew Christian and won’t be around long. Get them while you can!
