“But a deltoid, and a bicep. A hot groin and a tricep. Make me, ooh, shake” , wonderful quote from the Rocky Horror Picture Show and an even better beginning to this underwear review.  How else can I start a review on a piece of underwear that is made of golden lycra.  It has its positives and negatives that are very easy to point out.

First, it is incredibly comfortable. It has plenty of room for all the important goods, both front and back. Though it does not have a rear seam to show off certain assets, it still lifts and makes everything look perky. The front seam creates a great pouch which hugs everything perfectly.  To top all of that off it comes in all sizes, including extra-small and extra-large.

The main negatives: It only comes in one color… gold. It states on the website

“Please note: All the Celestial range products are ‘special occasion’ underwear and as such we recommend they be worn as ‘occasional’ wear. The regular wearing and washing of these products may result in abrasion and subsequent dulling of the foil surface. Bum-chums can accept no responsibility should this occur.”

I love this brief. It is all around great.

Bum-Chums furnished this pair for review. You can find more info about them on the Bum-Chum Website – http://www.bum-chums.com

It’s an itsy bitsy teeny weenie yellow…banana hammock? That was my first reaction to the fluorescent yellow Cover Male jock strap.  Upon first look, it doesn’t even appear to be large enough to cover even the smallest of men. I am happy to say my first reactions were incorrect. As I stepped into the jock strap, I found it quite comfortable and extremely sexy. The wide, soft waist band and straps make it comfortable along the legs and hips while the 83% polyester and 17% Spandex pouch hold much more than you would think.

The pouch is shaped perfectly to hold even the largest package with its stretchy material and nicely places stitching. There is one negative though, you have to wear your package facing down. If you face it the wrong way, you will find nothing fits in this piece.

Available in nine colors from black to yellow and sizes small to x-large, you can find a pair of this underwear in your favorite shade. One downside is that the materials require that this underwear be machine washed and lay flat to dry. It is difficult to remember to take these out of the laundry to dry. That being said, I forgotten both times I have washed it. It still looks as great as when it came out of the package.

All in all a great brief, easy to wear, and  very sexy to the eye. It receives a definite positive review from me, especially when I am looking to be as skimpy as possible.

Bum-Chums is quite adorable in their approach to underwear shopping (even their little tushy logo is cute). I was sent a pair of Bum-chums to review, and low and behold, this hilarious pair of undies came into my life.

At first glance, it looks like a space suit turned into a trunk. After reading that the pair was Bum-chums’  “Moon Pants” hipster, I realized they lived up to the name perfectly. Without further ado, I slipped the hipster on.

I was surprised at how soft the inside felt compared to the shiny metallic layer on the outside of the nylon/lycra fabric.  The hipster (aka trunk) fit very nicely in my allocated size, and hugged my butt firmly (the Brand knows what it’s doing), and had a nice amount of room in the front, I might even say verging on a little baggy.

As I said for a metallic underwear, they are very comfy to wear, but the Bum-chums site states that the Celestial (metallic) collection should be considered “Occasional” wear, because with too much heavy wear, the metallic finish might “tarnish” (read: rub off), and they won’t look as Moon-y.

The waistband was very nicely sewn onto the metallic fabric, leaving no uncomfortable metallic edged seam to rub against your hips. The cut on the undies has a seam up the back for more contouring on the “bum”, while the front has an inset two-panel pouch.  The waistband also has a branding label sewn to the outside of the Left front hip. It’s a nice idea putting the uncomfortable tag on the outside, but it’s visually a little uncalled for.

Price-wise, for roughly 20$ USD, it’s not a bad price for such a cute pair.

PROS:

  • Super fun metallic look.
  • Really comfortable.
  • Well cut in the bum area.

CONS:

  • Not as great fit in the front pouch area.
  • Not great for daily use (mind you, wearing silver undies daily might be a bit much anyway).

Petit Q‘s jockstrap is a very sexy showpiece that is for a confident guy that wants to feel sexy.  They have a French appeal to them, with a quality sheer material in the front and contrasting black criss cross straps around the back.  The layout of the straps on the hips and back feels very sexy, and a little naughty.  The front pouch is a sheer fabric cut and sewn to wrap around every detail of your package.

These are definitely best saved for a special night or occasion.  I did need to adjust the straps for a bit in the mirror to make sure everything was in the correct spot and laying flat, but once I was in, I felt great.  Again, these are for a confident guy, there’s not much to these except a sexy web of straps.  I saved them for a special night with the boyfriend and he was more than happy to get caught in that web!  They really turned both of us on, so if you feel comfortable in a hot design and are in the mood for a sexy pair of underwear, I’d recommend these.

I was excited to receive Cover male’s bikini brief in royal blue as I had the chance to try their running short a few weeks back and was a fan.  All the things I loved about the running short were here in the bikini brief in a more wearable and supportive style.  The poly/spandex blend feels great on and these fit great.

I wore these to work and to then to the gym.  They functioned great for both situations.  The pair offered comfort during the workday and felt great, and enough support while I worked out.  I really enjoyed wearing to the gym because they didn’t feel bulky under my gym shorts.  I’m looking forward to wearing these around the pool in the summer; they flatter the body with the right cut like a sexy speedo.  I think they’ll function well in the water, I mean a semi-private pool anyway.  The royal blue color is fun and summery and will definitely draw some attention.

I was excited to try this new line from Cover Male. I had been hearing great things about the fabric and design. If you are like me you can never have too many comfortable pairs of fun underwear. Sometimes a sexy pair of underwear and a comfortable pair of underwear can be a tricky combination.

There is that moment when you first touch the fabric and you know right away if you are gonna love the underwear. I got this design in vibrant neon orange. It’s definitely a pop of color. The microfiber fabric is very stretchy. The 4-way stretch of the fabric is definitely ideal for a thong. It has thin waistband and strap were very comfortable and never needed to be adjusted. The fit was perfect. The pouch design features a contoured pocket that lifts and supports, however, is a very low-rise fit. I personally could have used at least another inch of fabric. There were a couple of moments where I felt like I was falling out of the top of the pouch.  The base of the pouch was a little too small causing more pressure than I normally desire. I just think this design needs a few tweaks to really bring it into a real contender as an everyday thong.

I also thought the placement if their tag was strange. If I had left this big white tag in the back you would have been able to see it every time I wore the thong. I removed it but then realized that there are no other brand markings on the underwear. I would also suggest they rethink how they put their company’s name on their product.

I will wear this pair again but I probably won’t be wearing it as an all day item. I might wear it to lounge around my house in. I also thought about wearing it to the pool. The fabric would make a great bathing suit. I hope they keep expanding their lines and come up with more creative products using the great fabrics. They have a great start already and I am sure I will be wearing more and more if their thongs over the next few years.

One of the hottest new crazes in mens underwear is the Jock Brief.  Full brief in front, jockstrap in the back.  It’s the best of both world’s!

I recently received this CandyMan Jock Brief.  Well known for creating “novelty”, costume underwear, CandyMan offers a wide selection of fun underwear and not your everyday briefs…

It’s my first black pinstriped pair of underwear, so I was eager to try it out.  As soon as I put it on I knew I would like it.  The stretchy fabric (93% Polyester 7% Spandex/Elastane/Lycra) feels great on the skin.  The elasticity creates a pouch that is loose enough not to feel flattening yet still provides a moderate amount of support.  The rear leg openings fit perfectly and didn’t bind like some jocks do.  The pinstripes are eye catching, and the logo on the waistband is perfectly proportioned on the center.   With this pair, they’ve given me something that I can add to my daily rotation of underwear to choose from.

Available in black pinstripes and in red plaid, this brief is great for every day wear or a night on the town.

Bum-Chums!  The latest entry into the growing mens underwear market is quite a nice brand to have found.  Hailing from Britain and featuring all British materials with the construction, these undies are not to be underestimated in quality, wearability, and style.  I was able to try the Fruity Blue-Berry Hipster.

The soft fabric consists of Cotton and Lycra creating a soft feel to the touch and to the areas covered by the undies.  The hipster is basically a name for a basic trunk.  This pair had a roomy pouch and was very stretchy and conforming to the wearers body.  The hipster is bright bluish with a black band with pink lettering.  This pair featured paneled construction of two panels in the front and two panels in the rear and the hipster featured a back seam to accentuate the BUM.  I did not really care for the rather large brand tag on the left front of this pair of undies.

The size large was a perfect fit in the hipster.  When opening the hipster, it looked rather large, but fit well.  I enjoyed wearing this pair of the Bum-Chums.  I did find that the hipster’s legs tended to roll up a bit, but made for easy maneuverability and stayed put most of day.  I wore these on standard days of general daily activity.  My jeans had no issue with clinging to this pair due to the fabric composition.  Overall, the fit was nice and I enjoyed wearing them.  The price is similar to other specialty underwear and comes in around the $20-25 mark per pair.

Bum-Chums!  The latest entry into the growing mens underwear market is quite a nice brand to have found.  Hailing from Britain and featuring all British materials with the construction, these undies are not to be underestimated in quality, wearability, and style.  I was able to try the Black Sneak Peek Jock.

The soft fabric consists of “Mixed Fibers” creating a soft feel to the touch and to the areas covered by the undies.  The “mixed fibers” are, presumably, elastic and mesh. The jock was a black see-through pouch with black band (with white lettering) and white leg straps.  The pouch was very stretchy and slightly conforming to the wearers body. It also featured paneled construction consisting of two panels creating the pouch.  I did not really care for the rather large brand tag on the inside back of the waistband of this pair of undies (I cut it out).

The size large was a perfect fit.  When I opened the jock, I found it to look normal sized and fit well.  I loved wearing this pair of the Bum-Chums.  The cut of the jock made for easy maneuverability and stayed put all day.  I wore these on standard days of general daily activity.  My jeans had no issue with clinging to this pair due to the fabric composition.  Overall, the fit of the jock was nice and I enjoyed wearing them.  The price is similar to other specialty underwear and comes in around the $20-25 mark per pair.

I recently had the pleasure of trying out the Clever Monaco Thong in white. This pair is part of Clever’s staple collection. Upon first inspecting the garment, I noticed that the construction was quite good. I really liked the logo on the 1 14/4th inch waistband and how it was tone on tone. The pouch was on the small side, yet was single-layered, so there was a little extra stretch due to the 81% Nylon, 19% Spandex material. Due to the thin single-layered pouch, the front is slightly see-through. The contoured pouch also has a front seam and attaches to the strap just under the ‘gents.’ The strap was just the right proportion, and provided a little extra coverage (if that’s possible) where it meets the top of the waistband.

My only complaint with the Monaco Thong is the sizing – Clever products run on the small side, so make sure you size up! I have a 30” waist and normally take a small, however, according to their size chart; I should have tried out a medium.

I wore this thong to around town running errands and attending brunch with friends. While the thong was the wrong size, it was very comfortable for the day’s activities.

Likes:

  • Good construction,
  • Classic design,
  • Lightweight.

Dislikes:

  • Too small,
  • Pouch could be larger.

I love getting new thongs to try and was eager to spend a day wearing the Ryocco thong. The fabric is a great soft feeling fabric. It was great to wear to the gym because it was so light. I loved the black, grey and white camo print that the thong was made out of.

The design has some great things and some not so great things. I would have recommended any person that is interested in trying a thing to try this one because if the design if the back of the garment. Most thongs are a skimpy back and most guys would be embarrassed if they were caught “whale tailing” out of the back of their jeans. The Ryocco thong is designed with coverage on the back that looks like you might be wearing briefs if your underwear was peeking out of the waistband of your pants. It sounds a little strange to say but i would describe this design as a full coverage thong.

I normally wear thongs very often to i was surprised when i noticed that when i was at the gym i had a bit of discomfort with the actual strap of the thong. My only complaint would be that the strap is too wide. While i was working out i felt the strap fold in half. It wasn’t so uncomfortable that i was miserable but i did have to dig in my gym shorts to adjust it.

Would i wear it again? Yes. I don’t know if i would wear it to work out in again. I would wear it on a night on the town under my jeans. As a matter if fact its time to get dressed to go out……..

PROS

  • Soft fabric
  • Fun print
  • Full coverage in the back

  • Thong strap too wide

We wrap up our 2(x)ist reviews today with the Sport No Show Trunk. Let me preface this by saying, I’ve never been a big boxer brief/trunk guy.  It’s just a preference I have for underwear. I just have always prefered briefs.

Don’t let that scare you off from the review. This pair was really comfortable. It is a rare exception for me to like trunks/boxer briefs. My biggest complaint I have for boxer briefs and trunks are lack support, ride up, and bunch up.

The reason I liked this pair that is wasn’t made to be “loose.” It was made to really hold its shape. This is in part due contour pouch and the blend of 92% cotton and 8% spandex. As I have said in a previous review, there have been very few sizing problems with 2(x)ist.

Much like the jock, I love the waistband. It has the same latex embossed band that jock does and is not boring. If you are a waistband fan, then you will love it.

As for the wearing, I wore this pair to work. Which is a gamble for me. I rarely wear pairs I would be unsure about to work. Because if you hate them you either have to bring another pair or go commando the rest of the day. However, this being 2(x)ist I felt confident I wouldn’t need to do either. I was right, this pair really did great. It held it’s shape, didn’t cause me any issues. Even if you are not a trunk fan you may like this pair.  I am sure you could wear it to the gym or any other activities you want

  • Embossed Waistband

The winter months couldn’t be the more appropriate time of year to purchase a well-constructed and functional boxer.  However, if you’re reading this review, you probably have acquired a more sophisticated expectation when it comes to purchasing the right pair.  Fear no longer, it’s quite easy when shopping for Ryocco Underwear.  They have an amazing ability to take modern styles, materials and designs an incorporate them into some really fun and exciting underwear without losing integrity to quality, functionality and durability and the classic look that boxers provide.

This is my first experience with testing underwear from Ryocco so I was a little skeptical at first but upon my initial inspection, I could quickly tell these were of quality construction and functionality.  When I’m looking for a new boxer, I want something that is extremely rugged, masculine and works well under any physical or sporting activity.   This boxer fits the bill as it is made of soft and comfortable cotton with design cuts on the sides of the front and circular cuts in the back along with contrasting yellow colored biases that give this pair a modern twist.  It includes an enhancement cup and a wide elastic waist band with the manufacture’s logo name embroidered across the front.

As shown in the picture, the high quality box comes in a snug masculine fit around the legs.  This particular pair like other boxers offered by Ryocco is constructed with a combination of materials consisting of 96% cotton and 4% Spandex.  I would consider this one of the best pair of boxers I’ve tested in a long time and would highly recommend them to anyone.  In summary, if you’re looking for a traditional, black boxer that can take a lot of physical abuse and still hold up at the end of the day, you’ll want to check these out.

There are so many amazing underwear manufacturers who are becoming more environmental conscience and socially responsible.  Soleone is one such manufacturer who’s created a biodegradable and hypoallergenic line of underwear.  Likewise, within the fabric, they have built in properties to wick away odor and moisture, keeping you dry.

This particular pair titled, ‘Lower Riser’ is made mostly from bamboo fiber (95%) which is incredibly soft and luxuriously comfortable.  With bamboo being a sustainable resource means it is grown without pesticides or fertilizers.  We can all appreciate a garment that’s safe for our bodies and the environment.  This line is only available in black or white.

Upon initial inspection of this brief, I was visually impressed with the quality of construction, elegant esthetic and the incredible feel of the fabric.  I immediately threw them in the wash and slipped them on when they came out of the dryer.   Throughout the remaining of the day, I was amazingly impressed with how well the low rise cut fit appropriately across my waistline and felt securely in place provided by the Soleone signature, spandex waistband.

However, these are extremely comfortable, well-constructed and provide a high quality of materials and definitely represent high end, fashionable underwear.   I worn these several times within a 3 week period and never once found them uncomfortable or ever realized that I wearing a low rise brief.   While I’m not excited about their price points on their line of underwear, I’m very impressed by the quality of fabrics and construction that go into their brief.   If you’re looking for a classic and well-constructed low rise brief, you might consider giving these a try.

When I first received this jockstrap, the first words that entered my mind were, ‘Wow…I haven’t seen a jock like this before’.  I’m always excited and inspired by manufactures who continue to push their creative limits, both in construction and design.  Freedom Reigns has established themselves as a unique and profound style that is grounded on quality and inventive underwear.  Needless to say, this new jock titled, “Speedster” doesn’t deviate from this manufacturer’s reputation.

This particular jock is made like a brief but fits like a jock, which is constructed from the softest open see-through mesh fabric. The wide waist band with the Freedom Reign signature name travels across the front of the jock providing substantial support.  The sporty and vivid yellow color turns up the sex appeal without compromising the functionality of a jockstrap.  The jock has a sporty poly-mesh pouch with unique rap-a-round speedster sides and a sexy cut-out butt, all trimmed in black.  The jock is also available in solid black

Recently, I pushed the envelope a bit and gave this jock a real workout at the gym.  The jock provided adequate support as a good jock should and still felt comfortable and unobtrusive in supporting the goods.  It comes to no surprise considering that these are constructed with 95% cotton and 5% Spandex.  .  I was totally pleased with the visual appeal and fit of this jock which says a lot for a guy who prefers the traditional trunk for everyday underwear.

In summary, if you’re looking for a new jock to add to your spring collection especially with Spring Break coming up, you might strongly consider this manufacture.  However, if you’re simply looking to add some sex appeal to your underwear collection, Freedom Reigns also provides a variety of additional jockstraps that you might want to investigate.

Fun name… fun jock!  The Fruity Cheeky Cherry Jock (how great is that name?!) from Bum-chums (made in UK) have a great color, great shape, and great feel.

Everything from the jock straps in the back to the front pouch look and feel fantastic.  The pouch is silky smooth, great shape, and nice protect your bits.  The jock straps nicely hold your butt cheeks in place, framing them perfectly without bunching.

About the only negative I’ve found to this jock is the size of the name on the waistband.  It’s only slightly larger than the brand name on most waistbands, but not being a huge fan of being a walking advertisement, it’s enough to bug me just a tad.

All in all a fantastic jock which at $24 online is not bad at all for any jock.  Anyone who’s a jock fan will love it!

Let me introduce you to the Petit-Q Kini, a cross between a bikini and a thong! This cheeky blue string bikini with white contrast piping is, in very small brief! There is a center seam that runs down the front of the pouch and continues up the back of the Kini’s single layered pouch.

The pouch is slightly contoured, yet doesn’t provide much support. The backside has a very cheeky cut, showing off one’s assets, which are accentuated by the center seam running up the back. When positioned correctly, the Kini is quite flattering, however, throughout the day, these briefs required a lot of readjusting, as the sides were constantly shifting and the back tended to bunch. I think this was partially because it was a size medium, I feel that the small might have held things a little tighter, and thus, stayed in place.

The sizing was spot on, and the Nylon 92%, Spandex 8% fabric pouch was very comfortable and breathable.

Cover Male‘s ‘Running Short’ takes the traditional running short and sexes it up with a high slit on the side.  This short is really designed well. At first look I thought these would not provide much support in the front but upon trying them, the shorts held everything in place. These are great for working out or just lounging around.  The fabric is a poly/spandex blend that is so light, you feel like your not wearing anything.

I’d say the view is better from the back as you’ll feel the fabric grazing your back side and allowing for some tiny spilling out the back. However, the front is very flat and does not accentuate the package much.  These function well as a workout short, and would be perfect for practicing yoga in private.  I would not recommend wearing these as underwear as the fabric is loose and may give off a strange looking VPL if you’re wearing a fitted pair of jeans or pants.

I tested these out when I had some time to workout at home before heading into the office.  I must say they really functioned well as workout shorts. Admittedly, I did not run in these so I’m not sure how much support they’d provide to a runner.  The support for squatting and doing lunges was adequate though.  It was also fun to stretch in these, as they were not constricting like normal underwear.

Editors Note: This is Nate’s first review for UNB. He lives in New York City.  His favorite underwear styles are jock straps and briefs.

Anyone looking for a nice new pair of underwear should try SoleOne underwear.  Ultra comfortable and form fitting bamboo fabric makes this pair of boxer briefs simply wonderful.  The pair that I was given was white with a black waistband with white lettering on it.

The soft fabric of bamboo created a soft feel to the touch and to the areas covered by the undies.  The boxer brief is more of a trunk fit, in my opinion with shorter legs than a normal pair of boxer briefs.  This boxer brief had a roomy and stretchy pouch with no fly that comformed to my body as I wore them.  The waistband is approximately one and a half inches wide and was comfortable.  This pair featured paneled construction.  Featured on the rear was a back seam to accentuate the rear.

The size large was a perfect fit.  When I opened the package, I was surprised by how wrinkly the underwear was, but I washed it in cold water and actually dried it in the dryer (contrary to care instructions).  The wrinkles were completely gone after the process of cleaning them.  The boxer brief was like wearing a second skin that was not too tight nor too lose, but just right in the tauntness and give of the fabric.  I wore these on standard days of general daily activity.  My jeans and khakis had no issue with clinging to the pair due to the fabric composition.  Overall, the fit was nice and I enjoyed wearing them.  The price is similar to other specialty underwear and you may order it from the SoleOne website for $34 with free shipping on orders of $99 or more.  Anyone looking for some luxury undies will find these to be the ones to have in their collection.

I was super excited to receive a Male Power Herringbone Jock to review.  I’ve never purchased any of their underwear, and I always love trying out different brands.  I tend to wear briefs and jocks in all sorts of colors and cuts daily, so it’s not really a stretch for me to wear something that might be a little more flashy on occasion.

Male Power is known in the industry for creating sexy underwear for men.  This includes cotton briefs, mesh jocks, silk thongs, and everything in between.  The Herringbone is one of their newest collections. It has a super soft crocheted pattern that offers just a glimpse at what is underneath.  I decided to wear the jock on my day off while I was running errands.  As soon as I put it on, I realized that this jock seemed more like a jock I would wear to get things going in the bedroom more than one I would wear all day.  The pouch is shaped well but doesn’t offer much support, as the material has a lot of give.  And the straps are extremely thin and also don’t offer much support in the rear.  A couple of times throughout the day I found myself thinking I may as well have gone commando.

This jock is 85% nylon, 15% spandex.  The pouch is created with a 4-way stretch herringbone crochet that is super soft against the skin and is available in red, black, and nude.  My thoughts are that the sizing created the lack of support.  The jock is available in sm/med and lg/xl.  I have a 30-inch waist, which puts me right in the middle of their sm/med sizing.  So while the waist is comfortable, overall the jock proves to be slightly too big for me.
